  • Resolve takes a look at the LETSHUOER Cadenza 12, which is a high end flagship in-ear headphone. In this video he compares it to other high end IEMs like the 64 Audio tia Trio and U12t, and discusses the merits of neutral vs more flavor oriented tunings in the high end audio space.

You mentioned about seeking the perfect sound, not just competent. At which point do you think it starts being more about what you want in sound than just technical performance improvements? Any IEMs that could show that better?

I'm curious: when you seat an IEM on the 5128, do you do multiple measurements with different seatings and keep just one good seal or do you try to find multiple good sealing positions and average multiple measurements?

Check Spirit Torino Twin Pulse, similar neutral tuning with superb technicalities but slightly more natural sound with more euphoric qualities due to the dynamic beryllium driver use. Sounds like a better tuned Verite Open in IEM shape. „Only“ 1k.

@@carminedesanto6746 You invest into what you value. I would have no hesitation dropping $2k for a iem if it made me appreciate the enormous array of genres I listen to even more for exactly the technicalities they have in their different musicianship and audio engineering. Depends on the concert. If you go to a big concert in a stadium, the bass will be bigger and deeper. If you go to a concert in the park, there will be less bass, it's normal. Normally the music heard in life is warmer and bassier, so the Cadenza's bass shelf is too low.

I can’t help but wonder what you’re really paying for with these uber-expensive IEMs. Materials aside, I wonder if there’s such a thing as an “expensive” tuning. There are so many really good IEMs that are a third to half the price of these Cadenzas that use really good drivers and equally good tunings but when you start getting up in the $2k range, I’m not really sure if you’re getting anything that’s noticeably better. I also wonder if it might be a placebo effect going on here as well. I’m sure if I put a $2k pair of IEMs in my ears, it’ll be the best sound ever! 😊 And I may come up with a whole new audiophile vocabulary to describe what I’m hearing because of the cost.
Still, I hope to have a chance to hear IEMs in this price range just to satisfy my curiousity.

From my experience with Empire Ears Zeus XIV, I only spend upwards of $2k to get something with really unique tuning that literally changes how my music usually sounds in other IEMs while still retaining top tier technical performance.
I personally don't see the reason to spend more than $1k on something neutral since there are a lot of sub $500 with such tuning and also have competent technicalities.

I have owned many in the thousands and they cannot beat the coherence and details and Bass oh and let's not forget the comfort of the OH7 ......nothing ....the sound is astonishing and I can't figure out how they did it with a single DD .......Perhaps this could be the reason behind why OH7 makes the instruments sound absolutely beautiful - sensuously and elegantly draws the music where its sound may come by to you in an easy, placid manner that soon grasps you stronger and stronger as you gradually discover the adroit charms. If deep bass, grand headroom, and emo highs are the types of your taste, this little piece of in-ear instruments will be your must-have.
