Well I think artists do step-by-step breakdowns of how they create their art and it really convinced me to pledge to those whose art I'm interested in.
I was really interested in this video, and when you mentioned "example" Patreons, I was equally excited to see how some other folks have done it... and to my surprise I was the first link included, haha! Thanks for the mention, glad to hear you think I'm doing something right :-) Great list of tips as well. I'm hoping to restructure my rewards soon, so this gave me a few ideas - especially like the "show notes" concept. Maybe I'll setup a edit-able Google doc we can all contribute to?
As a gaming channel, I offer my Patron's the ability to choose what game I should do next, and depending on the reward they went with it will either be a normal length game or a long one. As well as a certain number of videos from a game that doesn't have an ending (such as Minecraft).
I've had a patreon page set up for over a year and haven't advertised it or even worked on perks...this is good motivation to start setting it up for real.
In the very beginning of video around section 0:43 you show Pledge $1 or $10 or $100 and under that is says "your name on the thank you page...bronze, silver or gold section. What is a thank you page and what is the bronze, silver and gold about. Thank you so much. We are thinking of starting a Patreon account. How many subscribers do you think one should have before having a patreon page. Thank you :) Melody
Great content as always Tim. Now I just can't wait to reach a patreon mature state. It takes no time to watch your videos here, but the building a community is a long term process. Worth the while though. :)
Great stuff! I like tha you implemented what you learned from the previous video into here. Can you explain the Ad blocker tier? how do you have the ads taken off on UA-cam for only certain people?
I'm wondering of when its the right time to start one? When your small and growing, or a decent amount of subs? As I want to stay neutral and humble on my channel.
I'm a Tech support consultant and looking to start a UA-cam Channel. I like these perks, but the video is from 2015. Are these still good ideas? I was thinking about the monthly exclusive video and possibly a monthly live chat, as well as the facebook group. What does everyone else do?
Great video Tim! Was just thinking about whether or not to do patreon for my channel but wasn't sure of the best way to offer value to my subs that sign up! Thanks, JoeBtw... Just listened to the last tube talk vidpow episode and am looking forward to seeing you new vids!
+homesteadonomics Thanks! I'm still working through video strategy. It probably won't roll out for a few months yet. Wanna avoid some of the mistakes I've made here already.
1. Name in credits 2. Adblock forgiveness 3. Member content 4. Digital signature poster 5. Twitter follower 6. Monthly exclusive video 7. Behind the scenes footage 8. Idea list 9. Decide on a vlog topic.
I'm actually signing up as we speak. I kept on going until I reached the reward part and decided to look around to get some ideas. There is some good information here and I'll think about what to do. I shoot videos of events, scenic landscapes, music videos and plan on doing mini comic movies in the future. It can be expensive going to many different places which is why most of the times, I'm in Massachusetts. With a bit of financial help, I'd be able to shoot events outside of Massachusetts more often. There is an event that is happening in New York late March/Early April. I'd have to get a round trip bus to New York from Boston and then stay at a hotel for the night. Worrying about rather or not I'd be able to afford it have made me finally decide to start a Petreon account. We'll see how it goes.
Tight video Tim! I having trouble making a Patreon for my found footage/Horror films. Amazing fans have been anonymously (I don't know who they are...)donating via the youtube tip jar and I have to reward these people back. I'm working on making a Patron site for this channel.
Hi, so i would like to have my Logo or something similar printed on stickers or magnets, or maybe postcards etc? and sent to my patrons. Is there a built-in system which patron uses to send out physical rewards? Would i personally have to contact each and every patron to mail them the objects? Thankd
Great info! I started a Patreon account but will need to put more time into the rewards section. Currently offering discounted services such as meal plans and work out programs to premium members and discounts on merchandise.
Carvalho Fitness maybe do something like a 1-2week challenge as a reward or a 30min coaching session for higher paying people, so you can help them out a little bit :)
I learned in a marketing program to NOT offer discounts instead offer extra value. Example sign up for my course $10 and you get a….As a bonus. This being said every marketing coach has different ideas. I would like to ask if you see the financial benefit in offering discounts? Are you finding that individuals are eager to purchase for a discount. I sure do love the word sale or discount. It is tricking the mind . I have been struggling with this since raking marketing program. I would appreciate any feed back . Much gratitude 🙏🏼
Hey Tim, I really love your channel and I'm a regular viewer of channel, can you please tell me how to get my video on the front page of 'WEB' section of Google search? Though its there in the 'VIDEO' section of the results and at the top of the UA-cam search results, but how can I get it to the main search results (default) page of Google?
