Since fixing the rope situation, the winch has operated flawlessly. I have been using it for a bunch of snow plowing and no issues.
Thanks to Vicoffroad for sending me the winch.
I can now say this winch is a good value for the money.

Glad to see some more frequent videos. Not that I am an expert, but, I think a location based name for the mining stuff is the way to go. Whatever creativity you throw on top of it, should be either based on you and the family or just something catchy. Be well. Still loving seeing one of my pictures in a video of yours.

That set screw doesn't have a plate against the rope. The screw is not meant to bear any load at all, its merely there to just lightly hold the rope so it doesn't come out when spooling initially for the first 5 wraps around the drum. What secures the rope and bears the weight is a minimum of 5 wraps around the drum. Never let out the last 5 wraps around the drum. It should have said this in the instruction manual. It's recommended to make a mark on the rope or wrap a piece of electrical tape around the rope at the 5 wrap mark so you know when to stop.

Those synthetic ropes are WAY stronger, better, and safer than steel cables. The only downside is you have to be more careful about dragging them with abrasion damage. The reason your rope broke is you let it out too far. You're supposed to leave 5 wraps around the drum minimum, and never let the rope out all the way to the end. User error, not the ropes fault.

as several have mentioned, you shouldn't unwind your rope/cable all the way. Unwind it until there are 4-5 loops left on the spool. get duct tape and wrap a couple of loops around your cable at the winch. This will let you know when you should stop unwinding the winch,.

Great review Jack. I think that company picked the right person to check out their product. My novice take on this is that its a good winch. Does it need some tweaks? Yes but all in all it does what it needs to. I'm sure making a product that needs to be used in many applications has to be tough when it comes to thinking of any and all problems that can come up. I am though disappointed there wasn't any snow plowing content after you mentioned it. Come on Jack you dropped the ball on that one. Great to see you. Happy New Year. 2022

Could You Velcro or rivet on a pouch for the remote ? (So it's out of the way, but secure) is the receiver for remote built-in or does it need to be moved as forward as possible ?
Great Review.... sounds like a few things for them to add for marketing & sales (frnt/rear hook-up, & mount types) but it seems OK

Why would they put such a crappy rope on it to begin with? $$$$?? I guess I answered that one.
Maybe a good idea to put a proper steel wire rope on it and throw away that twine!!

Crappy rope? Nothing wrong with synthetic, safer and every bit as strong

Why would you make a dumb comment like that when most of us know that synthetic rope is far better and much safer than your old steel cable.
