chris Green mine too lol on his jdl speaker hella loud. Wait that not it lol he also has to rewind the speech. Lol funny he does that with transformers 1987 movie when hotrode turns in to r prime man he would play that scene 8 times you got the touch you got the power. Lol hahahahah my dad was cool and he was a navy seal
Inhabitated? The aliens don't give a rats about us as we found out when the President mind melded with them. Even for aliens with all their tech there are are reasons you'd mine the Earth vs Saturn, Mars, or Venus. The simpliest reason is that they can breathe our air.
Colonising a planet with a breatheable atmosphere is far easier than without one. Even if they wanted to with other planets in our solar system, it's logical to take out any nearby civilization so they won't interfere with your operations.
That is dumb. If they can syphon energy from a planet's core then they can syphon oxygen from a gas giant, or harvest it from the ice in Saturn's rings, the ice in the asteroid belt, the oceans on Europa. Earth is not the best source for resources in this solar system and it has an intelligent race already living there that the aliens were smart enough to figure out that they would not take kindly to their planet being invaded. Why the hell would you put your own peoples lives at risk when you can take everything you need and more before you even get to Earth and most likely without humans even noticing? Hell even if the humans did notice aliens out on Europa mining for resources, what could we do about it?
They don't colonize. They take what they need then they move on, and it is only logical to take out a nearby civilisation if they pose a credible threat to you.
Don’t get me wrong. Russell’s “hello boys…” line is epic. But my favorite part, which still gives me chills 25 years later, is when Whitmore exclaims “doesn’t anyone have any missiles left?!” And Russell comes in with “sorry I’m late, Mr. President…” Soooo good. 😆
I remember watching this in the theater, the audience went nuts clapping and hollering when the aliens were blown up. That’s the only movie I watched in a theater where that has ever happened.
I always thought that Russell killing the ship in the end as his own special probing to the aliens. It's kinda like he is going right up the alien ship rear-end.
In the non canon novel adaption of the film, the alien's biosuit was actual an entirely different species that they had subjected in the past. Using their bodies as protective shells. Also when Russel first saw the alien bodies, he concluded that they weren't the same species that had abducted him, This part however was changed in the film.
I'm surprised the father wasn't mentioned at all in the second film. He didn't have no memorial or statue. Nothing. I really wish the second film didn't happen. It's not good at all. Hollywood went too Hollywood with that one. Lol.
I love this movie. It’s such a great 90’s time capsule. It’s scary, fun and funny with a great sense of scale and spectacle that embodies not just the optimism of the 90’s but also the threatening, incoming times following the new millennium.
I'm shocked that Russel didn't at least get a statue in his honor in the sequel. The man was the one who figured out the critical weak point on the City Destroyers. RIP, bro 😭
I saw the sequel not that long ago on Tv and I can't remember much about it. I can recall at least 80% of the first movie and I watched that about 10 years ago. Really tells you how awful the 2nd is.
Will Smiths character dies before the beginning of the sequel the queen comes to the earth his adopted son takes his fathers place both aliens and humans had years to prepare for the next attack and most of the main characters that survived the first movie comes back oh and the president of the first movie scarifices himself like Russell does
I always believed that Russell was a true hero, because by sacrificing himself and getting revenge on the aliens, he was no longer crazy, because in the end, he was right all along.
Same here! I like the "gritty realism" of it versus other alien invasion movies. Plus the aliens make me think of first-contact Strogg (before they assimilated any humans)...
You do such a great job with these, going into behind the scenes detail that, like icebergs, the bulk is rarely rarely seen but known about. I would love to see you do a vid on a movie flop. Not to make fun of it mind you but to help juxtapose all the details, again behind the scenes that either make a movie a masterpiece or a forgettable failure.
I LOVE how the design of The Aliens and their ships is both similar and different at the same time, they even took concepts from the real world, such as The 1947 Roswell Crashing and Alien abduction.
Agree. The pushing of politics and being told what to feel, think and do is the main reason I do not watch movies anymore. I miss the days of people trying to create a great story instead of trying to find a way to push their agenda in a story. Creating a great story is 2nd or even 3rd on the list now.
Honestly my biggest question is where you find the information regarding the production of the films, as those are typically my favorite parts of your videos that discuss films. Honestly most of the other film review channels gloss over the information concerning production, effects, and casting so it is fun when you bring attention to those subjects.
imagine you're waking up to an otherwise normal day for you and you see your neighbors going batshit crazy and you go off thinking they're weird or something and a few moments later you're staring at a spaceship? I'd be super freaked out!
Hydrogen One i really enjoyed the 2nd movie, it would have been so difficult for the director to out do his 1st movie. Never the less the it was a little bit rushed but definitely worth it
Ahh, I remember when my mom first had me watch this movie, I don't regret watching it. Also was a great starter before I watched the men in black movies
I saw this in the cinema on opening day in Australia and I almost wet myself when that space craft came out of the fiery cloud. Another great vid my dude, keep up the awesome work ❤️
Peace... No peace! I love this movie and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Its my favourite brainless popcorn flick and I wish they still made them practically like this. It is 22 years old and still looks great.
HELLO BOYS! IM BAAAAAAAAAAAAACK! *boom!* My God, the badassery of this scene. The guy blew himself and the ship up while laughing and taunting these aliens. This movie was a simple, explosions-laden story but holy shit, it was entertaining! A good summer flick
It was said in either the second movie or its novelization, that the Ai race that was collecting survivors to build a coalition, created the hive aliens and they went rogue.
Lee Young I think the borg would because they can update their shield frequency after a number of attacks which would hinder the harvesters. Also once one was assimilated they’d know more on how to defeat them.
I was 24 when this came out. The first time I saw it, i was in the hi-fi theater. I remember being in a total hypnotic trance when the huge shadows covered the earth from the ships. Mind you, I had just smoked Jamaican weed.

