Have you tried adding more genetics to your tank? Deformities usually mean too much inbreeding every time I start to notice deformed babies I add 3-5 new guppies and that usually solves the problem for a while
She adds new fish quite often

Just curious… how often are they having babies?
She gets more views from having deformed guppies so she purposely keeps breeding them. Hence why she is mixing male and female deformed guppies together, so they can breed amd have even worse deformed babies.
This is what makes this girl happy, some professional may take this as a pretty strong sign of a menta! imbalance...
I love that you care. Too many people would have just been like "oh well".
Allowing the fish to continue breeding, knowing they’re producing deformed babies, is inhumane. If you stop the fish from breeding, there wouldn’t be a need for an extra tank for the deformed fish
@@01SaltyWitch how are you going to stop little fish from breeding when most fish are unrecognizable with gender, that and they do it when you least expect it, and not even factoring in how you could even find WHICH fish is breeding these out.
@@wopezstarzDidnt you know the mama fish having all these issues with malformations in her children went to a Harvard trained OBGYN who sent her to a geneticist. The hardest part was tracking down all the daddies in the tank to give their DNA samples so they can run an in depth genetic analysis.

I believe it’s called a walstad aquarium method, it’s when there are no filters because of the plants inside the tank . The plants use the waste as a natural fertilizer. And if you look at the bottle it says POND expanding foam, it’s for deformed fish which I’m assuming means blind so they won’t be bothered by the bowl, but the other fish I’m not really sure, but I hope this comment clears up most issues!
I used to work with different chemicals for over 10 years in lab work, the foam you’re using (even when cured and hardened) still releases small amount of chemicals/gases into your fish’s water. I strongly advise changing their tank as it can become extremely toxic
The stuff she’s using is made for fish tanks so I assume it would be ok!
And they’re already deformed 😂
I was wondering about that . . . .
@@nicolec5841 I looked it up and it doesn't specifically say fish tanks. Specifically designed to blend in and withstand moist conditions, GREAT STUFF Pond & Stone can be used on a variety of projects such as retaining walls, water features and landscaping.

Most of those deforms will outlive your normal guppies.
I made a tank for my deformed males, started with 4 about 3 years ago and now got 2 left but the other 2 only died a few months ago.
The other 50 odd healthy males all died within a year.
I think it’s because the deforms are left to do their own thing in peace where a tank full of healthy guppies is constant excitement.
I think the constant excitement is what lowers the life expectancy of the guppy.

Jesus is coming back. . Please Get right with the Lord and read the Bible.
I don't think it's too much excitement that leads to a short life. It's more likely the guppies you had in that tank died off because their large population allowed the spread of disease. In the other tank with the deformed guppies there were fewer fish so diseases like parasites had a hard time spreading.
@@kathleenmoore9534🙏🏾
I think it’s probably because the new generations have adapted to their environment and whatever specific water and chemicals and temperature etc there is, evidence of obvious deformities means that animal has changed slightly or a lot more than its parents, and probably changed a lot more to be better suited to its environment which is why anything changes
Pov, you're a baby fish thanking your normal, and you get put in the deformed baby sanctuary 💀

Absolutely no hate (but with sincere concern), I’m a scientist that works in a lab and deals with a lot of medical device extracts. All materials have chemicals that leech out when submerged in water or oil after a certain amount of time. We determine whether these extracts are toxic/mutagenic. I highly recommend being cautious when it comes to deciding what to put in your fish tank. For instance, I’ve never tested that “black foam” before but it doesn’t seem like something that is meant to be submerged in a fish tank, for fish to live in. I know you want what’s best for your fishies and it definitely was a cool idea, but you may want to consider that.
Edit: I now see that it’s a product purposely meant for fish tanks, etc. It’s my bad for not catching that. It's still good to keep in mind though that literally everything releases an extract of some sort- even things like metals, wood, plastic, etc. I see so many things that we test that turn out to be mutagenic/toxic and yet are still available to the public and marketed as "safe". Having worked with plenty of chemicals and test substances, this was the first thing that came to mind. I found the MSDS sheet for the product where you can see/research each individual ingredient (important for use in the laboratory as well as for the consumer). These types of things usually contain toxins and I was not surprised to find some. Just something to keep in mind is all.
I believe they are fish safe as they are specifically for tanks, ponds, etc. type. Have seen my dad used it and there were no problems. Kinda curious if it really is bad though as I see nothing through the net on my end as well hehehe
That was my first thought when she pulled out the black foam lol

