Seeing the prices on the Dave Stevens stuff recently makes me so glad that I bought all his stuff I could get my hands on years ago, and more importantly that he’s getting the recognition that he deserved when he was still alive. It’s wild that you could get most of his comic work for just a few dollars a piece and all of a sudden you can’t find it for under 30. He is my favorite artist and probably always will be.
Absolutely! His art just has this feel good Americana vibe to it. Wholesome and exciting with the Rocketeer, while somewhat grounded and realistic enough to really sell you on the pinup and sci-fi stuff.
I just want to say how much I enjoy your channel. You speak so clearly and with the concise information I look for. You stay away from stuttering with "uh's and hmmms". Just wanted you to know. Thanks from a new subscriber.
Drew - I know you put a lot of work into your videos. It always shows. You’re one of the best when it comes to really understanding the importance and history of the books you discuss. Thanks so much.
Thanks! 10 years of working at a long running and old school LCS, in addition to some great mentors along the way, taught me so much. I give them a lot of the credit.
hey drew, good to see you in the saddle,...and good luck with your con,...! wish i was closer, i'd attend.... about your book choices,.... 1-supe/flash race, remember it well, but I was more of a marvel man... 2-spook, see cole buy cole huh 3-that hulk 102 is super common, ive had many copies,... 4-love dave stevens, met him once at a con, he looked alot like cliff from rocketeer,... 5-silver surfer 4-gee buscema was doing some serious art then .... 6-and that detective,....love it, cant believe they havent used clayface as a major villain, so much potential,.... thanks for the video-
Awesome list and awesome vibes! Thanks for bringing up the face that you don’t play into all the drama. I come here for good clean comic fun and I am never disappointed Drew!
Very nice! As I was sitting there scripting the video a nice raw copy sold in Heritage’s weekly auction. I thought that was kinda funny considering how sporadic PCH can sell.
Thank you for the hold on buying vixen, I will wait. Copies come out of the wood works, when money is play. It will be interesting how many copies "are" out there.
I've been building my Dave Stevens collection for years, but I now realize that I should have gone harder over the years, haha. Hopefully these prices chill out again so I can pick up the books that I've yet to get my hands on. Great video, as always!
Thanks for the kind words Chris! A little bit of research, along with years of memorizing info on the back of comic book cards and in Wizard and Overstreet, has its benefits!
Peace and Good Vibes to you Drew Buddy. Thanks for another fun Top 10 List. You keep me sharp, and bring my awareness for what to keep an eye out for during my “Con Season” quests. Keep up the great work; looking forward to the next video✌️
Always cool lists/mini comic history episodes CoMo. X-Men 94 values always surprise me in relation to GS 1. Those two were always the same price when I was collecting in the late 70's-early 80's when the X-Men were everything. I always thought 94 was a touch more sought after, in fact, as collectors were always trying to complete their sequencing runs with 94 where GS 1 was more of a side issue.
I had that conversation with someone at my show yesterday! He said he and his buddy went into a comic shop and they had a copy of each for the same money. His buddy chose one and he took the other. Unfortunately, he did not wind up with the GS1. Still loved his X-Men 94, but was bummed the values didn’t stay even.
@@CoMoComicBooks Right. First appearances were important but not so dominant as they are today. I hadn't followed the trends for decades but only started checking things out in the "boom" and was surprised at just how much more important first appearances became (especially for less than top tier characters).
I agree. I’ve enjoyed Clayface since I first learned of him as a kid with B: TAS. With CGI where it’s at today, I think they could likely do the character justice in a live action movie, but my concern is that B: TAS handle villains like Clayface and Mr. Freeze so well, that a lot of us have these really high expectations for the characters and how they’re handled.
Hulk #102 goes well with Sub-Mariner #1, Iron Man #1, Captain America #100, & the often overlooked Iron Man/Sub-Mariner #1 & Hulk/Sub-Mariner #1. Those crossover one-shots are often more affordable than IM #1, CA #100, & SM #1... But along with Hulk #102 I consider them essentials. Love this list!
Thanks for checking out the video! I’m glad you liked it! The Spring series should kick off next week, but I’ve got a few years worth of previous videos in the library, if you want to go down the rabbit hole!
Hi Drew, first off I think your channel is great. A lot of useful information!! I actually have Superman 199 on layaway at my LCS. $450 at CGC 7.5. Do you think I did OK??
There’s are definitely a lot of sellers still trying to hold the line with 2020-2021 prices out there. Keep an eye out for auctions, over the buy it now’s, to get a more realistic price. Hopefully.
If your 9.8 comes back as a 9.9 then we ALL KNOW CGC are not an honest company. BECAUSE YOUR BOOK WAS ALWAYS A 9.9 BUT CGC DECIDED TO NOT GO ABOVE A 9.8 WHEN IT WAS SUBMITTED. CGC ARE CROOKS..... JUST LOOK HOW MUCH MONEY THEY WANT JUST TO GIVE YOUR 9.8 ITS REAL GRADE. THE GRADE IT SHOULD ALWAYS HAVE HAD
Yes, X-Men 94 is an important book, but man, that cover is a dog. Looks like Storm’s being barfed out of a giant villain head. Unfortunate art choices there
It’s never going to win any beat cover competitions, but Kane had quite a few bangers over the years. And Cockrum and Byrne did a fine job picking up where he left off.
I'm going to take a break from buying anything until after the election. Hope to a higher power 45 becomes 47! What's been going in the last 3 1/2 years is a total shit show.