This movie probably has the best motivational speech in any movie
My favorite part!! I not only tear up, I clap then salute when he's done!! Every. Single. Time.

Deep blue sea for me. Poor Sammy J

A legendary line in cinema.

Borrowing from another famous line lol "they're baaaack"
This film is and always will be a classic.
Aliens: "We need energy and resources!" * flies right past uninhabited planets and moons full of resources *
Inhabitated? The aliens don't give a rats about us as we found out when the President mind melded with them. Even for aliens with all their tech there are are reasons you'd mine the Earth vs Saturn, Mars, or Venus. The simpliest reason is that they can breathe our air.
I think a great spoof of Independence Day would involve these aliens, and pretty much be the sequel to Space Balls.
Colonising a planet with a breatheable atmosphere is far easier than without one. Even if they wanted to with other planets in our solar system, it's logical to take out any nearby civilization so they won't interfere with your operations.
That is dumb. Piper R bunch of losers
Lucky you, I wish I could say that. I've watched enough movies that I had people clap in it at least 15 times maybe 20.
Avengers endgame anyone?
@@crkt9971 bro avengers civil war😇😁

michael howell lol 😂
Excellent point lmao
"Alright, you alien assholes! In the words of my generation: 'UP YOURS!!!'"
Kieran Nicholls HELLO BOYS! IIIIIIIIIIII’MMMMMM BAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCKKKKKKK!
That was clearly a deliberate allusion.
makes you wonder if the aliens forget to run an anti-virus software 1996 edition.
Maybe they never invented hacking or some stupid shit
Lol how do you have them using a language you don't know
Vust Valeo
Nothing can beat that latest windows edition of the time.
Or maybe the aliens had McAfee and goldblum forced an uninstall lol.
Considering they are a hive mind hacking would be kinda pointless
Just do a Jeff Goldblume explained
My god that would be great haha.
That’s impossible, nobody can explain Jeff Goldblume
Must do faster .... must do faster ...
Watch his interviews with Conan O'brien. That's all you need.....
Your soundtracks make me go into an existential crisis

Great break down. I remember this movie was the shit when it came out.

Also when Russel first saw the alien bodies, he concluded that they weren't the same species that had abducted him, This part however was changed in the film.
J Garza they did seem that way. But now we know that they were bio mechanically engineered.
That’s cool and really interesting. There’s not enough lore around this crazy movie.
puss aliens. lol. but i understand.

I just had to go back and watch this (extended edition) film on July 4. Such a breathtaking, timeless movie. The effects still hold up to this day.
