I love that you had the confidence to throw yourself into this the way you did (best way to learn IMO) But you did end up making things harder on yourself a little. I kind of blame park tool for this and their "self dishing/centring" jig (that actually doesn't work very well and goes off centre all the time) You should take a look at the DT Swiss Pro Line stand so simple and easy to replicate out of wood and a few off the shelf brackets.

I think the dishing gauge/checker could fix the centering/offset issues.
I believe so. I am working on a more user-friendly method. This projects needs a second iteration for sure =)

It is so expensive!!!!!
As much as you can align a wheel in a stand, sometimes the bike it self is not perfectly aligned.
