Damn you explained it so good . I’m 44 and was diagnosed at 19th with anxiety disorder. You name the symptoms I’ve had them through out my life . I was so scared to take medication. I suffered for years . I ended up taking Paxil at 25 because I fall into depression because of the anxiety. It did help me eat again and sleep . After a year on it with self help programs I got off and was ok for like 10 years . I have done so many behavior modification programs so I know you can heal . But sometimes we do need help and no matter how much you try and think positive and change your life style your body needs to heal. I just started lexapro because no matter what I’m doing I can’t shake the anxiety this time . All my programs aren’t helping me. I’m so glad I started it because I already feel so much better. I’m on 5 and I may stay in a year or two then try and get off . I do remember years ago every time I took the Paxil I would shake I was so scared of it . This time because I already been through it I’m much better and very thankful we have medication that can help us .

@leeanna, Dr says I have GAD.2 yrs ago. I had so much anxiety worryiny much abt taking the meds the second time (I took. Med.2 yrs and I had bad memories from the initial. 2-3 wks loading phase) when I was hit with stress which led to GAD resurfacing again. Do you get anxiety taking it again?

@@7815214a I always get more anxiety taking any medication. It could medication for anything. That’s actually one of my triggers . I don’t know why I’m s ares medication . I have LPR , bad acid reflux and other sensitive stomach issues . I won’t even take medication for that because I read in the long run it does more damage then good . I’m always trying to do things naturally if I can . So when I take medication for my anxiety and or depression feelings it’s when I really tried everything in my power to heal myself. I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder when I was like 19 , so I understand how frustrating that can be . You don’t need a trigger it just happens. However changing a lot of bad habits and staying positive does help it . I’ve lived a lot of years not in the disorder type of anxiety. I’ve always stayed sensitive to anxiety, like if I didn’t take care of myself I could feel it try and pop up type deal . Only a hand full of times it popped back out as the disorder making my life really hard . So I would go back to healing and being patient with the process even though it suck’s .

I have no support system. I just turned 66 and am the sole caretaker of my 93 year old Mother who has lived with me for 10 years after she could no longer live alone. My grown kids are living their life and don't have time to come around. I have had anxiety since my teens. In my 30's I was put on Paxil and in 6 weeks, it just about sent me over the edge until I stopped taking it. I now have both anxiety and depression. Dr. has prescribed Lexapro, it is sitting on my dresser, too scared to start it. Perhaps I could try 2.5 for a few weeks and move up? Just wish I had someone in case I feel like crap but my care for my Mom is everyday.....

Taking these kinds of medicines usually takes 1-2 weeks to start seeing positive benefits and sometimes month or a little more to see the full benefits. taking it one time shouldn’t have any positive or negative benefits unless you have an allergy to the meds. Don’t take my word 100% but found that out through doing some research online

Yes having GAD is horrible BUT !! And it’s a big BuT … my question is why do I have to pay with my psychical well being for my mental well being ? So I am already struggling with my weight , down there everything’s working super good . And I have just a slight depression due to can’t do things to the fullest right? So if I start taking these meds causing low libido / ED plus there is a great chance that I also gonna be super hungry and gaining weight … So basically I have to choose between being Anxious or being Obese, high blood pressure and high cholesterol??l THAT IS NOT A MEDICATION… side effects are put me in deep depression and not taking the meds cause GAD …. to me It says that they don’t know fuck all about this condition and they just throwing you these pills to make you shut the fuck up … truth is Doctors need to fucking level up to this game coz these meds are absolutely rubbish.
