Fuel tap is exactly the same as all vacuum taps.
If you search you tube for vacuum fuel tap or pet cock rebuild there are lots of videos step by step on how to do it.

i look back fondly on this mammoth repair !
the next bike had injection which of course went wrong and i had to strip it all ...happy days 👍🏻😉

Had same problem with the fuel leak. Diaphram in petcock goes bad and leaks. Only opens by vacuum normally to allow fuel flow so i put a new one in and sorted it. Airbox fills up too. Cheap easy fix for a change.

i know its old video but anyway i have the same problem leaking through that pipe and air filter drenched and have just a basic question, so if fuel tap is ok, how come stuck float is a problem when standing in garage. it shouldnt leak at night, as nothing is working on fuel tap isnt it?

Hi ya mate great video on xjr1300 I'm having trouble with mine had overflow from the carb and has filled the sump with fuel mines a 2004 sent off for repair kit for the fuel tap, need to change oil and filter, if had the carbs serviced from my local mechanic so hope it is the tap yours matt

      Did you sort it?
Emulsion tubes are known for going oval and letting in fuel on idle/off.
Float valves and seats are known to be a problem. Full rebuild should fix it.

That all looks good fun. I didn’t realise fuel taps contained 20 pence pieces. I reckon that’s your problem right there 😂. Good luck with the carbs 😏👍🎄

Hi bud, love your videos, I've got an 05 xjr1300 and like you not all the time but twice now I've had fuel pissing out of the breathers, on your fuel xap you got the main black rubber gasket and then you go like an orange grommet rubber bung, ive just noticed a hole in mine but not sure weather there's supposed to be one there, when you inspected yours did you noticed a hole.
I've rebuilt the tap with all new tourmax rubbers and gaskets along with new ones for the petcock and hopefully that will cure it, how did you cure yours ?
    Kind regards Martin

I'm off to buy a xjr1300 in a couple of days. I've just watched about 4 or 5 of your videos back to back. They have given me a bit more confidence to buy and what to look out for. Great videos. Who ever buys your bike if you sell it will get a good one.
Any tips for what to look out for when buying. Chees Nick

Well if I had my time again I would have kept the xjr . I went through a bunch of bikes after this one and ended up with a 1200 bandit . So I should have just kept the xjr..
The only issue was the carb overflowing sticking needle and seats. But that's the same with any multi carb bikes after a few years. later ones had fuel injection so not an issue.. but I would definately recommend one . Peace and love brother 👍🏻☮❤

Just seen your Video & I have the same problem.
Like yours my fuel tap seems to be ok...It has been parked up for a while but do Start & Run it.
I'm not sure if i run it last time with the tap on prime & then put the bike away & left it on Prime ??? & the fuel has continued to flow through as i have quite a bit of Petrol in the Oil.
I'm going to Chance my arm & do an Oil & Filters change & see how it goes.
Because i have so much petrol in the Oil,
Would you advise me to re- fill the oil & do an Engine flush before i put in new filters ?
or would it be ok just to drop the Oil do the filters & run it.
Hope you dont mind me asking. Hope you can help Thanks Nick👍

I would drain oil and change filter before you run it. the fuel in the oil will destroy the bike .. don't even warm it up..the fuel will get in the filter and contaminate the new oil if you start the engine.
I would drop oil and filter.. renew oil and filter.. run it a while to see if the carbs are flooding .. if not great .. if they are fix carbs and change oil again 👍🏻☮❤

just a thought . even if you left it on prime .. the floats should shut off the fuel at the carbs and any extra fuel would come out the carb overflows not go down the intake ..
now I'm second guessing myself ..check the air box is the air filter wet with fuel ? ..
      the fuel tap check.
take off the main feed to the carbs from the tap put in on "run or on" position ..no fuel should leak out unless the bike is running creating a vacuum..need to go step by step not do everything at once like I did . It solved the issue but I had to guess the needle and seats were the issue..let me know how it goes buddy 👍🏻☮❤

      @Nick-vk2fw 4 роки тому

Hello thanks for getting back to me & the advice.
yes the air box & filter was soaked in Petrol & done the same test on the fuel tap with sucking the pipe.
will try taking off the main feed to the carbs & see how that goes.
i'm waiting on parts from Wemoto as i've got a new seal kit for the Clutch Slave Cylinder & other parts.
Just another thing the Spark plugs were all black so don't know if that tells a story ?
Thanks again for all your help & will let you know how i get on 👍

    • @springy-2112
      @springy-2112  4 роки тому

@@Nick-vk2fw , hey buddy the black plugs mean it's rich too much fuel.. can be caused by running in choke and not going on a run ..
but also fuel leak either the tap or more than likely a sticky needle and seat in a float bowl..
of course if the air filter is wet with fuel as you say for whatever reason the bike will run rich and soot up the plugs. .
I reckon you'll have the carbs out soon, but I did a couple of videos on carb overhaul and modifying the inlet rubbers..on this bike ..👍🏻☮❤

Yeah I think it seems to be going that way with the Carbs🙈😢
Will try a couple of things you advised tomora & also my parts are due then.

You are great at explaining everything & very meticulous.
