What comes with the kit to hold the “clips” in place? You say you used a self tapping screw. Do those come with it? Also, the measuring between brackets. Do you measure 36” and 38” from the hole that you drilled for the center bracket? Or do you measure from the front and rear edges of the center bracket?
The width is pretty universal as you'd want the style made for an 8' wide boat. However, I've come across several brands of boats who custom make their own size bimini frames and canvas tops. Unfortunately in those cases if a new canvas is needed it must go to a local upholstery shop to have one recreated. You could reach out to a G3 dealer to see if that size is orderable too.
We just installed a 8x10 on a boat with an 18’ deck and even had an 8x10 on our own 16’ (went longer so we could do a camper enclosure). Just make sure you have the railing Space to install…all said n done the brackets will span about 82” along each side of the railing.
My bimini top has 4 bow's and measures 8' 10" long and 93" wide. I can only find 8' & 10' long replacement's. Will the bow's adjust to fit the 8' tops?
Is your boat a Bennington? A few brands have their own unique sizes that only a canvas shop can customize to recreate, or checking with a dealer to see if one can be ordered from the manufacturer.
Great video. But why not wait to put front mounts till you have bimini up. Seems to be a little loose. I've have many center console boats and I've always had my bimini tops tight so not to flap in the wind. Just wanted your thought.
You’ve got a great question there, and yes, I’m sure your idea could help tighten things up. We chose to demonstrate installing the bimini following the measurements in the instructions. The beauty of this bimini design is that all four legs are completely adjustable to get that canvas snug and the angles exactly how you want them!
Haven’t done a double Bimini yet, but this would install the same way on the bow. Would just need a zipper or snaps to connect stern Bimini to bow if going that route.
Hi Tom do you have a video of you mounting a pontoon stuff Bimini on a 1 inch railing? I would like to see how the hardware attaches to the frame before I make the purchase for the new 8 x 8 Bimini and frame and boot Thankyou
I do not have a video of doing that. If I were installing the Heavy Duty Bimini on a 1" railing I would push them to the inboard side of the railing so that the lip on the bracket is pressing against the outside of the railing. I'd also either add an extra bolt or drill two new holes on each side of the factory one to run bolts through. A pair of holes and bolts would keep it from trying to rotate or wallow the holes out over time.
I know you can’t be exact but what’s a ruff price for new fencing? Our boat is a 20 foot Lowe boat but we took the side doors out so we would have a deck on the front
The new railing kits are on Pontoon stuff's website now!! The 18' kit with a sundeck cushion and everything is $2400 (before my discount code). They have a 17' kit too for $2200 to give you more front deck if you want.
Hey tom. After u install the bimini, there is a half cushion behind you covering where a fuel tank or battery goes. Where did you get that. Right now we have a full sundeck on the back. Our motor top is big and when we raise it, it hits that sundeck. Id like to remove that full length sun deck and just cover the battery and fuel compartments.
We had a local upholsterer make that for us. I take him the board that’s been cut to fit, and then he works his magic to match the furniture and accent designs. Any local upholsterer should be able to do that for you…usually $300-$500 for a small custom pad like that

Besides filling screw holes in the rails, loosing some forward overhead coverage, and extending the stern LED wires, are there any cons you can think of that I should consider?
No cons at all! Make it work best for you. Just take the measurements for the mounting bracket spacing so you can replicate it when you move everything back.
Great summation, there are more occasions when the bimini does not need to be raised for fishing and even pose limitations if raised. Even a new top is only so tall and would need the same consideration in order to fully use the deck unobstructed.

You're not the first person to have that happen, so don't feel bad. They don't necessarily design the bimini and boot to be trailered going 60+ mph! @@reynoldsautorepair173 I don't think I do. The heavy duty version from Pontoon Stuff has taller brackets that bolt to the railings. The bimini will lay into those keeping it from resting too heavily on seat backs or sundeck cushions. I’ve swapped the pin for a 1/4” Philips head bolt to avoid harming furniture. Lean the seat back in just enough to insert the bolt from the inside out, then tighten a nylock nut on the outside just enough to catch the nylon, but not enough for any sharp edges. The brackets that come with the kit are pretty tall and clear seat backs on most occasions, especially if your railings are 26” or taller.
Will these lay flat
Yes, they’ll be just as tall as the frame tube is when laid all the way back and down.
@@tomspontoons do you have a video showing it laid down? I’m ordering one tonight
@@reynoldsautorepair173 I don't think I do. The heavy duty version from Pontoon Stuff has taller brackets that bolt to the railings. The bimini will lay into those keeping it from resting too heavily on seat backs or sundeck cushions. There are bimini trailering struts that you can order on Amazon too to help pop it up 6 inches if need be. Otherwise it lays back as flat as possible for trailering so that it's not catching wind.
Where did you get that top
Top came from Pontoon Stuff. It was several months back, not sure where they are for inventory at this point. Try giving them a call!
For tracker pontoons
This is a universal top, it’ll work on most pontoon boats with a 1.25” tube railing.