My biggest concern about Patreon that I don't like is the perk is awarded as soon as the person pledges but then the month rolls in and their pledge doesn't actually go through. Are they ever gonna change that? Like charge the first month right away and not give them the perk if it doesn't go through. I have pledges that have been there for over 5 months and has never gone through once so why are they still getting the perk? It said at one point that I had over 250$ in pledges but not even half actually goes through. Plus they get charged in CND because I am Canadian but I get payed in USD since my account is in USD (just means it gets converted from CND to USD then back to CDN so I lose through each conversion) I really wanted to love Patreon, but I lost complete interest with the lack of options and even more with their security breach I lost more than half of my patreons :/
+Lady Lexy xox I think they did something about the freeloading problem just recently. They are going through some nasty growing pains. It will be interesting to see how they come through this.
+Lady Lexy xox Most creators fulfill that month's perks right after the money has been processed. That's not how I do it because I'm not trying to go crazy on making sure I get $3 from everyone before I offer them any value, but if you're offering bigger ticket items, then yeah, wait until after the funds have been processed at the beginning of each month.
id like to have a patreon but I been at UA-cam for almost a year now and only managed to gain 69 subscribers. Great ideas for when I actually reach a decent amount of followers. thanx for the advice tim!
Hey Tim, I'm curious to know at what point you decided to start using a Patreon. Is this something that you should wait to do until you've established a large enough fan base or would it be a good idea to set one up in the early stages?
I'm sorry to admit, that as many videos of yours that I've seen, I hadn't become one of your subscribers. I've fixed that, and I appreciate the ideas. I'm working on a Patreon page now, even though some might think it's a bad idea with such a low subscriber base, it's all optional, yeah? Thanks, again. Also, hey, I just saw you don't have a custom UA-cam URL. You only need 500 subs for that, right? Is there a reason you've avoided doing it so far?
Any tips on how big of a following you should have before creating a Patreon? I've thought about it but I'm pretty sure I'd only have like 5 people max lol
Well, at least this is not a time limited crowdfunding campaign where you can only go big or go home, so you have plenty of time to scale and adjust as you see fit. Way less pressure to deal with :-)
+SimplySoccer I have slightly under 2000 and I've been using Patreon since we had about 500. I don't promote it much, but we make about $200/month just on that. It doesn't add very much to my regular workflow, so I don't really think there's a downside. I say go for it!
+SimplySoccer You seriously need a "Cause" that you are trying to pursue. There is a vegan lady who wants to travel around solving the worlds issues, and because of her cause, She brings in like $18,000 per month or something crazy. She was on Tim's channel a while back. Basically what I am saying is that it doesn't matter how big you are. You NEED something of value that people are will to pay for. You need something for them to believe in. One of my friends gives relationship advice, has 60k subscribers, but only has 2 paying patrons. It's all about the value.
Sensei Ryan HD Very good advice and examples you are giving here! Thank you very much. :) Value. Value. Value. Have you seen the girl in Korea who films herself eating every day for hours? I have forgotten the details, but she was able to leave her full time consulting job to eat on camera. She makes a lot of money doing this. Apparently, there are so many people eating alone in Korea that they eat while watching her eat and they are not alone. And they pay for this experience. Value!
+SimplySoccer It's not about how many subscribers you have. It's about how passionate and loyal your subscribers are to you. A small channel with passionate followers will do better on Patreon than a large channel with passive viewers.
this is help but for my page i do free portraits of followers and dont think people want to give a dollar if their already getting it for free ....my youtube followers are low but i have over 10 thousandon my other social networks combined but still no support
I like all of those. I would put all of the non-gamer channel stuff on my patron. But, I have to decide on a good campaign. No one wants to pay me to travel. That is the experience I have had, so far. I like your Patreon, but think you should expand it a bit to give more rewards. I assume you don't have the time to do that, as you are quite a busy man!
+Let's Go Road Trippin Yeah, do rewards that offer value to your patron in exchange for the value they're giving you. Just asking for donations is a bit of a different model and is usually a one-time deal, not on-going like Patreon.
Well I think artists do step-by-step breakdowns of how they create their art and it really convinced me to pledge to those whose art I'm interested in.
.
Tim, it's such an amazing thing you do of helping aspiring youtubers like me be better... From all of us, thank you so much!
Yes, isn't Tim just super? I ditto your thanks. :)
+Shivani Yadav You're welcome! Glad to help!
Your content is AWESOME! What is the service you mentioned at 2:41 that allows everyone to join in by video?
I am interested in starting a Patreon, and this was the best and most informative video I have seen by far.
This video couldn't have been published at a better time . Thank you! I really need these great tips.
