Arc Systems definitely has a weird thing about constantly "telling" us that Mai used to be a guy, but never actually "showing" us (or having her do anything remotely masculine). :/

Wait, hasn't Hakuman astral activation priority over every other attacks, including all other astrals? Because until Cronophantasma extend it was always unbreakable even with catches.
Even funnier since Hakumen is also a future badass version of another character like Archer. Also, Junichi Suwabe (Archer) voices Relius of all people.

I'll be honest here, when Amane did his Astral on Mai i thought he would turn Mai back into a guy since Mai was a guy first when he was kid and grew up and such before transforming into a girl.

I think a get why Mai does´t turn back into a man when Amane make his astral, is kind of lame, but I think that the female body of May is´t younger that her time in school because before that time, that body did´t exist, as I say, is lame because that rule does´t seem to apply to other character with "special" bodies, but I think that´s the logic in this case.

alexander valester I believe that she cannot transform back to male because she still has the grimoire so even if she were to be turned a child the grimoire would simply change his gender to female

From what I understand Mai's body is the pure grimoire, and thus she technically no longer has a human body, she is something called a remix heart. From what I understand the pure grimoire destroyed Mai's body on contact, while it transferred Mai's mind and soul into the grimoire while it transformed into a new female body for her to control. So it is more of a forced reincarnation thing with intact memories of her past life.
Amane might have literally made her body 1 second old in that astral if what I understand is correct.
Edit: Mai could also be thrown into a cauldron and smelted into something very nasty that is on par with the azure grimoire in theory.
Everything about Mai is so bland.
The only thing interesting thing about her was that she used to be a dude, and they sweeped that one right under the rug as soon as possible. Like, what was even the point?
