Most common questions I get and here are some answers:
▶︎What's the difference between cold pressed and hot pressed?
Cold pressed is on the rougher side and hot pressed is the smoothest. For example with hot pressed the paint won't sink in as much and will dry faster, vs cold pressed is the most traditional watercolor paper for artists, the paint will sit for a while until it settles and you can do dry brushing. It also dries longer because of all that. They are both fun, I just have been painting mostly on hot pressed because of my style. Hot pressed is good when you can paint faster and when you use a lot of paint. To determine which paper is best for you I think it's a good idea to try out all three kinds, hot pressed, cold pressed and the third kind - rough watercolor paper, this one is super bumpy!
▶︎How long does it take me to finish a painting?
Anytime between 40min - 3hrs. It all depends on what I am painting.
▶︎Do I use watercolor in pan or out of tube?
I mostly use watercolors out of tubes.
I think it helps me in painting with layers. I feel like it's so much easier to create that vibrancy when I can use more paint.
▶︎What are the basic colors, brushes papers I recommend for a beginner?

▶︎What is art masking fluid?
It's a fluid (also known as liquid frisket ) that preserves white areas, white areas of the paper where you want to stay white. It's made of some sort of latex. Once you place it on your watercolor paper, on the area you want to stay white, wait until it completely dries before starting to paint. At the end, once your paper is dry, you can peel it off easily with your fingers or using an eraser.

I just wanted to add a second comment to say how helpful speedpainting videos are to my learning process. I for one look at somebody’s beautiful art and have a hard time dissecting it into the stages that it went through to become the finished product. So then it translates into a difficulty learning on my own because I don’t know where to begin or what comes next, things feel hopeless, I end up just getting nervous and giving up or just not getting nearly any result like what inspired me in the first place. So thank you for videos like these because it will help me understand the progression of a watercolor project so I can improve :)

Wow. This video was not only extremely helpful by listing the brushes and colors used, but it was also beautiful and relaxing to watch and listen to. Thank you Sandy :) The best way to paint the fur is with a long round brush called RIGGER Brush, mine is size 1. It helps to create long thin strokes. I hope this helps

You have some beautiful pictures but I'm put off by the fact that you charge for your sketches. Other artists I follow don't charge.
Hi Sherry, I am really sorry... teaching watercolors is my profession and that's how I support my family. I do this full time. I actually thought that all artists charge for sketches because any other teacher I have heard of that uses Patreon too (mine is www.patreon.com/mariamorjane ) also charges for the sketches...
Perhaps those artists don't teach full time like I do? I am curious to know how they make their living from teaching, if they do.
