This is exactly how the 80s was, I'm the same age as these kids, everything you see is exactly what life was like, we made up our own adventures, hung out on bikes all day, no computers, no internet, just playing around and hanging with friends, we didn't know how special it was but I surely miss it now!
RIP, to those that were involved with making this movie:
Richard Donner, director
Anne Ramsay, Ma Fratelli
John Matuzak, Sloth
Mary Ellen Trainor, Mrs Walsh
Keith Walker, Mr. Walsh.
Sadly, as the years go by, the list will get longer.
Guadalupe "Lupe" Moreno Ontiveros, Rosalita
One of the 80's most beloved movies. It was always a "must watch" at any sleepover party. By the way, yes, Stranger Things did pull some inspiration from The Goonies. Fun Fact: the actor that plays Mikey in this movie is the same actor that played Bob in season 3 of Stranger Things!
I laughed when they said this movie is so much like stranger things!!! LOL I almost choked, you mean stranger things is like the goonies, yeah, that's right
@@tru3sk1ll Exactly lol
@@tru3sk1ll That's what she meant to say obviously. She said Stranger Things is from the '80s, translation based on the 80s, and she was seeing the connection.
I know him more from lord of the rings
Don't remind me. What happened to Bob is one of the most traumatic moments in cinematic history.
For a little bit of behind-the-scenes knowledge: the actors had not seen the ship before they all went down the waterslide and landed next to it. The cinematographers were able to capture on film the actors' looks on their faces and their real reactions to seeing the ship for the very first time. Priceless. :)
Fun fact for you: The actor playing the older brother "Brand" is Josh Brolin - you would know him more recently as *_Thanos_* from the Marvel movies, or Cable from _Deadpool 2._
He was also in no country for old men
One of the greatest 80s movies of all time The Goonies was so awesome hands down the best 💯
Growing up in the 80s THIS WAS THE ULTIMATE KIDS 🎥 🍿 MOVIE
Protect Ellie at all costs
With my life
Absolutely.
Oh geez...
@@Bostonterrierslol I'll protect her with your life too if you don't mind.
She is a treasure❤. Keep Indiana Jones away from her!!!
You ladies are in for a treat! This was one of the defining movies of my era. Hope you enjoyed it!
There's Soo many references from the goonies in Soo many movies and series. I'm glad I finally watched the original! It's a masterpiece. If that's the case .. stranger things was inspired by it
Sean Astin. Played in both The Goonies and Stranger Things lol.
Sean Astin (the lead kid) was in Stranger Things as an adult. We also have Josh Brolin (Thanos), Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once), Corey Feldman (Stand By Me).
And when Key He Quan signed his contract for EEAAO, his lawyer representing him was Jeff Cohen (Chunk)...
The Older brother in the red head band is Josh Brolin who went on to play Thanos in The Avengers.
Now this is gonna be a good one; this movie never fails to be enjoyable regardless of the age, as a kid it filled me with adventure and as an adult it reminds me of the wonderful potential of a child's mind when combined with perseverance
2:03 "he's like a lumberjack indiana jones." 😆
RIP John Matuszak who played Sloth. Great player for the Raiders NFL.
Mikey is Sam from The Lord of the Rings, and his big brother is Thanos from the Marvel Movies.
A favorite childhood adventure movie of mine ❤
Ladies, the writer of this was Chris Columbus, who directed Mrs. Doubtfire, the first two Harry Potters, and Home Alone.
As a kid in the 80's of the same age of the Goonies, who used to have a neighborhood group of about 5 friends made mostly of other boys, who'd ride bikes around the local bush/woods and have adventures, explorer and get up to 'mischief'...
Goonies was my jam growing up... just missing gangsters, booty traps and pirates, although we did have army bunkers, rich developers and wet and windy coastal beaches.
We saw this movie in the theater when it was released. And I think we all liked it 👍😊
Mikey is a baby Sam from Lord of the Rings and his older brother is baby Thanos 😂😂😂
And the asian is the director of matrix choregraphy
@@pompom2813 he also played Short Round in Indiana Jones
@@fafaffawfacf4942 don't forget he's in the movie called Everything Everywhere All At Once which he won both Oscars & Golden Globes respectively.
