In the pre-interview, the bit was on contact lenses. When they went live, you can see Brian kept thinking hard how to transition to it but then he froze.
I notice most comedians do that. Maybe it's because they have the whole situation surrounding it that doesn't get on camera coupled with the fact that they rarely are watching their own appearances that they mix things up after. Penn Jillette recalling the second time he was on Letterman and released insects on his table comes to mind as the best example, but also Norm Macdonald recounting his episode of the view where he tried to piss off Barbara Walters is slightly off when you watch the episode.
@@eskeknas5540 It's because our memory is actually terrible, believe it or not. It's pretty interesting if you look into it. I'd give some examples but I forgot them.
Even the best lose their train of thought on occassion. But, he has so much good material that he can rebound nicely. Plus, his reputation is good, by that time, maybe it was just a learnong experience for him. He moves on to better performances.
Even when Brian bombs he's hilarious.
See I think funny awkwardness is funnier then something perfectly rehearsed
I love that guy. He’s like that really funny dude in school or the office that somehow made it big. He’s funny without trying too hard

came here from his talk at google. he remembers this bombing very differently. he actually froze all by himself... wow.

@@billbulford6739 Yeah, but you have the examples I listed at least. lol
Yeah he spaced out himself haha but Letterman still added to it afterward.
Just watched that same talk! Nice recovery though!
So this is the interview he talked about bombing on Opie and Anthony. He's still hilarious though
Captain Crunched I
The trifocal lens bit is one of the greatest jokes ive ever heard
Letterman’s that will keep you in shape joke is brilliant. Went over my head the first time watching but works perfectly knowing the background.
lol @ non-sequiturs and some examples, that was good. probably the best possible recovery
Letterman is so quick to save the bit. Bring back Dave.
He's honestly not the best interview. Hes not bad, hes just really chill and much better when he stays in character doing stand up.
Brian Regan calls David Letterman _"Mister Letterman"_
Brian looks so young here and Letterman was already a legend to most comedians.
_"MISTER Letterman"?_
Lol. He's so nervous
"Is this the right guy?" How great would it be if he was just some rando that managed to sit down next to Dave after a set? 😅
wow.... he was nervous ha ha ha ...he did good

Oh my God. Letterman saved him. Lol
Letterman caused the hiccup by doing a horrific job setting up the jokes.
Yeah that wasn't great, and he's great
Oh well.
Dennis never had that problem.
The first 90s talk show clip of Brian Regan on UA-cam now I will wait as it mysteriously gets taking down
Mr Eighty v5.37.7834 still her dummy.
