Use an oval-shaped carabiner that screws together on one long side - use the long side without the threaded part in place of the toothpick here.
Just a thought...

Loved making this but I wish the initial measurements were more accurate. It's really wasteful to have to cut off so much material on the arms. Wish I'd watched the video before making ET and cut a shorter strand of my limited supply of Paracord. Aside from that, your instruction video is excellent and very easy to follow. Thanks! My friend is going to love my little gift.
