- 🇩🇰 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗟 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗖𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗛𝗔𝗚𝗘𝗡! 🇩🇰 Things to Do - Fun History - Colourful Buildings - and why Danes are so dang happy!
Nyboder is a distinctive neighbourhood in central Copenhagen, famous for their traditional yellow row houses. They actually date all the way from the 1600s (although most current buildings standing date from the 1750s), and there's even a museum - Nyboders Mindestuer - where you can look inside and see how people lived every day, regular lives in Copenhagen in the 16th and 17th Centuries.
Join me in this video as I take you on a tour around the neighbourhood, point out some fun historical things you can look out for, and then I take you through those famous green doors to show you what these tiny little houses look like from the inside!
A huge thank you to Nyboders Mindestuer for letting me film here. Normally you aren't allowed to photograph inside but I received special permission, as I really wanted to share this part of Copenhagen in a video to encourage others to check it out & learn more about the history behind the colourful facades. The museum did not sponsor this video in any way - I paid for my own ticket :)

Otherwise to simply find out opening times, etc, visit their website at www.nybodersmindestuer.dk
Also note: if you visit Nyboder, please keep in mind that this is a RESIDENTIAL area. These are people's homes and everyone might not appreciate their home being filmed. Please remain respectful when touring the area.

For a coffee & pastry before strolling through the neighbourhood, try nearby Den Rene Brød.
If you're more in the mood to sit down to a proper, Danish meal after touring the area, Nyboders Køkken is a classic Danish restaurant right next to the Nyboder neighbourhood. Big portions, good prices, yummy food!

Brilliant! I love your videos.
Thank you so much, Ronin!
I lived in Nyboder for 5 years. (Suensonsgade 2). Damn cold in the vinter time.
Oh wow, how lucky!! Yeah I've heard some residents, even when it's not winter, have to wear hats/scarves in the house because it can be so chilly 😅 Do you miss it?
I lived up the street at " Rigensgade" . I attended "Nyboder School". Every morning (except Sundays), I got up at 3am, to take care of my "Paper route",, which was "Nyboder". Easiest Route EVER 😎 ! Even easier when I got my Moped, though I did make a lot more noise 😲 !
Thank you! I visited this place this week and it was interesting!
My family is originally from Olfert Fischersgade and yet so much of this is new to me, thank you for bringing it to me... love your vids, I am learning so much about my birthplace and somehow feel ashamed that I dont know.... keep going.....
Quality stuff as per usual!
Thank you so much Spiff! 😊

No problem Talia, thanks so much for your sweet comment!
Thank you, Erin, for the excellent Nyboder backstory ... !
Awesome video. Nyboder is such a cute place! Thanks for sharing 👍
I find I’m actually envious of you, Erin. You go and visit all these cool places, of which I prolly should know more of. I didn’t realise Nyboder had it’s own museum until watching your video just now. And then it’s just … Of course they do. 😂
The dog figurine thing in the windows was something new to me … but quite a sweet tradition.
I feel like this channel/my video projects is my crash course in learning everything about Copenhagen 😂 Definitely go visit the museum if you get the chance! There's loads more to see than I included here 🙂
Thanks so much for watching! ❤️
Totally true about the Dogs. Rumor has it, that it was mostly a signal for the wife's lovers 😀 ! Good post, as always 👍 !
So Dad and daughter "Young" were in Ireland. On a Van trip/tour 😊. See if you can spot two "Nyboder" Dogs 😀 (They are there 👍). Have a nice weekend 😊 !!
Hi dear look forward to see😍
Nice Copenhagen
If you go to Nyboder, you will often see two porcelain dogs in the windows 😀 ! They can either be faced out or inward! Do you know why 😊 ?
Yeah I didn't know until recently! Such a lovely, traditional idea 😁
Not sure the Husbands at Sea, would agree 🤣 🤣 ! You 🇨🇦 Canucks 🇨🇦 are to Polite for your own good 😁, and to good for this world 👍🙂👍 !!