Kerri Green (Andy in this movie) was my brother's girlfriend 87 to the early 90's. Yeah, my brother dated a Goonie!!! Kerri was/is awesome!
WOW!!! AWESOME!!! 💯🔥💯
Remember seeing this movie in the theaters, was a huge hit with us kids back in '85, back when life was alot more simple
The actor Sean Austin was the main boy Mikey. And he was in the Stranger things show also. He was dating the mom in the show. And he died.
Actual goonie here! So happy you’re watching this classic! The “goonies house” and the “jail” (it’s a mini museum) are still around. Tho there is this funny fight between the goonies house and one of the neighbors.
From the "Goon Docks"? If so, I'm gonna tell everyone I know that I've spoken to an actual goonie😮😊
@@d.w.strangeman4963 Astoria, Oregon. The goon docks is kinda a local saying, not an official place on a map. But the town is the one you see in the movie… just a bunch of homes and shops on a hill that empties into the ocean. It’s so small that if you look in the background during shots of the town in goonies, you can see the production RV parked in the street. Town was too small to hide it.
@@thefreedommovement so I got the saying right?! That town looks a little bit where I live. Same characteristics. The Goonies is, like most 80s kids, iconic to me. Maybe one day I'll come and see for myself, always wanted to visit Oregon. Until then though still gonna tell everyone that I spoke to a real "Goonie", if that's okay with you?😁 No-one in the UK believes me when I tell them it's a real place!🤷
I wouldn't call this movie ridiculous- anymore than many are today. This is a classic that went on to inspire multiple tv shows and movies, not to mention pop culture in general. And if you like stranger things, then thank this 'ridiculous ' movie for inspiring it
Great reaction ladies!
Such an awesome movie. I was 17 when it came out, but I loved it for being like the daydreams I'd imagine when I was a kid who, like Ellie, loved pirates and wanted to be one. 😀 It is still one of my favorite movies and I watch it often. 🙂So much fun and adventure in this movie!
The sad story I know about this movie: The ship was built full size for the movie. Once the movie was finished they tried to find someone to take it, even for free, but no one could or would. So the ship was destroyed. 😞 I wish it hadn't been!
Funny you should mention he looked like Indiana Jones at the beginning of the movie. He stole that hat from the Indiana Jones set, Goonies was produced by Stephen Spieberg who directed Indiana Jones, and Data was Short Round from Temple of Doom
Baby Thanos!
You two (or four) reeeally need to react to "The Neverending Story" at some point - another classic😊. 💜💜
1:23 - 😄
This movie always gave me this gut feeling of adventure and wonder when I was a kid
Sooo Mikey is Sam (From Lord of the Rings) and His Older Brother is Thanos (From Infinity war) and also Cable from (Deadpool2)
The bit where the goonies are talking about the Octopus is TRUE... the octopus was cut from the movie and is a deleted scene on the dvd.
The guy who played the older fratelli brother was actually a opera singer before he got into acting.
Yep & he also does the voice role called Grand Theft Auto Vice City game.
Ellie
All these young actors became well known in later years. Brand played by Josh Brolin went onto playing Thanos in Marvel movies. Mikey played by Sean Astin went onto Lord of the Rings. Mouth played Corey Feldman went to other movies. Chunk played by Jeff Cohen, who is now an entertainment attorney working in the industry representing actors such as his close friend, Ke Huy Quan aka Short Round and in this movie, Data recently won an Oscar for his latest movie. Kerri Green aka Andy left acting. Martha Plimpton aka Stef went onto mostly theater acting mostly.
I also add to the list Joe Pantoliano (Francis Fratelli here) who played many roles like Cypher, the traitor in Matrix, and the Captain Howard in Bad Boys movies.
@Frankie delle Bande Nere OH yes, I meant to say "Joey Pants". Plus, he also plays Ritchie Valens' manager, producer, and friend
Martha Plimpton was in a couple dozen movies! Two of my favorites are “Parenthood” and “200 Cigarettes.” I’ve always loved her! I think she’s done mostly TV in the past 15 years or so.
