How do you get the right color of fondant ? You start with white fondant and add drop by drop of food colorant till you get the color you need?

Hi..
You can always color your white fondant with drop by drop food coloring until you get the color you want. This method is very good for getting fondant colors that are light in color intensity. but if you want to get an intense and bright color, this method will be a little tricky because the more food coloring you use, even if it's in gel form, the more liquidy the fondant will be and melt. therefore must be balanced by adding icing sugar in this process to maintain the consistency of your fondant.
a more effective way to achieve intense colored fondant is to purchase primary color fondant; red, yellow and blue. then mix and match according to the color you want. The consistency of fondant will be maintained, and you save time and materials as well. add white fondant if you want it lighter, add black if you want it darker, add a little coloring if you want it more intense. hope this answers your question. thanks
