Very interesting. So beautiful when you sit and think about it. In constant chaos we still can be at peace. Gods grace

Hey Mike, I was shocked myself to see how Peter Gabriel has aged since I saw him on the US tour back in the day. Glad to hear that your brother and father-in-law are both doing well. Will keep both of them in my 🙏prayers. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and week. Cheers.

I've thought many times about the command in Genesis to subdue the Earth, but I have never thought of it as fighting against entropy. Thanks for the different perspective.

I found this video extremely interesting. I would like to hear more about your work history. And I am keeping you, your brother and father-in-law in my prayers. The book of Isaiah and the book of Revelation have a lot to say about what’s going to happen with our world and universe. You have a blessed week my friend.

Very interesting video… Praying for your brother and Father in law. As far as names for the pipes:
    Reissued
    Amended
    Qualified 😂
I don’t know but I got lost in the thesaurus!

My brother has asbergers. It makes him quite the colorful character. Glad ur bro is doing better. And my mother LOVES Peter Gabriel. The pic of him u used on this thumbnail was from a cd she had growing up. I am NOT religious tho, so entropy terrifies me. Take care Mike. Thanks.

I really enjoyed a Claude Shannon bio type read from a few years ago titled "A Mind At Play".

I paused your video to remove some clothes from the dryer. After hanging a shirt in our walkin closet, I pulled the chain to turn of the closet light, and the chain pulled out of the fixture. Now I will need to replace the pull switch. Guess that would be an example of entropy, huh?:)

Dear, dear friend, while listening to you, my ears began ringing so I’m assuming that I am the existentialist you referred to! I remember some of our discussions about the purpose of life, something I started wondering about as early as first grade… Why are we here? Is there a greater purpose in life? Why is there so many inequities, why does violence and selfishness prevail so often?
Kierkegaard and Sartre asked themselves the very same questions and I believe that ultimately, since no one can say with certainty what happens after time and oxidation has gotten the better of us, that we should try to make the most of life even if there’s a possibility that all this is random and in vain.
Seeing things that way is not as scary to me because I can make sense of it all by adhering to the value of meaningful relationships we establish over the course of our lives. Most people we come across will only be passing by and have none of truly little influence, but family, friends and lovers provide a lot of validation, complicity, and affection. Along with our personal accomplishments, there is plenty to go about for, plenty to fill our souls and hearts.
We also exchanged about Marc Aurelius and his belief that people should ultimetaly only concern themselves with what they can control, and that virtue was the ultimate goal we should all be concerned with. I adhere to this philosophy. I believe hardships and pain to be very formative and great catalysts to become a better version of ourselves. Only experience can help us learn to grant importance to what really matters most, which is, unlike we are led to believe, not fame, fortune, power, or sexual conquests.
We need meaningful connections, which feeds us and pushes us to not only take as we eventually all learn that there is a lot more to gain by giving than receiving. You bring up an interesting point about an ultimate judgement or our deeds during our existence. Of course, being an INFP, I see life with a naiveté that is not accessible to everyone, but I truly believe that striving to be good, honest and selfless are rewards in themselves. The reason is that we can escape judgements from a divinity or greater force, as we do from a lot of people but not from… ourselves.

Thank you my dear existentialist friend 😉 I agree with you on everything but the statement that you can escape judgement from a divinity. That is simply not possible. And even if one was to reject the existence of God, that leaves you with the terrifying need to rely on the goodness in others for survival. For if our only judge is ourselves, then we will only be as good as we think we need to be. I am forever thankful that you are one of the good ones.

For me, Peter Gabriel's early solo career was Peter at his best. I have totally refrained from going to any concerts that feature the old musicians that are now in their 70's. 🙏will continue.

    • @CaneRodPiper
      @CaneRodPiper  4 місяці тому

Thanks, Brian. The problem I have is that I can't stand modern music. So, I don't recognize anyone younger than 70 as a musician, and I simply don't recognize anyone over 70 cause they are old 😂😂

@@CaneRodPiper Ya, same here ..... I don't know any of the the new musical artists and won't listen to or go to the concerts of the now 70 year olds so I have stepped back from music and just listen to talk radio and I'm happy with that.

At least you have determined that listening to old rock singers should be done with eyes closed if you want to avoid entropy

Peter Gabriel 'eh? That was a while back. Music today has gone in ways we couldn't predict then. Eurovision 2024 winner some "non binary" wild child. LOL, only because of its absurdity.
