It is probably worth pinning this comment. I am the one who bought the very same purple bush from Marek on eBay. Zero complaints on additional cabin noises. But then again my gearbox never had any issues or noises to start with. I’d say if your gearbox whines, then the PU bush might amplify it. Another complimenting mod is the clutch stop. 1h job combined for both upgrades
Thank you for the comment. It’s great to hear it works well for you. I think both yellow and purple one are great additions. And I can confirm, clutch stop is a must too. I had it since day 1.
I installed the yellow one with the two black fronts and also a metal pivot pin on the gearbox (installed new reinforced dual disc clutch with dmf) and I have also a lot of noises since then... Also I can clearly hear the starter motor from the inside now... Mine is an M140i so should be similar...
I have the same setup, I think most noise transfer comes from the front bushes.it is indeed pretty noisy. Currently experimenting with some sound insulation.
Thanks great video. I think I ,will go with the yellow on my M240i as I’ve got Powerflex inserts on the rear subframe and diff and they’ve worked really well for me.
Thank you for your video. Speaking about gearstick vibration, which one helps to reduce play more? Yellow or purple one? I was looking for something to reduce my gearstick play! Thank you so much
No I haven’t. I’m scared to try any black stuff as I think it’s the hardest compound which could introduce more noise and vibrations. If you try it, let me know what difference it made as I would be interested to hear about it.
Hi, did you get any less noise with the yellow powerflex than the purple powerflex bushing? Becouse i have the purple one and i got some noise between 1 and 2 gear. But that in mind i had some noise in my gearbox with the original bushing before i put on the purple powerflex. So i think its something wrong inside my gearbox. It have been hard to put in gear from day one i bought the car, and so bad at one point that i could not put it in gear from cold and had to wait until it got some heat in it. Changed the oil at 28000km and it was black. Looked like it had been there for 300000km. Mine is a M2 Competition, but im pretty shure its the same gearbox as the OG M2. How was your Norway trip? Regards Ollie from Norway. 😎
A bit less, but it’s not a huge difference. I also heard this noises with standard busing but these ones amplify it. These gearboxes are quite bad especially 1st and second gear. In my case it sounds like the noises coming from the clutch bearing. BMW changed whole clutch and it didn’t help. Norway was amazing and I’m working on another episode. Best regards 👋
@@MDrives Okey. Then i wont bother to change it out for the yellow one. My car is still under warranty so i will contact BMW with this issue. After my car get hot its the 3 gear that is the worst. Have some scraping sound when selecting 3 gear.

great video. you should do a video comparing turner motorsports shifter bushing and the proflex.
I guess they will work exactly the same as the materials they use will be the same.

I bet the feel changed completely too.

Thanks. Probably the best happy medium. Regards 👋

I think they both reduce play equally. The purple one is stiffer but even yellow one is quite hard compared to black rubber
Interesting mod. Thinking if should go for it or not. I dont like crunchy noises.
To me the advantage of nicer gear changer outweighs any disadvantages.

Did you also try Shift Carrier Bushing - PFF5-4631 BLK ?
