Hi, Today I'll show you this Geiger Counter module which I purchased on Banggood for around 25$
I bought this Geiger counter mainly for two reasons:
1) It can be interfaced with Arduino Uno R3
2) The price is really cheap!
This counter mounts a Miller Tube with an operating voltage of 380V.
I have some ideas for this module, I would like to do a portable geiger counter or create a fixed monitoring station (interfacing Arduino) in order to have a precise reading of the radiation on a LCD display.
This Geiger counter could be used for:
- γRay 20mR/h~120mR/h
- βRay in range 100~1800
- Beta and Gamma radiation detetion.
Features of this Counter:
- 5V power supply,
- Sound and Light alarm
- Ardunio compatible
- supports most of the Geiger tube
- 330~600V operating voltage for Geiger tube
- Support computer data acquisition

That bibop is always there, it's normal. there's always some small radiation from Earth, it's not harmuful, humas got used to it a long time ago. very interesting device for a very affordable price
Hi, Thank you very much for the clarification, I didn't think that these normal radiations were detectable by such a small instrument.. then I have a little concern for the latest events in Russia 😅
Im thinking of buying the kit version of this
Where to get the kit version? I searched everywhere.
👍
interesting, what do u think of my stuff?
Do LCDs radiate?
It is possible to connect this module to Arduino to have an LCD display with precise radiation measuring
Yes but not in a harmful way, exist two kind of radiation, high and low energy, display radiation is low energy and we cannot detect it with a Geiger counter
Pretty late reply but yes, LCDs radiate very harmful radiation called light.
JK, but seriously though LCDs only emit light, and in the LCD there are two types of light sources (Backlight), LEDs (These are the Displays that are called LED displays) and fluorescent sources. The old CRTs however produced low amounts of x-ray radiation.
Preaty cool but where's the converter for the miller tube?
do you mean the converter to raise the voltage? in this case everything is included in the module
I'm guessing one of the 555s is working with one (or more) of the transistors and the inductor to be a basic boost convertor.
The detection tube doesn't need a lot of current at that high voltage.
