What a joy to see Tommy's sons performing. Such beautiful singers, such quality in their voices. I hope that they are still out there building on their Father's legacy. Tommy and his talent are too important to be lost to future generations. A voice for the ages. Much loved. Very much missed.
Tommy Makem was a saint, a patron saint of Irish folk music. His narrative at 12:00 about Irish immigrants leaving their home counties on their gravestones was very touching. Years ago, while tracing our family tree, my parents came to a dead end. Until they found a grave in Portland ME which had the name of our ancestor's hometown. (Iveleary, now called Inchegeela). From there we could trace the family further back into Ireland.
Its A Very Sad Shame that the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem Aren,t Alive Anymore. I Used to Listen to Many of the Songs That they Wrote And Sung and I Surely Did Enjoy It Very Much and I Sure Miss their Company and I Do Wish to Hope that there Could be More Irish Groups Like them and The Only Thing is That there will Never Be Another Group Like theres Ever Again.
