Great video! I appreciate the clear details, the visual component of all the materials needed, and the awesome demo at the beginning. You explained everything so well. I look forward to making one with my son!! Thank you!
For someone just starting out in contact flow lightsabers and doesn't care about stuff like clash effects and quality audio in a lightsaber, but wants the rgb blade, what are your thoughts on the $40-$50 lightsabres you can get from eBay and Amazon? You can even get two with a connector to turn them into a staff at that price. I think it should be possible to make an attachment for the coupler to turn one into a contact flow saber too.
Thanks for the tips. I was noticing the "real" lightsaber you're showing on the video has a very short blade. I feel like if it's not right. If I'd like to buy one, do you advise some other brand that has a longer blade? Thank you! You're great! Oh... PS. how this "saber" technique is called in the real martial arts' world? Japanese sword art? Korean? Thai Chi? tnx
You can get any kind of length of blade that best suits your needs. Most good saber companies will let you choose a custom blade length. I prefer shorter ones cause they are faster/lighter for throws, duel wielding, and saber staff. I made a Tiktok about it: www.tiktok.com/@the.flowarrior/video/6935522295809199366 The styles of movement I practice are sometimes called Flow Arts, but itis really a fusion of martial arts, dance, and juggling/circus arts :)
I just added a bunch of that rubber self-adhesive sealing tape from the dollar store. Old bike inner tubes work great too for adding weight, and you can usually get them for free from bike repair shops :)

What did you do to fashion the pommel on the practice saber (the ball on the bottom of the hilt end)?
Was just wondering this myself
To make the Center of weight correct
It looks about the same size as a tennis ball(?).
