When my sister died a neighbor brought two for my mother. Over the years their beautiful spring flowers and smell have brought wonderful memories back to us!
Thanks Brie...this was a very helpful video...have not come across a video that details vibernums so well! I bought the snowball and can't wait to see it in its glory and now I am loving that popcorn...I need to have it 😁😁😁
Love viburnums. My favorite is viburnum plicatum tomentosum 'Summer Snowflake'. It has amazing horizontal branching and after the main bloom in spring, it blooms sporadically throughout the whole summer. It is never without any flowers. It also has nice fall color. Thanks for this video. I learned a lot.
You helped me pick out my Popcorn viburnum last year and this spring will be the first time for me to see it bloom! Haha so thank you and I cannot wait to see the show hopefully by the end of the month. ❤️
I'm in my 60s, we had viburnums in our yard when I was growing up. My mother always called them snowball bushes. Decades later when I was trying to figure out what the plant was, everyone kept telling me they were hydrangeas and I would always so no, those weren't hydrangeas. While I'm no plant expert, I knew enough to know they weren't hydrangeas as I knew we never had any hydrangeas when I was a child.
OMG...I’m so excited with the Chinese Viburnum to flower this year, this was my Mother’s Day present from last year! ❤️😊 Thanks again for showing the many different kinds of viburnums. Now it’s time to hunt for more of them beauties, adding to my collection!😀😊
You have some real nice Viburnum. I have to tell you those latin names make my head spin. I took an entry level botany class in college which I love except for one thing. I couldn't keep all those names straight. Keep gardening!
I live in Raleigh NC. I looked out my back window and noticed a large, tall growing plant (that I thought was a Camellia when I planted it). I see all these dark green leaves and clusters of small creamy ivory buds/flowers. I think it must be a viburnum! Since it is May and is blooming, I know it is NOT a hydrangea!
Nooooo. I need more.....tormetosum, leather leaf, chindo, maple leaf, arrowroot, davidii. I have several viburnums and can only identify one or two because the plant tags are gone.
I bought a viburnum called Opening Day at our local nursery . Smells amazing. I’m in zone 5. The pot didn’t come with an information sheet. So I had to get all my info from internet and UA-cam. Thank you for your video.
Omg I want that variety!!! That is part of the First Editions plant line! I haven’t grown it but it is a V. Plicatum so it will keep getting better and better every year!
Hello Brie, I have a question about my viburnum that I cant seem to find an answer for. 5 yr ago I bought several 5 gallon containers labeled Chinese snow ball viburnum. They are quite large. however some of them have 2 different shapes of flowers some are disk like, (similar to lacecap hydrangea), and some of the flowers are balls. Both shapes are presented on the same plant. what is this?
European and eastern names are synonymous and will have larger maple leaf shaped leaves and smaller 3"-4" flower ball clusters and is cold hardy to zone 4, while the Chinese snowball flower cluster will be much larger and the leaves will be smaller long ovals (ovate to lanceolate).

Will you make a video showing berries on viburnums?
I haft a regular snow ball and funny the tag said 4 ft itz now I think 10_12ft tall and 5_6ft in diameter. I've never pruned it ,
Is it too late to plant a viburnam in 7b?
Bri, is there somewhere east coast that specializes in viburnums for sale? (Kinda like a pine knot farm but for viburnums?)

Hello, how long does the snowball bloom for in the spring and later on in the season for you?
It generally flowers for 6 weeks in the spring and sporadically in the fall .

That is the flower having sterile and fertile blooms, which often happens with viburnum. 👍
How can you tell a Chinese, European, and Eastern snowball apart? The one I bought didn’t say, but it had red leaves in the fall.
Can you tell me if the popcorn viburnum smells good?
No it has no fragrance.
@@BrieThePlantLady thanks. I know some Viburnum’s have an offensive odor…I’m never which ones do.
How do I buy all these unusual viburnums?
It takes time to build a collection. Visit specialty nurseries and plant sales at botanical gardens is the best way to start.
❤️
Do you have Prague ?
Not in this garden. I had in my previous garden.
I want a Chinese Viburnum so bad but I’m zone 5b :(
You misspelled macrocephellum at the beginning....
Ugh of course. I finger typing on a phone 🤦♀️
