I had one of those when I was 14 back in 1955. Wish I still had it. Mine had the big buddy seat on it. I was the only kid in town with a Harley. Took a girl for a ride on it and we have been married for 60 years. That bike was worth every penny. I traded a 37 Chevy, a Winchester single shot 12 gauge, and $20.00 for it. I never had much money so just traded stuff. No tag, no insurance, no helmet. Ah, the days of freedom. But my 99 Softail Custom serves me well at almost 79 years old.
I clocked in the final year of the knucklehead . Ya got about 6 years on me . Hats off to ya bro . Keep on ridin . My ex father -in-law had a similar story . He was around 16 in the late 30's . He and a friend went in together on an old knucklehead basket case for 20 bucks . Alex said it got to where he was doin all the repairs & upkeep after putting it back together . Finally got fed up , rode it into a junkyard sold it for 10 bucks . Damn I miss all my old straight shaft motors .
I bought this bike and had it shipped to the uk... just as good as it looks. Took me some time to learn how to ride it.. Unfortunately I only had it for about a year and then sold it to get a mortgage 😖 Definately miss this one 👍🏽
I had a 42 Flat Head just like that when I was 14 back in 1955. Mine had the big buddy seat. Wish I still had it. I am almost 80 now, and ride a 99 Softail Custom. I never had much money back then but traded a 37 Chevy, a 12 ga. Winchester single shot, and $20.00 for it. I learned how to work on it to ride it. One day I took a girl for a ride on it, and we have been married for over 60 years.

750cc engine.
this is the first motorcycle rider that kick start the bike like a man. he is not jumping on the kick start pedal like a girl like every body do
In the early years, Harley was a copy cat, that engine sure looks a lot like the Indian PowerPlus engine.
