been searchin 4 dis tune 4 20 years....i had an old copy on cassette from the radio.....ta 4 puttin it up its wicked....myversion was all three mixed together, monasis radio. top tune
I used to buy untold reggae mainly Shaka-influenced vinyl from everywhere but often the Record & Tape Exchange, mostly Camden, Notting Hill, the Bush, but also a few others. One time I found a fat, heavy, tick 12", the label on both sides totally obliterated with nasty red gloss paint applied roughly in thick daubs until all was covered up. I'd seen cover up jobs but this was on another level entirely. The disc felt good & weighty so I bought it, probably for about 50p, I am not lying. When I got home, it turned out to be this 12", [edit: not the repress] which I ended up foolishly trading with my mate, for something shit like "Green Bay Incident" was it, or maybe "travelling" 7" Debra whatserface on an Upsetter seven, but still... :(
But 'green bay incident' -there were a lot had that title or G B Killing /murder/dead nothing said.. etc (Glenroy Richard's 'green bay'- youthman rhythm was good) ..Debra 'Keese' ?? I think.. I heard that Dub vendor ladbroke is shut .true?? Did The vinyl you had have 3 tracks on 1 side ?? I have the rockers international 7" of 'book of life '/ Levi dub & I think it sounds more 'solid' than the Africa 83/ africa dub cd 2 on 1 that Greensleeves did couple years ago.
@@andchat6241 My mate still has the 12". I'll ask him... to make sure but yeah as far as I remember it had the 3 cuts on one side. This 12" ...somewhere here said "tinny" - dunno what people call tinny nowadays but even this compressed, digitised audio track shows that to be a fallacy.
@@Bmatic thats a coincidence! , I was just listening to a 'home made cassette(remember them?!)' bought at a sound system ,titled' 1HOUR OF QUALITY PABLO' & it kicks off with 'Book of life' then 'Jah Levis(Mundell) Deejay take & then into the dub.. The tape has a few Everton da Silva productions including Horace Andys 'Government man' followed by Prince Mohammeds mighty deejay toast & dub + the full length version of Andys 'if i had' with dub & some classic versions on the 'Mr Bassie ' rhythm.....'Da Silva I think would have proved to be a very special 'late roots' producer if he had the chance .. But like Jah Mundell he ended up as another tragic statistic........ But the Music lives on.
@@andchat6241 the tracks you mention off that cassette (which I'm sure included 'Jah strength ital step' cut of Mr Bassie by the way) ..make me feel sure that same Pablo set went around everywhere cos I had (have?) that bc mix as well... Nothing heavier than a full weight Pablo set & I would include Think Twice D Williams in any new playlist along those lines...plus a few others not yet mentioned. Notably this /\ especially the singjay version just ... words can't explain how heavy the Pablo sound can be... the best of A Pablo beats about everyone for me, which is saying something!
Agreed with your closing comment. But really, check the acoustics on the original vinyl before you chat about "tinny" maybe. Not many vinyl releases had as much depth/ tonality / bass, you name it, this mix is just h-e-a-v-yweight. Respect still.
Jah Levi is the Master and the Dubbing is a Masterpiece
Yes! Thats the tracks that kicked off my 'Hour of quality Pablo' cassette...

The sound is a bit tinny, too much mid to high, adjusted, the dub version, 'Levi Chant', which this is, ranks as the highest, of all Chants.

12" nice but Sounds too slow!
With love, maybe you are going too fast?
@@anniesmith7751 I couldn't agree more, & nicely put! :)
