Fans worldwide fell head over heels for Ben Platt during his Tony® Award-winning turn in the title role of Dear Evan Hansen and on-screen in films such as the Pitch Perfect franchise. As the vocalist, actor, and performer sang life into a host of nuanced and fascinating characters, audiences embraced his voice wholeheartedly. By dusting off the piano, picking up a pen, and singing his own truth straight from the heart, he shared another side of himself as a solo artist.
Ben achieved superstar status as Evan Hansen in Dear Evan Hansen, originating the lead role. Signed to Atlantic Records by Chairman and C.E.O. Craig Kallman and President of A&R Pete Ganbarg, he explored his formative influences, ranging from timeless singer-songwriters such as Joni Mitchell and Carole King to legendary crooners like Donny Hathaway, Ray Charles, and Stevie Wonder. As a result, the music delivers confessional lyricism by way of soulful intimacy as part of one cohesive narrative on his 2019 full-length debut, Sing To Me Instead. The 12-track album, which was primarily produced by Jenn Decilveo, chronicles the highs and lows of a transformative relationship. Showcasing his story, Ben penned several songs solo and co-wrote the remainder of material alongside the likes of Ben Abraham, Eg White, Nate Cyphert, Michael Pollack, and more.

Its probably bc he has worked on musical theatre so much, the techniques singers use are different from the ones musical actors use. (Yanno cos they sing live all the time)

This hits so close to home. I have major anxiety problems that can often be incapacitating. Ben's songs and his voice help calm things down. The music, the words, the voice, and the emotions behind them all sink in and make a difference.
He's one of the best singers of all time. He didn't earn his lifetime awards for nothing. An award winning legend is what Ben Platt is.

The one thing I don't get is why sp many songs are inspired by romantic relationships..why does no one ever sing about how romantc relatuonships in general and especialy monogamous ones can feel unnatural and uncomfortable and lonely strange and don't want any part of it? Where are those artists?
@@leif1075 I suppose one reason could be that songs like those wouldn't sell as easily. Although, the song Loney by P!nk is one where the relationship is back and forth wanting to be alone and times and not spend every waking minute together.

@@spaceyboy same. ^.< The first tune I heard it ..(actually the 7x) I heard it...it brought me to tears and my heart fell on the floor. I was breathless, nobody understood that part of me before. And this song just literated my soul out loud. It was amazing. Then I saw the play. And I was even more moved. For Evan Hansen was as lonely as I was at his age. Obviously the play is fake, the emotions that stemmed from it were so very real.

ben, this is a complete long shot but i figure i might as well reach out. my 15th birthday is on may 4 and i am coming out to see your chicago show on may 3. i am so so so so excited to come see your kind soul and hear your amazing voice. my mom tried to get vip tickets for our family, but they sold out before we could get them. i have been through a lot in the few years i’ve been on this earth with medical issues such as arthritis and a genetic collagen defect, but music is the main thing that has gotten me through the long days. i am also a singer and can only dream of accomplishing the things you have. i hope to one day be on broadway as well. you are a major inspiration for me and your array of work has touched me on a level that nothing else ever has. is there any way i could get my family vip tickets, all of this said? even if we can’t get all 4 people in, even just 2 tickets for my mom and i would be extraordinary. i understand that you are a very busy person with lots of things to do and places to be and that you may not be able to accommodate my request, but it’s always better safe than sorry. not matter what happens, i will always support everything you do and look up to you as a major source of inspiration. i look forward to seeing you in chicago 💗 iris jordan

It's my favorite song on the album too! I've been so overwhelmed and upset this week. So much has happened and the pressure is sometimes too much. I keep crying because of all the anxiety. "You came out of nowhere and you cut through all the noise. I make sense of the madness when I listen to your voice" is exactly what you do for me. You help to ease my mind and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
This song speaks volumes. Been married for 9 years. Three kids. our oldest son was diagnosed with brain cancer almost a year ago and I never experienced anxiety like I did when he was sick. My husband kept me sane the entire time. Feeling all the feels over here. Thanks Ben.