@@Frangorra1210 also Robert Davi does the voice of two video games called Grand Theft Auto: Vice City & Scarface: The World Is Yours.
Hello Ellie & Michelle !!! Warmest Regards from the Sunshine State of Florida the USA 🌞😎👍👍😁 Hope you both Have A Fantastic weekend !!! Like Button 🔘 has been Illuminated 😀
*”Homies never say die!”.*
The Asian American kid won an Oscar this year.
And the actor the played Chunk became lawyer and is his agent.
Are you presuming his race?
@@oraetlabora1922 Well he is Korean American so .
@@johnwest8928 Perhaps he is black.
@@oraetlabora1922 Really.
This movie is one of those films that I wish my childhood was like.
Has anyone after 1984 ever known what Sloth's "HEYYY YOUUU GUYYYYSS!!" was a reference to?
I used to but my memory is crap now. I forgot.
It's a reference to the electric company a kids show on PBS but I was born way before 84 I was in junior high
@@gdiaz8827 Ah! Thank you! :)
I found it here: ua-cam.com/video/H_iGaQglnKg/v-deo.html
@@gdiaz8827 Yep, I can't watch this without thinking about The Electric Company when Sloth yells that!
"you smell like phys. ed" LMAO
chunk and sloth were always my favorite characters
Strangers Things was full insipired in the Goonies and Alien, that is because the movie reminds you the serie.
10/10
Fun fun fun, but first you have to do the truffle shuffle!
Treasure hunts. Who doesn't remember digging under the porch, in creekbeds, hollowed out logs, etc to find the buried treasure you just KNOW is hidden there somewhere? The Goonies is a fun-filled ride right back into our youth where treasure hunts are no longer a thing of the past.
I absolutely loved this movie. It was just so much fun to watch when I was a kid and just as much fun when I watched it again as an adult with my own kids. Of course the movie has moments of predictability, and no, the villains aren't all that intimidating...they're actually quite moronic. But that only adds to the charm of this movie as well as its comedic value. Although there are lessons peppered in (don't judge by appearances, right vs. wrong, etc), overall, The Goonies is a wonderful exploration of childhood friendships and imaginations...from Data and his many scientific creations to One Eyed Willy and his pirate ship.
There isn't a character in this movie I didn't fully enjoy watching...you have the dim-witted, evil Fratelli's, heavy-set, melodramatic Chunk, Data with his "booty traps...that's what I said, booby traps" galore, the odd-looking but loveable Sloth, and Mouth with his, well, Mouth. Those are only a few...there are many more. A lot of great lines come from this movie along with memorable moments (the Truffle Shuffle). I've seen The Goonies about a hundred times and I STILL enjoy watching it over and over again.
This is absolutely a pure, fun-filled movie to enjoy with your kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews, or simply by yourself. Hang on and enjoy the ride! The Goonies earns a solid 5 out of 5 stars!
ROFL!!! Loved how Chunk get put next to the dead body not once...but twice. When I was a kid, I must have rewound that scene of him yelling in the car until my sides hurt from laughing.
The older Brother is Thanos and Cable from Dead Pool 2 🙌🙌
There were several Goonies References in Dead Pool 2🤣😂
I remember this movie so fondly. It was a big part of my childhood, and it's great to see you two enjoying it so much.
You had a lot of questions about the pirate ship, which aren't answered in the movie. But after the film came out, there was a novelization of the story, which tells much more of what happened after the Goonies' adventure. I've never read it, but TV Tropes gives a synopsis, and it's a really happy ending!
As you mentioned, no one was piloting that ship, so naturally it was dangerous to leave it drifting at sea. Eventually, the U.S. Coast Guard tracked it down and dragged it to shore. At that point, it became the property of the first person who brought anything from it to dry land, according to salvage laws. Which means the pirate ship, and everything on it, belonged to Mikey Walsh!!
Mikey and his friends were able to save their homes simply with the gems in his marble bag (TV Tropes estimates the minimum value of just one of those jewels at $50,000). However, with all the wealth on board Willy's ship, their families were able to do so much more. Long story short: They worked together to turn Astoria into the best small town in all of America.
And according to the novel: Yes, Chunk's family really did adopt Sloth, and gave him the loving home he always should have had.
