Born and raised Hilo side and as one hawaiian this was so wholesome to watch seeing a glimpse into my kūpunas past I so proud of the connection we had between are people and dah land so much mana
My mother was born in Kawaihae in 1904, a union between a Japanese fisherman and a native Hawaiian. Japanese immigrants came with families around !920 and Chinese came unaccompanied. This is why there are many half Chinese half Hawaiian inhabitants and not much half Japanese.
Very good video. Thank you. I love Kona and have visited twice a week each. My brother was a pilot for Sunshine Helicopters. I love the big island. I didn't want to leave each time. I wish I could live there. Anybody want to leave me some land? Hawi is great. 🙂 Aloha
The balmy weather is NOT what brought the Chinese, Portuguese and Japanese to Hawaii. It was the chance to earn a salary on the sugar plantations far better than they were earning in thier own country. They came by the tens of thousands starting in 1800’s and by 1890 they outnumbered Hawaiians. The Americans single handedly built the Hawaii agricultural industry and with it hundreds of thousands of immigrants came to improve thier lot in life.
Entry level plans coming home for good news 45 khon resident of course other unstained can you make some time with living in the actual island 🏝️🏝️ maunakea active villages of Kona.
