    I made this... and when I say I will not ever have to crave fried rice I can make it myself now .. One thing I did was add a few pinches of brown sugar at the end... it was amazing

    Hi, Wally, thanks for sharing the recipe! I used to live in NYC also and I miss the delicious fried chicken wings and fried rice from the Chinese fast food take out. I will definitely try making your recipe, it looks legit 👍👍. I have made your salt and pepper pork chop (Hop kee style) recipe and your wife’s Coconut custard recipe…both were super delicious! Thanks again.

    Happy new year Wally !! Chinese New Year on Sunday. Gung hee fat Choi! ( Hakka)
    Omg … you read my mind !! Lol
    I’m in the kitchen creating my menu for next week. And the thought of fried rice and fried chicken wings crossed my mind , so I added wings to the grocery list.
    Your recipe looks much better than my recipe so I am going to make your version . Wally , you’re the reason my children think my kitchen is a take out restaurant! It’s better than the last 3 years of takeout and it’s FREE for them ! It’s one way of bonding with the grown up children ….and I enjoy their company.
    Thanks for posting the video.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

    Thanks chef wally for sharing this delectable traditional recipe.
    Are tapioca starch and rice flour or baking powder acceptable substitutes?
    Can I replicate the same crispiness texture using an air fryer?

    • @WallyCooksEverything
      @WallyCooksEverything  6 місяців тому

      Hi and thank you for the kind words 🙏 I would stick with rice flour there are differences with tapioca flour. Though definitely do not use baking powder. As for air fryer I don’t have an answer I never used one 🙏😄

    I tried this recipe. Did not like the Chinese Five Spice in it. The spice took away from the flavor. Next time, I will delete the Chinese Five Spice from the recipe. I will also add some more salt or soy sauce.

    UGGGGH!..Where was the sesame oil and ginger for the rice?????

    • @WallyCooksEverything
      @WallyCooksEverything  9 місяців тому +3

      Lol sorry for the disappointment 😆 A common misconception is we put ginger and sesame oil in everything. That said, it really depends where you get your fried rice from.
      One Chinese restaurant across from another will make it differently or even in another region. A long while ago before Hawaiian pizza came to the US it started off in California. When my cousin came to visit from Cali a long, long time ago in NY he was like where's the pineapples and ham lol. I was like we don't do that in NYC. Obviously today you can get it in NY.
      Point is, there's no ONE definitive recipe Chinese fried rice. If you enjoy ginger and sesame oil go ahead and add it. It's not like you need anyones permission 😀👍😀

    I moved from New York to Florida and I'm glad that I can still get this style chicken wings from Chinese takeout. I like fried chicken but I rather have this type then the other types of fried chicken, where it's covered in so much batter that you don't really get to enjoy the chicken as much. The one thing I do miss from New York take out is the Golden style fried rice. I just prefer it... that's just me. ☺️