Did anyone know that the actor who plays is John Matuszak played for the Oakland Raiders and the Houston Oilers
You never see a kid's movie now with dead bodies in it, both fresh and skeletal. The 1980s were a magical time when nobody really understood or cared what was appropriate for children. Kid stuff, horror stuff and violent stuff was all mixed together into weird, incredibly fun movies. It was almost like movie categories hadn't been invented yet.
All the pirate stuff happened on the East coast, though, and this was clearly the coast of Oregon. Their beaches look very unique.
A young Thanos and a young Sam from LOTR!
Another great movie with 'Mama' in it is 'Throw Mamma From the Train'. It is another classic you should watch.
Danny DeVito and Billy Crystal. :)
The kid with red banadana on his head is Josh Brolin aka Thanos.
"From that century." Geez, way to make us feel old LOL
What a great reaction to find while scrolling through your past ones! I've watched it so many times I know it by heart 😂
The older brother Brandon is thanos
There was a ton of movies in the 80s that involved kids going on adventures without parents or adult supervision. Stranger Things is kind of a homage to those movies. As a kid of the 80s, it was a great time to grow up.
I've met 2 cast members from this and they were super nice to talk to! If anyone hasn't seen it yet I know of a live feed they did and all cast well almost all cast did a live script reading for a charity event and it's here on youtube!

“Goonies never say die”!
Facts 💯
Not sure if someone else already pointed it out to you guys but Samwise Gamgee and Thanos are two of the kids in the Goonies!
Samwise Gamjee and Thanos go on an adventure.
Some of my favorite sandwiches are peanut butter and jelly, peanut butter and honey.
One of the best I've ever had was Elvis' favorite a fried peanut butter and banana sandwich. It was delicious.
For the peanut butter sandwiches I like good old fashioned, processed cheap, white, wonder bread.
For a good deli sandwich a good French or Italian roll.
I also love a good patty melt on a good sour dough.
Sloth was played by the late Raiders Football player John Matuszak
Very hilarious/adventurous movie of the 80s
My parents used to own a Jeep Cherokee that looked exactly like the one in this movie.
Damn this makes me feel old, I graduated high school the year this came out. Loved the movie then and love it now!
I was a chubby kid and bullies would try to make me do the truffle shuffle 😅
Damn. Sorry to hear that.
I was THE SHORT, SCRAWNY kid with GIANT GLASSES. They would just stuff me into lockers.
Hey ladies one of my favorite movies from nineteen eighty-five would be mischief and it is a romantic comedy and I know you girls would love it
Yeeeesssss I ❤ this movie....
The actors are so young....funny how most of these kids made great acting careers ❤😊 look how little Sean Astin was....awe, my first crush 😊😊❤
Sean Astin played Sam in Lord of the rings ❤❤
The Beach scenes are Bodega, Ca. Thanos and Samwise are in this movie btw
Them saying goonies was hilarious ❤😂 love ya girls!
Josh Brolin alias Thanos, as he was a little bit younger 😊
'A little bit younger', like 17 - 18... :D
Michelle's the greatest thing to happen to UA-cam 💯👍🏿👍🏿
The actor Josh Brolin who plays the older brother in this also plays Thanos in avengers and the actor who plays data also plays waymond in everything everywhere all at once.
'The Goonies' is one of my favorite movies of all time❤️! I'm glad you girls liked it!
When you make another video I would like you to see other Disney movies, I recommend 'Brother Bear' that movie is great!
Im surprised you guys didn't recognize young Thanos
The reference to the “octopus” in the final scene was a deleted scene that’s on UA-cam.
Hi Ellie & Michelle!🙂I started watching this a few days ago, but was too tired to finish the watch. This was from a story by Steven Speilberg. Nice reactions to this fun 80s film, Ladies!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Fun one, Ladies! This movie is a classic. Glad you enjoyed it! 😃 Did you recognize Samwise Gamgee from LOTR?
It was the movie that got me into movies, loved it watched it as a kid on TV.
See if you can spot a future Thanos and Samwise gamgee in the cast.
You two should react to director Richard Donner’s Lethal Weapon series, and Superman: The Movie.
