"Will there be a movie about the Silmarillion?" Peter: Oh shit.. for those who don't know the silmarillion is like the lord of the rings but x10 more complicated and just more death all around
Fabulous!!! Thank you so much for posting this for all those who weren't able to be there in person. Loved every minute of it. Just have to give a shout-out to Richard (Thorin)!!! :)
I can't believe how quickly this panel went! The True Blood panels always seem to last forever! Such a shame that Richard didn't get to speak more. If I was there I would've asked him to sing his favourite song (not necessarily the Misty Mountains song though) :)
Thank you Magicinthenumbers for filming The Hobbit, The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones panel! :D This is quality work and let's hope you get to film the next years panels aswell ^^
I'm so happy its gonna be a trilogy! More care put into it, more action, more time to get to know the characters and more spending time with the whoole adventure!
Dude! Thanks for posting this! I, for one, don't mind at all that the film footage has been cut out, as the less spoilers the better, IMO. Besides, I'm sure the fine folk at 'Empire Magazine' will probably devote a whole podcast to dissecting every second of that footage [bless them], whereas they can't show us the panel. So it's all good!
...something for everyone. You got your trailers for theatre folk, TV-spots for the couch potatoes, VBLOGS for hmm us… and those with a bit of coin left in there pockets are treated to 12mins. Brought to you by ComicCon. “because they pay me to…” My question is this: Pete always has a camera on him, so I ask where is his Pete’s Eye footage going to? Also when can we get Blog 8??
Well sir, I don't agree with you, and I don't think you are in any position to argue. His performance has been well liked, and I should say, even my brother, who was a fanatic of Tolkien's writings way before me, agreed that Martin Freeman was a great choice, and that his performance was impeccable. Impeccable.
Yes he is.. He was knighted by New Zealand. "Sir"s don't only come from England. lol. (and no i'm not a New Zealander before you start trolling). But he is, he was knighted in the NZ's Knight's Order of Merit.
Its probably isnt his decision. That sort of thing is usually down to New Line Cinema. Its not just The Hobbit where the shown footage isnt shown, none of the panels allow outside showing of content. Its just one of the perks of going to these events.
@GothicalDarkAngel The Similarion, the Epic tale that lays the foundation for Middle Earth, it's history and races, and ultimately the events of the War of the Ring. Think of it as the Old Testament that prefaces the New Testament of The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings. Also LOTS of Dragons and Balrogs!
Well at least the fans boys wont be able to cry complain much now given the fact that the book will now be 3 films hence giving jackson more room to fit the book into the movies and make them as faithful as possible.
I like that after the one guy asks Martin Freeman if he is intimidated by the project because of the prolific actors in all the films, you can hear a girl in the crowd say: "Seriously, dude?! F-off." And that, my friends, is how you know that it is SDComic-Con.. People just know their shit.
That part from 7:28-8:21 was so cringeworthy. I can't believe she actually had the nerve to talk about how she had the book read to her with the characters' genders changed and all that, in front of not only an entire audience of fans but also the people that worked on these movies. To say nothing of the fact that people like her are the reason why the entertainment industry today is tampering with pre-existing intellectual properties for the sake of "inclusion" and "representation", that's still not something you should bring up in public. Wherever she is, I hope she's looking back at this moment and hating every bit of it. And if she isn't then she should be, because that was an embarrassing thing to say in front of all those people.
do you realize that galadriel is an elf while gandalf is an angel/demigod, Sauron is an angel/demigod, and the Witch King is wraith from the underworld
Haha! I love how Peter just took over the Moderation from Hardwick! I bet he could have used the break, though! He moderated Man of Steel, The Walking Dead, Doctor Who, Disney, NOT INCLUDING his own stuff. I like to imagine Peter just being like, "Hey, Chris. I've got this one for you. You can take a break." lol.
The only thing that bothered me about this panel was how long people felt the need to genuflect before finally getting around to asking a damn question.
They're standing in front of major people that they have looked up to for a long time because they are FANS! Of course they're going to say a bit of stuff to them on why they love everything Tolkien.
I do believe an American has been knighted, or at least received an OBE (don't quote me on that). It is rare but it does happen outside of England & the Commonwealth countries :)
they give Sir Ian a standing ovation. Well-deserved
That Brazil guy was awesome. I would love to see a movie of the Silmarillion
I love that the fact that sir Ian Mckellen had a standing ovation :)
"Will there be a movie about the Silmarillion?"
Peter: Oh shit..
for those who don't know the silmarillion is like the lord of the rings but x10 more complicated and just more death all around
The Silmarillion can be summed up in two words. "Feanor No"
'this is a movie made by fans, for fans'. love that.
And I like that Martin Freeman isn't all "oh, I'm such a tortured soul, it all comes from a dark place inside me." It's refreshing, and honest.
Fabulous!!! Thank you so much for posting this for all those who weren't able to be there in person. Loved every minute of it. Just have to give a shout-out to Richard (Thorin)!!! :)

i love how ironic it is that Richard Armitage is considerably tall
He's not the only one. Graham McTavish, who played Dwalin, is 6 foot 3, and in fact, a few of the other Dwarf actors are at least 6 feet tall.
THEY ARE ALL PERFECT. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE CRIED THIS HARD IN A LONG TIME.
Yeah, I'd totally say he's an actor: he did all the physical movements of Gollum, even if his precise image isn't on the screen.
i have no words. i am in complete awe of the uberness on the panel.
preview or no preview, i truly appreciate this upload. thank you so much.
Thank you Magicinthenumbers for filming The Hobbit, The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones panel! :D This is quality work and let's hope you get to film the next years panels aswell ^^

