I love my Torrid jacket. It's so warm and light! I haven't seen the rain jacket before, I'll have to check them out. I'm also on the hunt for a new rain jacket but I'm leaning towards a poncho for the breathability and I can put it on over my pack.
I'm so excited to have the Torrid! People seem to rave about it. The Lightheart Gear rain jacket is awesome! It's ~6oz and still has nice features like pit zips. I got a size larger than I normally get so the sleeves are long enough. I've thought about ponchos too but I use my rain jacket as a shell layer when it's windy or cold so I don't think it would be a good fit for me
Ironically, I rarely take my Palante’s V2 on the PCT as I find it too big. I fit my 20F quilt in a 22L pack because I have 950 fill and I stuff it down into an 8L sea-to-summit compression sack. That is the trick. If you have a Senchi hoody and a wind jacket and rain jacket, the puffy is just overkill for spring/summer. That will free up space. Repackaging food will make it fit. Of course, in the Sierras, there is more gear, so a bit larger pack is more convenient. In the desert though, you can start out light.
It might look like a garbage bag, but I don't care at all because the torid is such an awesome peace of gear! Same with the Atom Packs. That pack is the best one I have ever owned.
My old rain jacket actually looked like I was wearing a trash bag, so this is a slight improvement lol. I'm impressed with the Atom+, it's a great price for what you get.
Didn't know the trail only went to Yosemite.. lol just givin you sh!t. You'll be fine with 3L through the desert if you're smart about not traveling during the heat of the day, diligent enough in your training, and practice good water discipline like the Naib of all Seitch's should uphold. My new favorite backpacking channel. Keep up the awesome work!
Thanks so much!

@@StephenOutside I agree. I would prefer a rain jacket when it's going to be colder weather but prefer a poncho in hotter conditions.

Hahaha that's hilarious. I wish I had splurged for the 950 down, that sounds like a solid setup
Informative and beneficial video
What is that merino? Replayed and replayed, but couldn't make out what you were saying?
Oh my bad, yeah it's 96% Merino and 4% spandex blend. It's The Mirage from Evolved Supply Co.

Washington is the hardest part of the PCT
I literally live next to the Wa part. But grew up near the So Ca part. Yes Wa is tougher
i reckon that Patagonia sun hoody has a few 1000 miles left in it 🤔
I hope so hahah

Lmao, yeah I guess I assumed people already knew what the PCT was if they clicked. 3L of water is super manageable, that's great to hear!
@@StephenOutside manageable... IF you are disciplined.
Patent Cooperation Treaty=PCT for a whole other subculture out there.
Torrid just looks like people wearing a garbage bag.
I usually look like trash on the trail, so it fits nicely
@@StephenOutside lol true words. We arent winning any beauty contests.
