Let me just add to all the compliments. So glad I can get version 1 of FreeCAD to follow all these new videos. Both MangoJelly and FreeCAD are awesome. Thank you.
Absolutely beautiful work! I am so impressed with your approach, explanation and the simplicity of the solutions. Literally glued to these videos. Thank you!
Well, hard to add much in compliments here. But I can say that these tutorials are excellent work at it's own right. Nothing to little nothing too much. Happy New Year to you and loved ones teacher 😊 I am looking forward to keep learning when and where I can on FreeCad and you make it fun to do so
Tried to save the coupler for use in the 3d splicer. The save as function only allows for the "freecad" extension. I'm using the Bambu slicer which has quite a list co compatibility. I've downloaded V1 from the Freecad site. Is the a lesson for this type of activity?
i was testing all the tools trying to find "Dimension" thinking it had changed the look (11:59) but then finally i found it by right-click... How can we make so that tools like "Dimension" shows in the menu bar?
This video is nearly perfect. Just adding a feature, showing in a corner of the screen what key and what mouse button is pressed, and then the video will be really perfect
That list keeps on coming down then all of a sudden back up. There is a lot of work to do and I don't know whether I am following the development more closely or there is more visibility. Fingers crossed we will see the version this year.
If you take a look at the playlist, the first video will help you. It shows you how to download FreeCAD 0.22. It's a dev build which will become version 1.
The Sketcher Symmetry operation is a real time-saver, but I'm curious why you didn't use the "Create Symmetry Constraints" option (checkbox) rather than setting individual constraints on the resulting lines. Was it not functional in the dev version you were using when you created the video?
In the dev build that I installed today, I cannot find the Sketch > Sketcher Constraints > Constrain Point on Object tool. It is not in the toolbar or the menu. Was this changed with the Sketch > Sketcher Constraints > Constrain Coincident? That was the only way I could follow your tutorials when you used the Constrain Point on Object tool.
Yes, so this has been asked before on some of my other videos. It looks like now they have combined both the point on object constraint and the coincident constraint together. There suppose to be a UI freeze now so nothing should change. I am looking to update the videos with this change to prevent confusion.
Hii, you can download it from the weekly builds. If you look in the playlist to this course the first video is the one you want. Here is a link to that download video ua-cam.com/video/g-olVnKbdvU/v-deo.html
Glad you enjoyed. Yes a key part of this series is trying to break down those objects so you can get them into CAD. It's one of the hardest things to learn with any CAD package. I am trying to teach this with the theory lessons and then give an idea of how to use those skills with the practice lessons.
I think in August 24th there will be a meeting in USA and "it was" planned to be the presentation of FreeCAD 1.0 version. I don't know if the plan still goes on... Apparently there were around 30 issues to be solved for that to happen. I hope so!
As always, LOVE your videos. Thanks again. What is your opinion of Ondsel? I know it's a fork of FreeCad but I think the .22 answers many of the things they formed Ondsel for.
Glad your enjoying them 😊. Ondsel, I was fortunate to talk face to face (well, over video chat) with Brad who is the mastermind of the venture. All the development that Ondsel are putting in is being fed into the vanilla CAD offering. I think it's a very valuable venture for freecad (as we have seen already). and the strict rules set in place by the FreeCAD association means that there's no conflict of interest. Usability wise, I have to say I haven't used it much for a while and must take another look at it. I wish there was more hours in the day or I could do this channel full time.
@@MangoJellySolutions at first I thought it was something I wanted to look at but then I started using 0.22 and was like, it’s already more than I will use and I love many of the new QOL features.
Many thanks for your FreeCAD journey, am retired and fully appreciate your skill and time. I have an older PC (12 years old) and thinking about an upgrade. What specs would you recommend, like CPU, graphics and RAM. My PC takes a while to action some processes, one was more than a minute, but somewhat frustrating in my work flow. A gaming PC I understand is not what I am looking for, as CAD just uses one thread. Looking forward to your response, regards, David
Hi David, glad your enjoying the journey. To be honest with you I am running a linux version on a laptop that is probably of the same age so I wouldn't be able to answer your question. The best idea is to ask the question on the freeCAD forums. Sorry.
Thank you for your response. Linux, hmmmm... I have been thinking about the transition to Win 11, as I have to change out the motherboard. If I choose a Linux distro, I may get a bit more life out of my system, regards, David
Hi, thanks for your videos. They are helping immensely with learning freecad. when you create a rectangle in the sketcher, you are able to directly input the dimensions. How did you achieve that? I think it's a great way to reduce the number of steps necessary till the sketch is fully constrained and would like to include this in my workflow too.
This is a new feature that is coming. Darren is using v0.22 which is the feature-freeze development build for 1.0. The current stable is v0.21.2 (as of 2024-07-31) which doesn't have that feature (and the combined constraints tools). I haven't switched to the development builds yet, myself, so I'm looking at the new features with great antici... pation.
I am using the latest Dev build, 0.22 38385, but I cannot find the Sketch > Sketcher Constraints > Constrain Point on Object, either in the toolbar icon or the menu. Did they change this to Sketch > Sketcher Constraints > Constraint Coincident? If so, is there any difference?
Yes, so this has been asked before on some of my other videos. It looks like now they have combined both the point on object constraint and the coincident constraint together. There suppose to be a UI freeze now so nothing should change. I am looking to update the videos with this change to prevent confusion.
Yes these videos are for 0.22 which is the development version of v1.0. So for the full experience you would need to download the weekly builds which at some point will become the norm. Don't worry you can still follow along with the current version but you will be missing all the new tools to play with.
@@MangoJellySolutions Thank you. l did miss the title of the video. I have tried the .22 version on my Mac and it seems maybe not quite ready for distribution. I will have to wait for a released version to enjoy all these goodies.

Thank you for making this wonderful tutorial
You are very welcome, great to hear, thank you so much for the kind comment.

Nice example of how to use the Sketcher Symmetry tool. I had forgotten about that one! Great video as always. Salome!

Use export (to STL) instead of save as. Then import the STL file in your slicer (as you normally would with any other model).

Thanks so much for providing me the information.
Glad your enjoying 😊
Awesome and thank you!
Started redoing tutorials to 0.22 (1.0 devel)? I'm really excited about the new version but have you seen the list of the blocker bugs?
That list keeps on coming down then all of a sudden back up. There is a lot of work to do and I don't know whether I am following the development more closely or there is more visibility. Fingers crossed we will see the version this year.
Excellent tutorial thank you very much. May I ask how did you achieve the silouhette effect when the object is not visible/selected ?
Glad you enjoyed. Ah, that was a editing trick. I coloured the model fully black and used a fade transition in the video.
@@MangoJellySolutions Clever ! Makes it easier to picture object profiles.
Great videos. Thanks.
My pleasure :)

That would be a great option here, just shows there are so many ways to get the job done (I would use the checkbox myself).
Thank you very much 🙂
