I was an ironworker working for Fluor in doing the same exact job in Pascagoula, MS in 2003. Mammoet was there, too. They were a pleasure to watch. The best in the world.

I was there too with Fluor, counting the pennies at the start of the (late) pre-TAR. Want there a problem with one drum not hanging true?

@@stephanweaver1960 i was just a welder on a crew of IW that was removing catwalks and then re-attaching the derrick floors. Among other things.

When I worked for Chevron (not at this facility) they had a video (which I am searching for) showing the entire process (from design, manufacturing, shipping, unloading at "harbor", road transport, setup of the Mammoet crane, and then this video). The smaller crane in the video (Bigge Crane) was used to setup the the Mammoet crane. I had Bigge set some evaporator modules for me and they rented a local crane to setup the same crane in the video. So there was a small hydro crane to setup the Bigge crane, which setup the Mammoet crane. I can't remember where they unloaded the vessels off the ship but it was very close and it wasn't a normal harbor.

I have watched this video many times as an advertisement. So glad I found it here. Absolutely magnificent!

Big time saver to pick and place top assembly in one piece. Then, pick and replace back in one piece. Always interesting watching large items being rotated from vertical to horizontal and visa versa by using a 2nd crane. Have to relieve all weight so no contact made on the base. It would be damaged due to weight of object being concentrated in small area.
You know it's going to be a big pick when you have to use huge cranes to put together an even bigger crane. Hundreds of tons of counterweight is also a clue to what is coming.

Have to wonder how they keep the lights on when moving a module. Long extension cords? Anyway, this is incredible stuff.

I thought that was the neatest thing about the video. Not sure if it were some safety reason, but it sure added to the over-all cool factor of the entire job

I want to work for a company like this, who look at something and don’t think No, we can’t do that. Push those boundaries of what you can achieve 👍

It's amazing what the engineering is doing. I have watched several times and I am just curious that how heavy it is.

Wouldn't be surprised if it cost a quarter mill a day for the crane