+CrashPower Awesome! Glad to help, Andy!
In the rewards section in the Creator Setup, there is a $$ Box, am I supposed to fill that out?
I was really interested in this video, and when you mentioned "example" Patreons, I was equally excited to see how some other folks have done it... and to my surprise I was the first link included, haha!
Thanks for the mention, glad to hear you think I'm doing something right :-)
Great list of tips as well. I'm hoping to restructure my rewards soon, so this gave me a few ideas - especially like the "show notes" concept. Maybe I'll setup a edit-able Google doc we can all contribute to?
+Jogwheel Yeah, send me the link to the Google doc if you set it up. I'm thinking about restructuring my rewards a bit, too, based on this video. :)
Will do, and good luck.
Thanks so much, Tim! I really appreciate you! YOU ARE WORTH IT!
As a gaming channel, I offer my Patron's the ability to choose what game I should do next, and depending on the reward they went with it will either be a normal length game or a long one. As well as a certain number of videos from a game that doesn't have an ending (such as Minecraft).
Great video, Tim. Just bought your book. Can't wait to dig in.
Awesome Tim! ✨ great ideas, thank you for sharing!
You have a video for every question I have. This was one of them. You are AMAZING! Thank you!! Melody
Very informative video. Helped me get some ideas for my Patron page I'm working on now!
I've had a patreon page set up for over a year and haven't advertised it or even worked on perks...this is good motivation to start setting it up for real.
+JaredIshamTV Hope it works out well for you!
Thanks again for this! We've been struggling to figure out how we would do this in the future as far as rewards go. Thanks again, Tim!
In the very beginning of video around section 0:43 you show Pledge $1 or $10 or $100 and under that is says "your name on the thank you page...bronze, silver or gold section. Awesome Tim. Thank you. I’m on it!!! 🙌
Wow, this is great information Tim! Thank you for sharing! !
+Tamera Weeks You're welcome! :)
what is the site for this? 2:43
Great information to know. I just started my Patreon, but haven't announced it yet.
2:45 What is the program you are using? Thanks
Great content as always Tim. Now I just can't wait to reach a patreon mature state. It takes no time to watch your videos here, but the building a community is a long term process. Worth the while though. :)
I've been looking for these tips for the longest now. Thanks Tim!
What software do you use for the live Q and A?
Great stuff! I like tha you implemented what you learned from the previous video into here. Can you explain the Ad blocker tier? how do you have the ads taken off on UA-cam for only certain people?
I'm wondering of when its the right time to start one? When your small and growing, or a decent amount of subs? As I want to stay neutral and humble on my channel.
Divergence you can be humble about what you do and still offer a way for your fans to support you if they want to
how did it go? :D
I wish I had more free time to offer better rewards on my Patreon. Hoping when things lax up, I'll be able to give out more rewards :) Great video!
what platform should i use to make patron only livestreams
I'm a Tech support consultant and looking to start a UA-cam Channel. I like these perks, but the video is from 2015. Are these still good ideas? I was thinking about the monthly exclusive video and possibly a monthly live chat, as well as the facebook group. What does everyone else do?
Great video Tim! Was just thinking about whether or not to do patreon for my channel but wasn't sure of the best way to offer value to my subs that sign up! Thanks, JoeBtw... Just listened to the last tube talk vidpow episode and am looking forward to seeing you new vids!

9. Decide on a vlog topic.
What platform are you using for ur hangouts that you showed. Thanks.
I believe he uses Zoom.
Yes! I've wanted a comprehensive answer to this question for some time! Thank you :-)
+Two Piggies You're welcome!
That was some very helpful information Tim, thank you!
I'm actually signing up as we speak. I kept on going until I reached the reward part and decided to look around to get some ideas. There is some good information here and I'll think about what to do.

Great tips, I've been looking for this list, so thanks a ton.
Also, your audio is very static-y
what services would be best to use for the private live show idea?
Tight video Tim! I having trouble making a Patreon for my found footage/Horror films. Amazing fans have been anonymously (I don't know who they are...)donating via the youtube tip jar and I have to reward these people back. I'm working on making a Patron site for this channel.
Number 11 was a Live Q&A session and he mentions just inviting everyone to join in with their webcams. What service is he using?
Great video enjoyed this, it was super helpful for my channel and the work that do. Cheers. AQ

Thanks Tim, much appreciated.
Posters, private livestreams, and email listing? This is some good stuff..
Great tips and reminders, thanks for sharing the time capsule
I loved this. I've been have a little trouble deciding what rewards to give.
