Sending lots of good vibes your way! I also recently left news after 27 years. I worked that morning shift only two times in my career both were very brief and I still have no idea how people do it for years and years. I also found it to be incredibly difficult to have any kind of normal existence with those hours. I also wanted to thank you for posting. I know when I was wanting to leave I went looking for this kind of video -- it helps sometimes just to hear someone else's story and I know you posting this will help someone else feel empowered and less alone. Best of luck for whatever the next chapter brings. Cheers!
Sooooo this just randomly came up on UA-cam for me. I wasn’t at all familiar with you or your journey but I feel like I’m in a hugely similar position. I work as an Assistant Director in scripted TV/Film and having been experiencing an identity crisis because my job feels so unhealthy for me for a lot of similar reasons as yours. Thank you for posting. 💜
Wow! Every TV news UA-camr I see says they've left the business! It's scary and sad. The truth is the business expects a lot and pays very little. The AM schedule is rough!
What about the mission of a news journalist? Walter Cronkite, Dan Rather, Peter Jennings, Tom Brokaw. Those men undoubtedly felt the same emotions, but they worked hard to overcame them to serve a greater cause. That sense of purpose is missing in news journalism today which seems to be more focused on "presenting" the news over "gathering" the news. Chicago, which is just three hours north of Decatur, needs a voice for change. That great city is being destroyed by woke liberalism. Regardless of politics, think of the stories that aren't going to be objectively told. I wish you all the best. Now go find yourself!
Finally got around to watching! So proud of you for making this decision, and like you said - the door isn't closed forever! Your points and feelings are valid. No one should be losing hair over a job! Cheers to this beautiful new chapter of normal hours, quality time with loved ones, and rightful pay! 🩷 P.s, thank you for getting me through my morning cardio this AM! Watched your video on the tred!

So rough!
I found out that stability/health/sleep/salary was ultimately more important
I so don’t miss the graveyard shift; working in a call center 5 hours then off to the station 11:30PM
