Your dad's enthusiasm for fixing his sons rover 75 is hilarious I keep expecting him to push it out into the road for the scrap man lol but I think he is secretly absolutely enjoying it ... keep the videos coming great content 👌
Great vid, thanks! I dont watch that many How of these type of vids any more (been twirling a spanner for over 20yrs now) but your dad is an absolute gem! Im currently scrabbling rpund the garage to find bits to make one of his whistles, never know when it might come in handy!
I’ve just bought a 2003 Connie SE (here in Australia) and am utterly amazed to see how accessible the heater core is….considering all the horror stories I’ve always been told about removing the whole dashboard in order to get to them. Your dad has such a dry sense of humour, he is the star of the series. But you need to put the camera down and give him a hand more often LOL. Anyway, I’ve been enjoying the series so far. Looking forward to more episodes.
Good to see father and son working together,me ive got the Rover 75 V6 Saloon model and yes ive had problems but there not many cars that don't. The heating in my Rover heats up quickly, the front fan I had at first was changed for the two speed fan because of the problems of cooling was'not jumping in properly. What we have to remember is the age of the car mainly, then on the other hand we can say is the Luxus of the Rover 75 Special throughts of this car as been one of the last in Produktion "made in the UK" with Influence of british Handwork
This reminds me of my Ford Sierra Sapphire (G580 FVH). When I first got it there was no heat coming out of the heaters. I took it to my mate. We disconnected the heater hoses, shoved a hosepipe in one of them and flushed the matrix in situ until it ran clear. The process was repeated with the other hose. The water that came out was a rusty colour. Once it was done, the heaters were nice and hot. You were lucky that the heater matrix was easy to remove. With most cars, the dashboard is assembled round the heater. The only other vehicle I know of with a heater matrix that's easy to change is the Volvo XC90.
Stay tuned for the next exciting episode. Will our beautiful blue damsel in distress be saved. Will Sheriff Jon,his faithful Deputy and the Inspector bring the evil Gremlin gang to justice. 😊 To be continued……..

Great video Jon & Jon's Dad! 🙌 Keep up the great work battling on to find the problem 😄 but it does seem the heater matrix flush has worked ? As alot of crud came out.
Did you add cleaning agents to the water / coolant ? I think the slow heating of the 1.8 is partly because it is a small 120hp engine in a big empty bay with a radiator that can cool a 190hp V6 !
Ive changed my cooling fan for the two speed before it had the three speed fan which was brocken, the other Problems are queit often the same as other cars as they get older.
In England radiators/ matrix are tested for blockage and then junked when they are blocked ....... in France everybody uses 28% hydrochloric acid to flush through (available from french supermarkets also used for instantly de-furring kettles) ........ a yellow foam appears in seconds and when the fizzing stops the radiator/ matrix is clear and bob is your veritable fathers brother ........ In England it is illegal to retail ............ however for the building trade "disc clean" is the same thing .......... The British cars parts trade absolutely has been sworn to keep this information secret ...........
What's the water pump like? Is it circulating water well? Just a thought. K series are known for getting hot pretty quickly due to the marginal coolant capacity.
I know this was three weeks ago, but...Put radiator flush into the cooling system, set the heater to 'HI' both sides, and drive the car. The water doesn't circulate properly at idle.
That is nowhere near enough crud out of that heater matrix. Repeat the descaler process many times until you get nothing else out. Fill the matrix with hot water and immediately check the whole surface of the matrix - you'll probably find the bottom is cold. I tried 40% caustic soda eventually and that wouldn't clear it. Yours is 10 years older than mine was so expect it to be worse.
@@JonCoupland If your 75 has Climate Control take it off Auto and turn the temperature up as high as it'll go. It shouldn't try to control the temperature then.
Thanks for watching all! Hope you are enjoying the series so far!
Love the enthusiasm of your father, and to have such a great relationship togther is something very special.
Thank you 👍

He's back in his element. Dad was a Rover Tech for many years and he's enjoying it all coming back to him 😂
That's reassuring to know how easy it was to take that matrix out . Hope my diesel 75 is more or less the same . Great video again thanks 👍.
Glad it helped - should be exactly the same!
Great progress, heater matrix extremely accessible
Thankfully

Thanks mate. He's a very knowledgeable chap. I'm only just realising this.
Good luck with your tool creation 👍

Hopefully now if you need to remove it you know how to

Accurate!

Your dad what a star car looks nice
He's the best eh

That would make sense!
We haven't yet. As we're doing a full system flush
But we will do
Citrus acid also works to flush the system, but you have to be careful.
Ah great tip
+1 for citric acid. Worked great in a car that's been parked up for over 25 years!
Dads in his glory there
The 75 is a beautiful car for sure
I think so 😃
Absolutely

Good advice!
The Matrix flush😅 getting there legends.
Slowly
Hey John...tell your dad to mind his long hair in those uncovered camshaft sprockets...ha ha...Bob...Paignton....
Will do 😂😂

Water pump is all A ok :)
@@JonCouplandThere isn't much your dad hasnt covered, unless the lack of cabin heat is down to a partial blockage in the matrix. Hmmm....
Did you open the bleed screw on the top of the metal water rail?
Whilst flushing or after?
We have opened it
After or anytime you have drained it. Can take a few goes to get it all out. Give the car a run and bleed it again@@JonCoupland

Good advice. Car is still sat in the garage so hasn't been anywhere yet. Will do
Maybe best to reverse flush the radiator too Jon....Bob....
Good idea!
Warm wind 😅
The very same
Shouldn't the heater be turned on when flushing.
That's a good point!! Maybe that's a mistake we made
Knackered water pump
Well .... We've tested and it's all good 👍
But it will be replaced
How long was your New Year’s Day 😂
Very! I think we started at 7am and finished at 6pm 😂
Replace that Head Gasket lol just better to be safe than sorry man
It's coming I promise 😂
@@JonCoupland LOL your dad wont drive that car until its been done i swear haha
You are right! @@Cayres9
@@JonCoupland lol 🤣👍 cheers 🥂
was the 8 not a £ sign making it the value of the whole car £8.99 lol

We repeated the process 4 times until nothing else came out. The entire matrix is hot 🔥
