That's really true. I thought only salicylic acid could help. Now that it is winter, I tried a Cetaphil moisturiser before sleeping and it worked wonders in clearing up sebaceous filaments.
@@bluenic0le That's very true. I wake up with an amazingly smooth skin with that combination. My skin barrier got damaged at the start of winter, so for now I'm avoiding exfoliation. So, moisturiser is very handy, especially helps control oil around the nose area.
are you me? Lol. Because I dealt with the same thing at the start of winter too... sometimes I get carried away and try to push the limits when I get new products because my skin barrier can take a beating buuuut I'm getting older now and learned my lesson 😅 I just started using a heavier cream at night and it's worked wonders. Hydration really is so important to keep the skin regulated! I alternate between using a water-free/oil based salicylic serum under the cream or a salicylic&sulfur spot treatment on top.
Wish I knew that in my teen years. I couldn’t stand the feel of moisturizer sitting in my face like an oil slick or grease field because I was oily. Little did I know. I’m 52 years old & my skin looks better than ever now! Thanks doc! Love your advice!
Not just that I wish the products were available back then. I remember OJs beauty lotion. lol I went to a dermatologist regularly. The products just weren’t there. I was given a buff puff by my dermatologist. 🤷🏼♀️
Yes that is so true. I use the minimalist vitamin b5 oil free moisturizer in the daytime as my nose is an oil factory, and the aveeno facial moisturizer at night. The aveeno moisturizer has made such a huge difference in my skin. I had overexfoliated my skin a few months ago. I stopped using any actives, just simple face wash, and a sunscreen. I've started using adapalene again now that my skin has healed, but i keep it very simple and focus on my skin barrier a lot more than i used to. Thanks Dr dray
I have oily skin. Tried a moisturiser with Urea in it, clogged up my pores like crazy. I suspect the Cicaplast would make me break out too. I use a cheap basic moisturiser without fragrance, because Dr. Dray influenced me years ago. Works for me.
chances are it's not the urea. Cicaplast can make you break out if you have acne prone skin or fungal acne bc it has shea butter and the formulation is very thick, even if says "non comedogenic"
I have this lying around and haven’t known how to use it. It’s so damn thick. I have been using it for dry parts of my brows and around my nose! Stunts here I come!!
Aswell as dry acne prone skin!! You don’t just get acne from oily skin I have extremely dry skin I was diagnosed with sjogren’s which is a dry skin, eyes and mouth and I have acne I remember when I went in they did a scan to see how much moisture I had on my face and there was the smallest dot on the screen it was brutal how dry my skin is but I just bought this and started using it I broke out a little bit but I got to keep using it for a while to see if it helps the other one that I really like is aveeno’s oat balm! It makes my skin feel amazing I can’t stop touching it when I apply in!
Any moisturizer, to my knowledge. I watch Penn Smith too and same advice: moisturizer for oily skin is good! I use a gel-cream one. I’m oily and want no thick cream on my face!

I really want to use a moisturizer but after trying so many I'm convinced they encourage whiteheads & sebaceous hyperplasia for me....because both increase when I moisturize. I wsh i could find something that didn't 🤔
This was me for years until I tried curel fragrance free lotion. It's a giant bottle and only $11 at target. I think it's a body moisturizer. It has no fragrance or oil and very minimal ingredients. All other moisturizers I've tried break me out!
I used to get cystic hormonal acne and aloe Vera cleansers worked great for me, and I’d use either aloe Vera or vitamin e oil on my skin as moisturizers and they cleared everything up. I wouldn’t recommend drug store aloe Vera, that has a bunch of junk in it, but all natural with minimal ingredients. Those were the only moisturizers I could use for years.

Well, yes, but only if you properly hydrate and/or moisturize your skin prior to using it. Petrolatum is an occlusive which means it makes a barrier for whatever you have going on underneath. After you cleanse your face, try a hydrating toner/light moisturizer then the PJ 💫
