TREASURES from the NSRA Street Rod Nationals (PLUS Cacklefest and Burnout Party)

  • I love finding VINTAGE treasure at a MODERN car show, cruise in or swap meet. This year at the NSRA Street Rod Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky, I found a lot of great stuff. I went home empty handed, but got to see so many cool pieces of vintage speed equipment. I love the survivor hot rod truck with magnesium wheels, cracked paint and diamond tuck interior. And for the first time EVER, the NSRA conducted a CACKLEFEST with six outstanding vintage drag cars. Three blown and injected front engine dragsters, one competition coupe (with a blown Lincoln on FUEL), and two vintage funny cars. Finally, we're ending with the all out burnout party, held on the streets of Louisville.

Sooner or later somebody will get hurt at the "Burnout Party". It's happened before, other places and that was the end of that particular event. I've been there.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Cars were only a couple feet apart from each other and only a few feet from all of the idiots standing on the side of the road. Just waiting to be hit.

Thanks for the outstand video my friend . Nothing like the smell and sound of a nitro burning dragster or funny car from the days of REAL drag racing. I run alcohol in my blown historic Model A drage coupe. Who knows? aA load of nitro my happen. LOL.

The C3 Corvette with a Flatty Ford running triple carbs makes up for the thousands of 30’s Ford’s running Small Block Chevy’s! I love Flat Head Ford engines and seeing one in a C3 Corvette is fantastic!

Great video. Definitely not a fan of public burnouts. Guilty of doing same, but experience has always prevented incident. The parade of burnouts is not exactly a pre-screen processing of those able to handle their vehicle's shenanigans. No barricades .. even more cringe worthy.
Of note .. a DFW based racing team, invited to an event in the upper Midwest, Australian driver, public highway .. with grade from center to shoulder. Killed and maimed many. Driver charged. Racing team sued. Municipality sued. Racing team disbanded. Ownership group disbanded. Holy sh*t do I sound like Debbie Downer.
.. but in life, lessons are taught to those unwilling and ignorant of fault. Just sucks the event wasn't better prepared for the unexpected. Similar to this event above.
One can internet search the incident I discussed. It is what it is.
As always, THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS HERE. Some of my favorite viewing. God bless.

The one thing wrong about this video is the people over doing the burnout and doing a big sitter, when you make too much smoke the person in front can’t see and then it makes it dangerous to do a burnout because he can’t see what’s around him and then everyone else has to wait.

Thought I was the only one that did not like doing burnouts!! They get too expensive when you have to replace tires, rebuild transmissions, replace broken driveshafts and U joints and the list goes on and on!! If you’ve seen one burnout, then you’ve seen them all!!! They are all the same, they are loud and smokie and usually include lots of silly hootin and hollerin from intoxicated idiots, lol
I’m surprised and relieved that there’s at least one more like myself out here that doesn’t enjoy them. I always had too much money invested in my cars to risk tearing them up or ruining a set of perfectly good tires!!
