    The scale might have some magnetic pieces inside of it behind the plate, which could cause the cube to get attracted towards the scale, skewing the results. But honestly that cube is quite absurd and I love it.

    To make a cube with even stronger magnets, you could use one of the upscaled cubes (I used a qiyi 9cm, but I also recommend the new meilong 9cm), and there's a lot more space for even more magnets.

    I did try to magnetize my SpeedCube with the Magnets that I can buy at the store (Diameter 6mm, Thickness 2.5mm)
    And When I tried to turn it after magnetizing, I felt they were stronger than I thoght.
    Before watching this video, I thought I had put the strongest magnets that I can think of, But after watching this video, I realized that he used a much, much stronger one.
    And now I know that he made the strongest magnets in a Rubik's Cube. Keep up the good work, Z3Cubing!

  • @anon_y_mousse

    Can you get tungsten powder? Because that might be the best way to fill it and make it both the heaviest cube and the hardest to turn that still works. Also, you should weight it on the scale sitting on top of a brick or something else thick enough to keep the magnetism away from the scale because it could be affecting the copper circuitry of the electronics in the scale and causing it to misread the actual weight. Possibly a sturdy cardboard box could work, but either way, remember to use tare before setting the cube on top.

    so i guess magnetic cubes are the standard now? that's so strange, i must be getting old lol. i've got a handful of cubes of different shapes and sizes, used to speed cube in high school, and i don't think i've ever even _handled_ a magnetic cube. i'm so curious about how it feels. are bigger cubes generally magnetic too?

    • @Z3Cubing
      @Z3Cubing  3 місяці тому +1

      Yup! It's been by far the biggest change in speedcubing hardware while I've been cubing. They started around 2017 with some super premium handmade mods, then gradually worked their way into mass-produced puzzles. Today they're so ubiquitous that they're found in all but the cheapest budget 3x3s, and are pretty standard in big cubes and even some non-WCA puzzles!

    • @Z3Cubing
      @Z3Cubing  9 місяців тому +1

      Just like a normal magnetic speedcube, you do have to be careful to have all the edge magnets in one orientation and the corner magnets in the opposite orientation, so they always attract. It gets weird in this case because the magnets are so large that they start interacting in weird ways (side of edge magnets attracting to other edges, etc).
