This woman’s vocals drives me crazy! Ever since I first heard her perform in the late 70’s, I have never been able to forget this version of this song!🎤❤️🎼🎶
I’m the same as a child of the 70s and I met her at a wedding of a family friend several years ago who she’s related to. She still sounds amazing and is very very sweet. Her voice is sexy, sweet and clean.
Many probably don't know she was in Hair back then. Not sure if she was in the nude scene, but one can only imagine. The BeeGees wrote some very good music for her later.
Dee Jones I was between 68 and the 70s.. all the music from that era was the greatest. We grew up with songs about love and peace and during the most tumultuous time of civil rights and Vietnam..music was and is my life. 56 years of keyboards..
Barbara's has a quality that Yvonne's doesn't have, and Yvonne's has a quality that Barbara's doesn't have. I love them both. That should clear it up 👍
I use to listen to this in Monroe Louisiana in 1977 I loved the music then and now even more 😌because my wife is in Florida with her parent's its our anniversary ❤ not together but we will be Friday love her
Yes Pete, I dance through the tears missing the ones that are no longer with us. At last count, I must celebrate for over 100 people. It's a dirty job, but somebody's got to do it. I dance with joy
What a great version! Even ardent fans of the Barbara Lewis original have to say BRAVA Yvonne!!!! She too got to the summit. With either version you experience excellence.
IN 1977, YVONNE ELLIMAN DOES A REMAKE OF BARBARA LEWIS’ SONG: HELLO STRANGER, WHICH I FOUND TO BE QUITE LOVELY. IT HAS BEEN A MIGHTY LONG TIME SINCE I HEARD THIS ONE. KENNETH HUANG. 10/06/24.
One of my all-time favorite songs!! Original version by Barbara Lewis is what most of us grew up listening to. Different renditions but both really great.
Both versions of Hello Stranger by Barbara Lewis and Yvonne Elliman were big hits back in 1963 when Barbara Lewis took it to number three and was a hit again in 1977 when Yvonne Elliman took it to number fifteen. Great song by two great female singers.
I first heard this song performed by my friend Paula Estrada in 1962 and then in 1977 by Yvonne Elliman! To this day at 60+, this is one of my favorite all time songs!🙏🎤🎶❤️
This is an incredible beautiful talented singer with a soulful voice! This re-make sounds so much better than the original version from the early 1960's!
With such magnetic, soul-rendering, ethereal voice, one would imagine she would make it much much bigger in the US pop chart....give her the credit for her true talent and skill, it surely is a MIGHTY LONG TIME~~ Yvonne, soldier on and SING LOUD and PROUD.
I think Barbara Lewis and Yvonne are just about equal singers. But the background vocals in Yvonne's version are just SO much better; in the original the backup singers are so far off key that it is hard to listen to.
What a beautiful voice, this is the best version ever! Yvonne puts more feeling into it the other versions can't compete. I love this when it came out. Beautiful!
But this isn't 70s music. Barbara Lewis wrote and sang the original in 1961. Yvonne Elliman's 1977 version just has a disco beat added to it. The original is better.
I’m here all the time . I come here often to listen to her voice . And I be loved this song from the first time I heard it . Way , way back in the 70 s . Great romantic partner song . ! Love it to the max !
Yvonne Elliman never got the accolades she so deserves..was backup singer for Rock and Pop Legends including Eric Clapton and The Bee Gees..She is absolutely stunning too..
One of the best voices ever! One of the very few contemporary singers who didnt have to shout to achieve rich clear resonant vocalization. And then, you could look at her a mighty long time!
@@ronvogt00 I heard that. 2010s had mostly bad music but that cover is surprisingly great. That sounds like an influence by Ebony Alleyne (check her cover). Barbara Lewis would be so proud.

I was going to college in Joplin, MO, and this was a hit over there. I know all three of the radio stations at the time gave it plenty of play time, which was fine by me. One of the few songs that I never got tired of, and it's still my favorite 39 years later.
This is such a cool song my Brothers loved to play back in the day.I was still a kid but my Brothers would talk about their girlfreinds.I found myself day dreaming about this song when i got hit with "puppy love" with a girl in my class in the 5th grade.Wow!Brings back wonderful times...

I was working in an automobile paint detail shop, next to a car wash, and Car Wash came on the loud speaker! I can imagine the people waiting for their cars had a little bounce in their step when that sound cut through the noise of sprayer nozzles.
Now that I remember, not even the stupid Beatle curse affected the seventies hits! I never thought of that before. My favourite version of this has always been the original by Barbara Lewis. But I would say that it is closely followed by this Yvonne Elliman version. But then again I would say that. I had the honour of dancing with this incredibly beautiful lady in around the late 1970s (maybe 77/78) at the lyceum ballroom just off the strand in London. Possibly she could have been over here promoting this song? Anyway I just remember what incredibly exotic & captivating eyes she had. & probably still has i imagine. I hope she remains safe & well to this day, and that she's in good health 😀💙
While growing up in Honolulu, the radio D.J.s always supported Yvonne by playing her music all the time. I grew listening to Yvonne Elliman and it's really nice to watch the videos on You Tube and to listen to her songs again.

Hello Stranger is and always will be one of the greatest love songs of all time, and if doesn't bring a tear to your eye, there's something seriously wrong!
