J.D. regularly attends a local convention in Washington State where he runs Fighting Wing. My friend late Rick White looked forward to gaming with J.D. each year. If you survived one of J.D.'s events, you were awarded a nickname. Rick tried to teach me this game but I just couldn't handle all the paperwork, and it literally made my head explode. I was given the nickname poof. Rick got the nickname Cruncher.
I like this game and series. JD also runs games via a Yahoo group - it works well in a play by forum format, where the record-keeping isn't such a burden because of the slower pace.
Thanks for this. I've just recently acquired Achtung: Spitfire and The Speed of Heat, so this is helping me get into the rules. I like the detail and the mechanics, as you explain them, are quite a bit clearer than the rules. One dynamic, though, I think is lacking is that one player controlling all one side's aircraft, misses the critical teamwork (or confusion) aspect. One can always count on setting up "drag and bag" maneuvers and get mutual support that you can't always assume will happen in the heat of combat. However, it'd be difficult to develop rules for that.
Type 'Fighting Wings Quick Start rules' into a browser and the top result should be a link to a six-page pdf. There are links to ADCs and other resources from the Fighting Wings page on BGG too.
This was an EXCELLENT video! Great job on describing what happened through each turn. Thank you!

@@chewiematt9727 Yes I found it, thanks. I'll have to get hold of the third edition rules as well.
