On my 114 M8, with the mini teardrop, I get oil drips from the breathers, with the original size teardrop there are no oil drips. I reakon with the mini teardrop element being exposed, the air inside the filter gets tossed around a fair bit, pulling the oil with it. With the classic full-size teardrop, the air is pulled from the rear near the heads. From the rear, the air is fed into the throttle body more smoothly, taking the oil mist with it instead of being tossed around all over the place. I have switched between the mini and classic on many rides and situations, and the classic is always clean inside, where the mini always has lots of oil inside. In case anyone is interested, there's no difference in performance between the two.
Always ran a Stealth but I just ordered the Black mini Tear Drop. I personally think it was over priced but had to have it anyways. Thanks for the video and customer service at SK.

Do u think the S&S mini teardrop is (performance wise) better than the screaming eagle heavy breather?
KostaAtlas I don’t have any statistics but I prefer It over screaming eagle.

I went out yesterday for a big ride over 250km and I think I prefer the sound better (maybe in my head), apparently the top end performance may lack ever so slightly but they say over 200kmh you’ll notice it, I’ll never do that sort of speed so if it’s true it doesn’t matter anyway
I seem to be getting a lot of air on my mini tear drop. it looks like it has leaned out my mixture. (I can hear an air sound as if I have a leak somewhere (very frustrating) I installed 3 time and i have backed out my CV mixture screw and it has helped a little

Will this fit the backing plate of the Altima air cleaner?
The mini? Am I really that bad at seeing differences in size.They look exactly the same to me.

How and wear does the breather bolt vent ?
The breather bolts vent into the filter just as the normal filter did. They are built in to the backing plate.
My s and s tear drop let's oil drip out into filter and down motor ..
.compared to Arlen Ness air cleaner which has rubber hose that directs that oil back into engine .
You have to shim out the breather bolts. I had to add two on one side and three on the other.
Can you ride in the rain with that type of filter?
I have ridden trough rain and snow with filters even more exposed than this one. I do not believe it is recommended and if you know your going to hit nasty weather make sure you have a freshly oiled filter.
Speed-Kings Cycle it would be nice if they made a sock to cover it which is the same shape as the filter.
There are other socks on the market for similar purposes

It should. I am not 100% positive though. Been a long time since I had a Super E.
