I have 2 1994 XV535 Viragos both running the Harley Sportster CV carb, both with custom intake manifolds from Ebay user SeaRayGuy. His products are amazing, his rates are reasonable, and the shipping was phenomenal.
Thanks for posting your results Shane. Bike sounds great and the single carb adds a typical V-Twin single air cleaner look. The reason the idle is different is because you get a bit of reversion back to the intake from the exhaust. The double carb setup limits that. With a single carb, you get more of that "Harley" sound. Also, your not moving as much air at higher RPM, result is lower redline. Most folks don't ride in that RPM range anyway.
im running a harley 883 carb on a 750 virago trike. the idle is just lovely. the low end torque is incredible and its not hard to see why. the intake manifold is always charged with a mixture because one or another cylinder just drew mixture. harley carbs have a mechanical fuel pump and are quite responsive. they are also cheap. i bought mine from wincycle out of florida thru ebay for 160.00..
Mine was drilled just 1/16 drank gas i had go down to a kehine 110 main jet i took out of a 150cc china scooter runs great been runing like that last 6 years plugs perfict color
When I got my virago I got a bunch off wrong info took it on my own and jeted it leaner than a double carb got a hole lot more vacum it worked awesome on my bike since fixed 2 more Viragos same problem plug fouling and gas milage better off leave stock jet in the carb you use
Looks great! I am wondering did you bypass the lower reserve fuel tank/fuel pump that is used on the XV1000 & XV1100? @ 00:14 I think I am seeing the fuel line from the main tank carb with an inline filter. Just curious, because I am considering this setup and wanted to draw fuel from the main tank only.
Shane, your set up sounds great. I have to ask an important question though, as someone else here already asked in an earlier post ; Do you get any problems with the cylinders running rich/lean with the searayguy manifold? I have to ask, as I currently have a different design manifold (Smithtech) with Mikuni carb which is set up to run as best as it can, but it still runs lean on the front cylinder, rich on the rear, so it occasionally spits, and I think this is due to a design flaw with the manifold itself naturally channeling most of the mixture to the rear cylinder. Do you get this problem with the searayguy manifold? Love to know your thoughts on this please.
I have completed the conversion and agree it was pretty simple! However on the front motor there is a tube that did lead into the old air filter system. Obviously the old air filter system was changed to that cool looking filter so Where did you hook up the tube that is on the front of your bike now?
did you keep the fuel pump? i still have mine hooked up but i still have a couple days till my manifold comes in. Oh and doesnt that airfilter suck water into the carb as i ride and cause problems?
What did u do to the 2 metal lines (i think they are vents for the cylinders) that are on the video at 1min 10 seconds? did you add some kind of vent to them? What did you do with all the emissions stuff that was on the left side of the bike? Just unplug it and go?
Calvin Leblanc hey those are Yamahas answer to emissions control you should cap them at the heads you can use a rubber plug or a copper half inch cap and solder it on do not hook them together they suck air into the exhuast as it leaves the head to dilute your emissions
IV go a kjs intake on mine no way it would run with a 1/8 drill bit through the main jet I got it it was drilled to 1/16 got 8 mile to the gallon IV got a 105 kehin 150 cc scooter jet in it gets 35 to 40 miles a gallon now plugs perfic color been riding it like that for 4 years now also vacum on boost sensor been caped it was fouling the plugs to much vacom on it

JuggaloCujo do you remember the jet sizes? I’m trying to fit a cv carb on my 535. Thanks

Yeah, Did the same with my xv700!! Used a Harley carb & Accel single fire coil, Searayguy intake!! Love it!!

I got a 1988 virago 535 and would like to do a single carb conversation and am clues on what carb to buy

Ann6dr2om7ed4a me too
My virago rear cyl running good more then front cyl..
When first cold start Rear cyl first hot.
I have a 750 singe carb...where did you buy the air filter?

My xv1100 is same single in take and original virago front carb(no tune)
But engine balance not well
Spark , valve gap is good .
What s problem?

How is it running . Did you ever have any problems with it running to rich or lean after the single carb with searayguy
where did you get the throttle cables from?

What do you need to do to hook the single carb back up to the bike? Is it difficult to get it dialed in? Thanks!
U just used a 1/8 bit cause I'm doing the same and need to no if there is more I need to do
how did you delete the left pod?
1/8 on the main jet and that's it really need to know
Welds look like birdpoop.