Oh, hei! I have deformed guppy myself. They have super wavy curved back when they just a fry. So I separate them in a tank that always exposed to morning sun. When they get a lot bigger, the curved back just healled little by little until they looks normal.
You need to separate the males and females so you dont keep purposely breeding deformed guppies.
In fact there is nothing worse that you could do than putting in male and female deformed guppies together, im pretty sure i don't need to explain what will happen next...
Yeah I thought this too

that’s one hell of a first line
Someone correct me if Im wrong. No hate intended. But I thought that fish bowls were very disorienting to the fish and unhealthy?
For what i search, not really, they require more care tho, because of things like "less surface area" and "limited placement of equiment", but it's possible to successfully keep fish in them, "just needs to be sure to have sufficient oxygenation"
Anyway, i am no expert, this is just what i found
Yes you're right, ex-fish shop employee here, many years ago all round bowls were recalled from fish stores where I live because they're ab*sive. The round bowl reflects the fish's image with that "fish eye" effect making them constantly think they're being chased by a larger fish. It's horrible!!!
It can be pretty bad for fish from what I understand.
Besides what was already commented here, it can also stunt the growth of a fish depending on how big they get, for example: Goldfish
They get pretty big, but being kept in small fish bowls stunts their growth
I don’t know, my goldfish lived to almost 20 (yes same fish, he was missing scales so I know he wasn’t replaced by my parents) in a small goldfish bowl. We cleaned the bowl monthly and used distilled water.
It’s disorienting for seeing fish…but luckily they can’t see so they don’t get disoriented. :D
Am I the only one who thinks the expanding foam is toxic to the fish so this is more like a funeral home rather than a sanctuary?
I know that isn’t the creators intent, so don’t come for me I’m not accusing her of animal cruelty.
Not the only one but apparently that stuff is made for fish habitat.

Legitimate question here- how are you not having a Hapsburg level canon event with your fish inbreeding so much?
And if the deformed ones start breeding what then
Fish genetics are different than humans. Inbreeding isn't a problem for them
@@Fire-Rabbit87 unfortunately that is just not true. Inbreeding is an issue for fish as well, as demonstrated by the birth of so many malformed offspring. While fish are more tolerant of inbreeding than mammals they absolutely do suffer ill effects when not managed properly.
Guppy's breed quickly so inbreeding is pretty much unavoidable
wont they suffer just being alive though?
I don't really think so. I'm pretty sure the deformed babies mainly suffer from being bullied by other fish, so this kind of solves that problem and gives them a chance at a nice life.

(EDIT!!!! So people have told me the foam doesn’t leech into the water, so please do your own independent research to reach your own conclusions. The foam is made of polyurethane, which is a type of plastic used in kitchen sponges. Some articles and research papers state Polyurethane leeches into water, so I’m not sure where people are getting the idea that it’s safe. My other points still stand though, especially about the uncycled and non-filtering fish bowl!).
Expanding foam doesn’t sound very eco friendly or animal friendly especially to fish. Plastic is known to leech harmful chemicals over time. Being submerged in water doesn’t help slow that down either. Expanding foam definitely doesn’t sound like it’s made to be under water and not leech. You should stop putting plastic products in your water for your fish…
It’s about as harmful as you sitting on a plastic chair with shorts on

100% agree this is so bad for the fish. If this is what she does no wonder her fish babies are coming out deformed. That’s probably how it happened in the first place!
Do you think the deformed babies might have some thing to do with putting toxic foam in the tank? Why aren’t you trying to figure out why your fish are having deformed babies?
Hopefully, the black expanding foam isn't toxic to the fish.
It’s pond foam! It won’t breakdown and Leech
It's insanely toxic, no such thing as safe foam. Just because it's marketed as 'pond foam' doesn't mean that it's safe. All foams cause cancers, birth defects, and other diseases.
After looking into the components of the foam stuff it seems a lot of them actually aren’t fish-safe so if that gets damaged in anyway those fish will slowly be poisoned end up passing 😅
The one she's using is a fish friendly foam I've looked into getting it before, but I'm sure any old foam could be toxic since they do market that one as non toxic for your fish lol
From my perspective, saving lives that were meant to end by natural causes can be considered just as cruel. Deformations occur naturally, and parents will eat any offspring born with them. Since You can't be certain that these deformities won't cause issues with eating, breathing or digestion for the fish, isn't it just as plausible you're causing them more pain by forcing them to live with their deformities?
There's a reason animals kill/eat their deformed offspring in the wild and people don't interfere with it.
I dont want to be a negative nancy either but keeping any super deformed babies alive can be super painful for them especially if they have more internal issues from a spine deformity or a organ issue
Ikr, this video is so disappointing coming from the same person who made a video talking about why humane euthanasia of deformed guppies is necessary and important, definitely not just something you stop doing because you don't feel like it anymore.

