Maravilha! Villa-Lobos foi um gênio. Bachiana nr 5. Trenzinho Caipira.....e tantas mais. O Brasil é gigantesco e poucos o conhecem. A música brasileira é riquíssima. Sua cultura efervescente , sua natureza linda e fantástica e seu povo acolhedor não pode ser manchado por poucos que só querem a anarquia. Viva o Brasil! Viva Villa-Lobos!

Joanie, that's what turns brazilian music so beauty! Villa Lobos brings often this kind of feelins awake... I've seen an orchester which played "Bachianas Brasileiras #5" and the cellist were taken by some kind of "inner pleasure" while playing his part after the soprano... these three girls maybe lived the same... very beautiful indeed!

Excelente! Umas das melhores gravações que ouvi/vi. Achei um pouco rápido mesmo, pois acredito que apesar de ser uma Embolada ela já se caracteriza pelas várias melodias e contrapontos escritos, e não pela velocidade da música em si. Mas, sinceramente, ver o grupo tocando, sabendo o que está fazendo, se olhando, se movimentando junto... Ah... Isso apaga qualquer desavença quanto à velocidade! Espetacular! =D

vc está equivocado, em especial com Villa Lobos. Este coloca elementos da música popular brasileira na clássica. Há algo verde e amarelo na obra dele, que a torna fantástica.

Embolada literally means Tangled.
Villa-Lobos based this "tempo" on the music from the northeast region of Brasil.
There, Embolada is a kind of real fast singing (and game), where the words would "tangle" on theirselves if you have not the apropriate skill to sing it.
People also call it by another name: "Coco de Embolada".
The "Coco" is also a dance and many "Emboladas" are made for dancing.
I can only guess that Villa-Lobos was trying to bring to his music some of this dance and this game.

Interesting, this controversy about the tempo. You might be curious to check the tempo of 12 Cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic or the Rastrelli quartet, both on the UA-cam.
Most enjoyable, but there were some parts where the featured players weren't even shown (while the camera focused on the three ladies in the center who were having such fun).

Whoa haha. Not used to this tempo at all. Sounds unnatural to me at this tempo, but still quite interesting. I hate the camera work though haha. Great video nonetheless.

Yeah, so I've heard. I have the Nashville Symphony Orchestra recording. They take it much slower than this. That's the one I'm used to, so this sounds very odd to me.
Samson Cheung Speeding up things is an easy resort for not so good musicians. Therefore it's not so uncommon -:). The subtitle of this piece is "Embolada". Do you - do they - by any chance know what does "Embolada" mean?

Tempo is good. As a matter of fact, couldn't be better. This folk rythm from Brazilian Northeast - Embolada - is not relaxed at all, it is rather quick and vigorous.

I really dont know about wich "Mozart" that Mr Peter Baxter is talking about... It sounds like Mozart? in wich planet mr Baxter??? and Villa Lobos is one composer, Antonio Carlos Jobim(Tom Jobim) is other, nothing in commom mr Baxter...
