  • First Up.. Find out who the 2 lucky winners of my “Yay I have 1000 Followers on Instagram” pattern giveaway are. Then, This episode of Fit Tip Tuesday is an inspiration from Sunday's Zoom Fitting for the Shorts Sew Along. After working hard on fitting a pants or shorts muslin, one of the most common adjustments that needs to be transferred to the paper pattern is a scooped crotch. This can be a little tricky because it involves drawing an accurate curved line to reshape the crotch curve. Here I'll show you how to transfer the adjustment without having to draw it!

Oh I am so glad that I found your tutorials on pants concentrating on the crotch area. I can’t tell you how long I have been trying to draft a pair of pants that actually fits. I am so excited now because I can finally sew pants! I love your tutorials! I subscribed to your channel right away

Once I transfer the scooped line to the pattern, do I add back the seam allowance? Because the blue line is where the scooped seam was sewn, correct? So do I need to add back the seam allowance before cutting the fabric? Thanks so much for this video!!

That's a great question. You are transferring the difference between the original seam and the "scooped" seam. Once you trim off that amount, the seam allowance is still there... Hope this helps! Thanks for watching

Hi Jen, quick question for you. What would be a good fabric to used for your trial short or pant pattern. I've done a muslim and too flimsy, it doesn't fit well on the body. Thank you!

Hi Helene, You can use any bottom weight woven fabric that you have in your stash... I like to use prints or colors that I loved when I bought them... then wondered what I was thinking when I pulled them out again later :)

what if I need to scoop out the crotch curve to make more room at the hip? how would I cut and move a section of the crotch curve as in this video and how would I replace the horizontal fabric I removed?

That's a great question... I add a "safety seam allowance" to the side seams so I can let them out after scooping if things get tight! Sorry for the delayed response!

Is that a half-scale pattern? You need a half-scale ruler then.
