- The silence always spoke for them; they never had the opportunity to express what they were feeling with words. The destiny joined them and the tragedy separated them; but in the silence and in the heart the love was always present. That is what I want to show in this video.
I know that is a little slow; but it was hard to make, there are not many scenes with Uncas and Alice together so, I repeat some of them.
And Please forgive my English; is not perfect and I am still learning.
I do not own anything; this is for fun.

Proves you don’t need nudity or graphic sex to make good love story. Plus this was made 1992 - lot more decency then.

How bad does that suck!? I think nathaniel/cora's romance was a little stiff...but Eric Schweig and Jodhi *rocked* as Uncas and Alice...their love story was better even though they wouldn't develop it fully! I wish they would come out with a version with those deleted scenes :(
In an interview with Eric Schweig, he states there was a love scene between them at the falls that was cut from the movie. Sure wish someone would find that clip and post it!
Uncas and Alice was the more compelling love story in the movie.
I have always loved this movie and the music . Uncus is a hero . Very handsome too.

@piratesse4 I agree. Uncas' love for Alice is so obvious in the way he looks at her, keeps a protective watch over her...there are no need for words, the emotions speak much louder.

I watched this movie for the first time yesterday & the Uncas-Alice story captured my heart. Beautiful. I like this song with their scenes! :)
I just love what you have done with this beautiful but silent love. The song is really well chosen, there is something very elegant in the way you combine music and images (especially the part where Uncas frightens the horses and the way their gazes meet and 3,35-3,36, the way you alternate their faces and gazes again...) The music is rather slow and this is great: it gives something magical to the images...especially the final cliff scene. Such a great and discrete love, such a great video!

phonelady61 is that scene in the movie? It's in the screenplay but can't remember it in movie. I know they cut some of their scenes.

@piratesse4 You have expressed yourself perfectly. Their relationship was pure in a first and only love sort of way. It even fits in with the song "No matter Where You Go I Will Find You." Uncas followed her to save her because he could not do otherwise. Alice followed Uncas in death because she also could not do otherwise. So at the end they found each other if only in death.

i also think in that way about it. in my oppinion this is one of the best and also tragic lovestories i ever seen and i also be sad and cry when i see it. but also her feelings for him are very very strong. and in heaven they can be together.

I understand your point; but for me their relationship was developed in a deeper way, with emotions, feelings, expressions but not physical; is like a silent love, they know the feeling is there but.... they do not reach if physically; I do not know If I am expressing myself clear but, The love between Uncas and Alice is very pure, very emotional and innocent; that is how I see it :)

Yes, the book is different. As for the film, Alice & Uncas: she's a young, naive girl, always pampered & protected; she sees the trip to the New Land as an adventure. In the horror & realityof what takes places she grows up fast, and does begin to learn what passion between a man & woman is. Her decison to leap over the rocks rather than go with Wes Studi's character, now that Uncas is dead, is her first independent decison as a woman, she chooses death rather than the alternative.
I love this movie and the music was exquisite the best actors ever

I love this video, and I absolutely adore this couple! I must admit, that the movie left me a bit disappointed; there was definitely something between Uncas and Alice, but none of it was shown as 'openly' as the main pairing.
It may sound kind of stupid, but even though I know the whole movie, I keep hoping every time that Uncas will save Alice, and that they also will have their happily ever after.

there are some posts at IMDb that say there was lots more of Alice that got "left on the cutting room floor." Another post says Jodhi May's mother was on set and wouldn't let her daughter to do a real love scene (since she was something like 16 or 17 at the time, that does make sense).
It would be so great to see what more this brilliant movie could have been. But you've done the characters justice here, and I hope their spirits appreciate your work on their behalf, as we do.

@piratesse4 Exactly how i felt when i first watched this movie 20yrs ago and the image was imprinted. as of why i couldn't find anyone competible to the way Uncas had towards Alice