Thank you so much for sharing!!!
"I've never really mastered making short films." -PJ
We can tell; there's now three films out of one short book and some appendices.
Awesome atmosphere! The under-played personality of PJ and the enthusiasm of the Hobbit fans is a fantastic combination!
Thanks for doing this forus who didnt get to go! I love it :):):):):):)

I LOVE THEM ALL!
Andy cracked me up when he did Gollum :D
12 minutes of The Hobbit footage? How can it not be!!
i love the "Holy shit!" from that random guy when Elijah comes out lol
because its for comic con only. i was 8 rows away from the cast, and believe me, the footage was absolutely amazing!
YES! THANKS FOR UPLOADING!
thanks so much! i'm soo excited :)
@facebyyou1 I'm from new Zealand, where he's on the news A LOT. so yes, I can correctly vouch for his having received the title.
I really thought he was gonna introduce Stephen Colbert. XD
thank you so much
NOOOOOO!!!!!!!
I NEED TO SEE THAT FOOTAGE SO BAD!!!!!
THANK YOU!!!!
Cannot wait for the next Vlog!!
Because they only show these preview clips for the fans at the con. It's still a work in progress.
some of the footage does sometimes get leaked but in like a month or so they eventually release the footage to the public but usually only some clips.
Serkis is going to be doing that voice for people forever.
Richardddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd!!!
They dont allow recording of the footage. They have security people prowling the hall enforcing the rules.

lol Chris Hardwick just awkwardly standing to the side XD
im the one that yelled out 'holy shit!' comic con was fantastic!!!
No questions for elijah wood? :(

Cries self to sleep because of all these uncontrollable feels.
i like Martin's funny hat
Couldn't you have recorded the audio at least? Just casually rested the camera in your lap? But I'm grateful for this, so thanks!
I shuould have screamed my lungs out!
yes he is
That's Chris Hardwick, he's for example the host of 'Talking Dead'. :)
Yes but its not just the book 'The hobbit' He is also using other books and written works by Tolkien and adding that to the movie.
Well at least the fans boys wont be able to cry complain much now given the fact that the book will now be 3 films hence giving jackson more room to fit the book into the movies and make them as faithful as possible.
I only watched this to hear andy serkis talk as gollum/smeagol he is a f*cking genius
Love me some Chris Hardwick.
I like that after the one guy asks Martin Freeman if he is intimidated by the project because of the prolific actors in all the films, you can hear a girl in the crowd say: "Seriously, dude?! F-off." And that, my friends, is how you know that it is SDComic-Con.. People just know their shit.
Who signed the shirt that the Brazilian guy was giving to Ian?
a big part of the hobbit is based on our latest video
She said at that time (as in the time of the Hobbit) Galadriel is the most powerful being.
Andy Serkis...super-underrated.
dude everyone who can get to comic con you should save up for it.. I live on the other side of the world and I might never get to go x_x
One does not simply dislike The Hobbbit...
Andy Serkis doing Gollum

Why isn't PJ letting us see the Hobbit footage online? Not everyone has the time, money or opportunity to go to Comicon... :(

is there somewhere where we can see the previewed footage? doesn't matter now really, movies are all released but i'm still curious
Stand for Gandalf!
He is, actually.
vlog 8 is out !
Oh okay, thanks for responding anyway :) was it any good?
They're standing in front of major people that they have looked up to for a long time because they are FANS! Of course they're going to say a bit of stuff to them on why they love everything Tolkien.
I would've loved to have been there.
Why is everyone not including the 12 minute footage of the Hobbit??
Oopsie. . . .LoLz!! . . . . uuumm...he was knighted here in wellington, nz..
was the footage any good?
Who is the panel presenter dude. I swear I've seen that guy somewhere, his voice and all. I just can't see his face that well.
We'll see it soon enough :)
HAHA, I thought it was Chris Hardwick. What a treat for him!
22:50 love u andy
Thought so... but someone somewhere must have at least got some of the footage! :( 6,500 people.... *waits for any blurry sort of leak ever*
why do you cut out the reels?
No leak at all? Please guys pm if anyone finds anything.
Someone who simply doesn't like the Hobbit disliked the video.
Can anybody tell me.... what did that Brazil guy asked Peter to make..??? i really didnt get that.. ??
if I was there I would have asked Andy Serkis a billion questions.
what was the guy in the audience shouting at 5:55?
He is, he was knighted by the Queen. Spelt Ser, by the way. Just to think, Peter Jackson, Knight of the Garter!
andy serkis is the coolest man on earth.
Since when does Ben Cumberbatch have a youtube?!?!
He's been in tonnes of traditional (more or less) movie roles apart from LotR. So yes, I'd rank him as a real actor.
I don't mind not seeing it. I'd rather be fully surprised come December. :)
He asked if Peter would make a film about Silmarillion, another Tolkien book.
I do believe an American has been knighted, or at least received an OBE (don't quote me on that). It is rare but it does happen outside of England & the Commonwealth countries :)
wo war das wo du das Video getret hast
andy serkis is awsome
Why didn't you show any of the clips? WE WANT
CLIPS!