about your book choices,....
1-supe/flash race, remember it well, but I was more of a marvel man...
2-spook, see cole buy cole huh
3-that hulk 102 is super common, ive had many copies,...

thanks for the video-

Thanks Peter! I appreciate the kind words!
I snagged the Spook 24 off Heritage in March, putting together a run of L.B Coles cheaper covers before they all take off.
Very nice! As I was sitting there scripting the video a nice raw copy sold in Heritage’s weekly auction. I thought that was kinda funny considering how sporadic PCH can sell.
@@CoMoComicBooks single stream of consciousness, as soon as you think it someone else around the world is clicking the buy button 😉
great video Drew. thanks for all your hard work

100%! Nothing frees up random books from collections like a formerly really affordable book jumping to $100/$250/$500/etc.

Thanks for the video, pain staking research takes time and effort, thanks again
These were some epic books anyone would love to own. Nice job.
Thanks for the feedback! I’m glad you enjoyed the list!
Great video! You are my favorite comic youtuber. Your encyclopedic knowledge always introduces me to new books and interesting facts. Thanks!!

Excellent show!
Thanks for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks Sidney! Good luck out there!
Great list! And I share your views on how sad it is that an increasing amount of negativity is permeating comic book UA-cam.
Thanks. I try not to get up on the soapbox very often, but sometimes I can’t help myself.
I love the comedy drizzled into this video. Your straight face comedy is awesome. I came here for the list, but left with some laughs 🙂
Thanks Michael! I was pretty tired when I recorded this one, but I’m glad I still stuck the landing on some of the jokes.

I own a 6.0 EGS Silver Surfer 4 and two other raw copies in lower grade.
Detective comics 298 has a great cover and low census 💪💪💪. One day hope they make it into movie

Great video. Would love to add an X-men 94 to my collection
Around here, it’s oddly easy. I find far more X-Men 94s in the area than I do GS1s. It’s kinda weird.
Well I’m in the market if you see a nice raw one for a good deal! Just the shipping to Canada that sucks

Oh yeah! I LOVE Iron Man/Sub-Mariner 1!!!
“Asshole Olympics.” Could not have said it better! 😂
Thanks for watching!
Anybody know the name of that Dave Stevens Documentary??
These videos are great
Thanks for checking out the video! I’m glad you liked it! The Spring series should kick off next week, but I’ve got a few years worth of previous videos in the library, if you want to go down the rabbit hole!
Some people wait for Punxsutawney Phil to tell them winter is over; I wait for Drew's quarterly top 10 list
It’s not fair that the damn cute groundhog gets all the attention! Thanks for watching sir!
Hi Drew, first off I think your channel is great. A lot of useful information!! I actually have Superman 199 on layaway at my LCS. $450 at CGC 7.5. Do you think I did OK??
Thanks! That’s in line with the last sale, so you’re probably in good shape there.
I would be great if you showed pricing on screen
Thanks for the feedback Craig. I agree, but unfortunately, it’s just not practical to sink the resources in to building additional graphics for that.
Barry told Clark that he let him keep close during the races because it was for charity.
The Flash IS the fastest 🤣😂🤣
Do you have a raw Superman 199?
Not at the moment…
As I watch this it is snowing.
PERFECT!!! Thanks for watching!
Of course my loved Hulk 102 is the sad sack on this list. 😑
I cannot buy a primer 2.. at a real price.

My question is, what happened to their crypto-currency after they died. Unless you have the password to their account its virtually lost.

Sooooo sad they are making SS as a female character
I’ll be interested to see what they do with FF. So much to pull from for it.
