Personally, I would love to see State Man, Lossiemouth, Brighterdaysahead and Constitution Hill all contesting the Champion Hurdle, that would be the highlight of the Cheltenham Festival in my opinion.
Yes, I can't understand any unbiased pundit who doesn't argue for that. Today we had Nevison talking Brighterdaysahead into the Mares'. If you do that you need to confirm if you have backed it. Even if you have as a pundit you need to see beyond perdonal gain.
@@deano007 When has he proved that he is better than Brightyerdaysahead and Lossiemouth at Cheltenham? I think you will find that he has proved that zero times.
Great to see State Man back to winning ways today, he can at least head to the champion hurdle and take on Constitution Hill on the back of a win. I think everyone was just praying Lossiemouth got up from her horrific fall, it's a miracle she didn't break her neck there, Danny looked really sore as he stumbled away...hope he's ok. Fingers crossed the fall doesn't leave it's mark and she can go on to win the mares hurdle in March (for which she is a good thing)
@stevens9996 shes not a champion hurdler, I cannot see why she would not go down the mares route. Constitution Hill is a nailed on cert for the champion hurdle...utter madness to run her in it to play for 2nd when she can win the mares
@@stevens9996her owner said before it on rte racing he'll decide after the race champion or mares. She shouldn't be running in no champion hurdle after today , mares is a penalty kick for her.
Always upsetting to see horses tipping up, I dont think I've seen w.p.mullins agitated while talking to the press, closutton has had a fantastic weekend, I hope lossiemouth is fine and fit, so looking forward to cheltenham, what fantastic ammunition this man has.
Another farce of a race. Is there something really, really amiss at the heart of UK and Irish National Hunt racing ? All these quite big, well known, valuable races that go off with a handful of runners, 4 or 5.
Bring back Sea Pigeon, Lanzarote, Night Nurse, Monksfield and of course the great Comedy of Errors; add Constitution Hill into the mix and it would make a mighty race. Perhaps 'Deep Seek' could make it happen.
Great interview Nick. We got 4 Cheltenham targets more or less confirmed there (Lossiemouth - Champion, Kopek - Supreme, Final Demand - Turners, Gaelic Warrior - still Champion Chase for now but if beaten step up in trip going forward)
Not sure what was under the bonnet but I get the feeling it wasn't much despite Townend attempting to coast home up the straight. Time was over 2 seconds slower than the Novice race earlier in the day. Be amazed if Lossiemouth runs in the Champion Hurdle as going that stride faster doesn't seem to suit her. Brighterdaysahead is surely aimed at the Champion Hurdle after this.
What were the 3 other runners doing? Why let the market leaders get away like that...they were just cantering around before Lossiemouth came down. Constitution hill should sleep soundly this evening.
Such a shame as it looks like they would have made a race of it both running really well. As Willie says shes fine so hopefully just sore and nothing else. Stateman he always turns up does his job win or lose and u wouldnt mind a few like him in your yard
Should have allowed Lossiemouth to run last weekend in Cheltenham rather. In that way Townend could have kept the ride and there is no shame in coming 2nd to CH. Now they have just confused the horse more with this hard race.
@ hard fall yeah, would’ve shaken her up. Despite Mullins insistence I can still see her being sent to the Mares after two confidence shakers losing to Con Hill and then falling. Not sure Townend not being on her is the reason she fell though
Why did 1st jockey pick Stats man . Now you know why . And his sister won the bumper As she did last year Mullins double. For himself. Victimized the poor punters.
The question here is what was under the bonnet? I suspect not a great deal. The second has made up a huge amount of ground in relatively quick time. If the front three in the market turn up it's hard to see him finishing closer than fourth. This is likely his last day in the sun. Mullins much better at delivering the unexpected than the expected. Read someone saying that he is better than Townend. It's a completely different pressure riding odds on shots on a regular basis.
There is always something to learn. Several things in fact. Stateman isn't over the hill, Lossie Mouth isn't 100% foot perfect and Daddy Long Legs is fit and well without having a hard race.
You need reported to the BHA and banned from tipping Martin. One day you're gonna cause a horse a serious injury with your jinx powers. I nearly had a go at that 7/2 treble today but then thought nah that's a cursed/Martin bet lol
