- I’ll be doing a side by side shave today, with the Ares and Athena Razors from Lambda Razors in Greece. I’ll be seeing which one I would get for my particular beard type. I got these razors on loan to try out, then send off to another UA-cam Wetshave.

Lambda Ares is a razor that has been first manufactured back in 2019. It was made in only 50 pieces and quickly became a collectable item. Now, Lambda Ares returns to the market with some updates, without changing its original style. It comes with a slightly longer handle which keeps the original analogy of an ancient Greek temple column. Razor head is the same style, but becoming a bit milder without sacrificing its exceptional effectiveness.

Athena is the second model released by Lambda Razors in 2021 leaving an impact in the traditional shaving scene. Athena was the Greek goddess of wisdom, so you would expect this razor to be clever in design and features. It’s a closed comb head design that featues a very stiff mounting of the blade, eliminating chattering. It has an innovative way to clean up foam from the head through its sides via a hhydronamically designed path. This ensures that the head will never clog and at the same time, foam will not be driven to the handle as you shave. The razor comes with a special and luxurious solid mahogany case.

I use Feather blades, double edged, and I switch to a new blade every Sunday. I probably shave 5 times a week. I found that if I continue to use a blade into the second week I’ll start to get nicks. I have coarse facial hair. Hope this helps anyone looking for info on how often to switch blades.

Good shave Ken. To answer your question yes they do make the preshave in the other scents. Right now I'm really digging the Proraso blue especially for head shaves but my go to is Proraso green.
I live in Switzerland and ever since I started shaving the old way, whenever I am in Italy, I buy Proraso for almost free in the local supermarkets. Started with the red but the green line is really fresh and my go to preshave, soap and aftershave.

Great shave. I very rarely pull out Proraso soaps now. The only time I use them since I have much better artisan soaps is when I practice lathering, test a new brush or go for a special occasion shave. The Derby Extra blade I tried was just fine. It’s neither the best or worst blade I’ve used, it’s just an ok blade for me. The Bic Astor was also good, but I wish it was consistently smooth. Next up for me to try out is the Shark Platinum. Although Proraso shave soap (tub) is readily available, inexpensive, and lathers easily, I am not a huge fan because the post-shave is poor. It dries out my skin. I have to use a ton of after-shave balm to correct the situation. I now only use it when I'm traveling.

Ken, can you really tell a difference in usuing the Proroso pre shave and then not using it. I've heard different people say difference things about pre shave products and I've never used the Proroso pre shave and just wondered how you felt about it. great shave and vid as always.

I believe they are worth it. I’ve paid more for razors that I don’t like as much as these.
