Im calling this right now.. after watching YEARS of Fallon's videos and watching THIS video i see right now that now THIS is a winning combination. The way Fallon talks about (in the Journey To The Juvenile) and how she trains her horses and how this guy trains is so similar. Yep.. winning team.

As a dressage rider, this was super-duper interesting. His leg yield and half-pass are super technical, and another reminder that regardless of your discipline ( English, Western, Polo, Spanish Eq, etc), that biomechanics are still the name of the game. Honestly, I would love a chance to ride a high level western performance horse. Thanks Fallon

This actually helped me so much!! I have a mare I’m training on the barrels rn and she’s not very confident so she’s dodging the barrels a lot. I’m definitely going to work on the pattern a lot but I feel like the bending and being soft will also help!

I’m jealous you get to pick the brain of such an amazing trainer!
My question is how best to deal with a bucker? Not a break in half bucker, just one that occasionally will throw a fit mid ride and is unpredictable. Tack fits, all vet checks clear and are up to date. She just has moments where little things set her off into a bucking fit. Using too much leg? A bite towards the leg or a buck will follow. Too much pressure to move forward when in an uncomfortable situation like a new place? Hello bucking fit! Don’t let her take the trail or direction she wants? Buck. She’s a foundation bred mare, more specifically line bred King P234 lines top side, three bars, cutter bill bottom. She’s a nice horse with a comfortable ride, but I swear she has a multiple personalities disorder 😂

Did he just say a horse cannot lift hin back unless the nose is behind the vertical? That is just incorrect. Also, a horse cannot bend the neck correctly when behind the vertical, due to the way the first few vertebrae are shaped. The positions he ist asking for there, are hurtful and harmful for the horse, especially at that young age. Softening a horse is a good thing, but not beyond a certain point.

Kids don’t mature physically or mentally till around age 25 but we don’t lock them in a closet till they are mature. We give appropriate instruction and activity based on their maturity. Same with horses. As he said, 20 minutes for the babies and extend the time when they can handle it.