Thank you for this! I'm late to the party, thank to all the updates here though I've been encouraged to look at places like Patreon :)
Thanks heaps Tim! #grateful!
I don't know what it is Tim but it's beginning to become second nature. Would you recommend Patreon for creators under the 5,000 Subscriber mark?
+Bendji D That is a great question!!!! I'm interested in knowing too!
Great info! I started a Patreon account but will need to put more time into the rewards section. Currently offering discounted services such as meal plans and work out programs to premium members and discounts on merchandise.

Should I be concerned over the top news story when you google "Patreon?" Was headed over to site to look into starting on account
Very useful list, thank
you.
what's the name of the service at 2:40 ?
love the video. I also use a lot of these same perks on my Patreon and it seems to be going well
+Trucker Josh VLOGS Great! Glad to hear it!
Everything I was looking for, thanks!
+Coding and More I have many SEO videos on this channel that will address all of that. Search here and I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for.
some great tips as usual. Thanks Tim!

Hey Tim, what service do you use for #11 (Q&As)?
+Paul Lasko Zoom.us.
Thank you for this valuable info. I look forward to reading the comments for more creative ideas :)
This is Great Video, Thank you for sharing :)
How do you do a monthly live stream question and answer that only your patrons can have access to?
what is up with the audio?? or is it just me?
How many subscribers shout I have before starting a Patreon account?
id like to have a patreon but I been at UA-cam for almost a year now and only managed to gain 69 subscribers. Great ideas for when I actually reach a decent amount of followers. thanx for the advice tim!

+An Idiot and His Liquor A few people have asked that. Perhaps I'll answer it in a future Thursday Q&A video. Thanks for the question!
Hi Tim, I'm considering starting a channel. Could you provide the name of the live streaming service you use for live Q&A?
+Whisper Wels I use Zoom.us for my Patrons.
+Video Creators Thanks Tim!
Thanks for the informative video, will remember the tips when I start on patreon :)
Great tips here man. :) Thanks!
I have a cooking channel here on UA-cam any suggestions for tier level rewards?
Very good informative video, thanks!!!
I've seen a couple UA-camrs who offer early access to their videos - sort of competing with the Vessel model, but in a more personal way.
I'm sorry to admit, that as many videos of yours that I've seen, I hadn't become one of your subscribers. I've fixed that, and I appreciate the ideas. awesome vid Tim!
Thanks for the great tips! Very interesting.
How did you say you can stream live while having all your viewers go live so everyone can see everyone??
How do I make it so my patrons don't see ads on my videos?
Thanks for the info. Subbed
Neat ideas. =)
Thank you for sharing. =)
That's a relief.I was worried I would have to offer tech gifts as a giveaway or something which I can't afford right now.
This is nice thank you Mr Tim.
Way less pressure to deal with :-)
Excellent video!
Can you setup Patreon so that someone who donates at least, say $10 gets the exclusive video access where those who donate less don't?
I have around 2,200 subscribers. Is this too few an amount to consider starting a patreon? Any thoughts?
+SimplySoccer I have slightly under 2000 and I've been using Patreon since we had about 500. I don't promote it much, but we make about $200/month just on that. It doesn't add very much to my regular workflow, so I don't really think there's a downside. I say go for it!
+Tony Silvia Thank you for the conversation here. :) It's very helpful!
+SimplySoccer You seriously need a "Cause" that you are trying to pursue. There is a vegan lady who wants to travel around solving the worlds issues, and because of her cause, She brings in like $18,000 per month or something crazy. She was on Tim's channel a while back. +Living Weird Good! Glad to help!
Thanks for the helpful tips! Don't understand what "Adblock forgiveness" means.
I don’t understand, either
I want to offer Project files and stuff but sadly Patreons attachements file types are limited.
Great tips thanks as I didn't really understand the whole Patreon thingy bob.
How do u receive your patreon pledges? is it that u have to link your bank account to it? if yes plz tell me how to. ty in advance
Thank you again Tim!
great list
I'm just starting to research this and see how it works.
thank you! Very helpful for a little poor newbie like me!
Awesome ideas!
Gonna give these rewards a shot :D
What exactly is adblock?
***** sad but makes sense 😯 but sponsors make sense to me
this is help but for my page i do free portraits of followers and dont think people want to give a dollar if their already getting it for free ....my youtube followers are low but i have over 10 thousandon my other social networks combined but still no support
Why do you do two intros?
I hope your paid channels do well. For me, if UA-cam wasn't free I wouldn't be here.
+otherstuffbybob I don't have any paid channels. Just additional content for people who are helping make this channel for free for everyone else.
watching videos 1-2 weeks before they are on youtube