Bowls like these have been proven to be bad for fish. It'll leave them disoriented and unhealthy
Isn’t that tank kinda.. small?
I mean I’m in no way an expert but that just looks so tiny for them to live all their lives in.
I just googled it and it says it should at least be a 54 Liter tank (60 x 30 x 30 cm) for Guppy’s.
The bigger it is the better
They’re unlikely to live happy mature life due to deformities she’s very aware of the cruelty she committing here.
Their babies rn so no
@Waspinmymind It's a temporary baby sanctuary, if they live to maturity she will move them somewhere bigger
My question is why are there so many deformed fish that its necessary to even make a "Deformed Baby Sanctuary"??
Deformities usually means somethings very wrong in the parents DNA OR Something is going very wrong when the fry are in the eggs.
Then again Guppies seem like they are kinda pathetic and weak in general from what Ive seen of them....Then again Ive never seen wild Guppies so maybe Wild ones are stronger than the domestically bred ones....Wild animals of all kinds tend to be stronger than domestic ones....Domestic animals just tend to live longer because theyre being protected and cared for when injured or sick.
Anyway with so many deformed Babies that a sanctuary is needed I would really would look into finding out whats causing it.
The most common issue is inbreeding so definitely make sure the stock is rich in DNA and genetically diverse.
Another culprit could be chemicals; though Aqua soil and foam is supposed to be safe for fish so I doubt its those things. I actually used aqua soil in all my tanks when I had multiple fish and I didnt have any issues with it so Im pretty sure thats really safe for fish. My current fish we have left was a little 10 cent feeder Koi/Goldfish Hybrid that we never expected to live long and just got as a nice little friend for my child to look at....and Dudes been alive for like 7 years now....And is Huge now.
The other culprit could be parasites that have been brought in by the live plants or even in the water if you use natural rain water.
Its likely a long shot cause most parasites attack bigger fish not tiny eggs.
But being sick with parasites could effect the health of the fish eggs.
It can also effect their waste and how toxic it is which can effect the eggs.
But....That is pretty noticable so youd likely have already solved it by now if that was it.
My last idea....
Is just disease. There are diseases that fish can get that dont effect them too much but can be catastrophic in the babies.
And many times when a fish is sick other fish will attack it. Now of course being deformed and not able to swim away fast can also lead to attacks. Those are universal reasons for basically all animals.
They have test sets out there you can get to test for diseases in the water and from swabs from the fish' mucus coating.
And if its none of the above things then I am totally stumped and this is a serious mystery that needs solving for future baby fish sake.
im shocked that u just create ALL OF THAT YOURSELF
u're a very good fish mom love yah
I may sound rude but please make more videos and shorts I think you should do more updates and I think you should add more guppies (from different lines )to prevent such incidents and prevent inbreeding

SANCTUARY?! are u freaking kidding 😂😂😂 ROUND BOWL IS WORST YOU CAN DO TO FISH. WHERE IS WATER FILTER?! you need fucking education before keeping those poor fish
If the tank is big enough, the shape is not a problem, it is quasi a nano tank and there are definitely filterless aquariums, you just have to find a balance between fish and plants, but this is more of a professional level... I'm more worried about the foam in the water

Maybe they are deformed because of the chemicals contained in black expanding foam? Probably not very healthy for them.
The tank looks nice but how much space did you take up adding all that foam??
I found myself worrying that the black foam might leech chemicals myself, and also, after a disaster my sister’s aquarium experienced at the hands of her well-meaning life partner, I learned that just any old water won’t do. The temperature and purity of the water, how saline it is or isn’t, even how the bowl was washed, all matters. I had no idea! So find out from an exotic fish expert at a shop that specializes in them.
It’s the “special” bowl
Are there specific precautions and cleaning measures to keep in mind when using expanding foam in a tank?
I don’t know much about expanding foam to begin with, let alone when adding fish (as far as toxicity, how it “seals” when set, etc).
This is the coolest idea and I’d love to try it.
Once the foam sets it’s completely safe for the fish. Expanding foam is extremely common to use when setting up Aquascapes or terrariums. It’s most commonly used to hold a hard scape of rocks and branches together but it can also be carved to look like rocks as well. It’s not usually as noticeable as how she used it here. But still a safe and easy material to use.
It’s maintenance is pretty straightforward. It’s not much different then having wood or rocks.
Make sure the foam you use is meant specifically for use in aquariums, not the kind you get in a hardware store
Damn I didn't know there was a sanctuary for my brother
🫣I hope that black expanding foam don't release dangerous chemicals in the water with to them..
Maybe yhe expanding foam is causing the deformation? Just a thought. A lot of those foams have a lot of toxins in them. My husband is a contractor & he says a lot of those have chemicals in them to deter rodents from chewing the foam. Just a lil FYI for you. Hopefully switching tanks helps. Maybe just try a smaller bowl or real rocks. 🤔 Keep up the hard work. This comment isnt meant for criticism but to inform.

The fact that you took time of ur day and money to make something for the fish instead of killing them shows how much luv you have for them and I respect that❤
She did kill them thou 😢
If your fish are constantly breeding deformed babies, then they have a genetic issue and it's time to stop letting them breed. Why she hasn't thought of this already speaks volumes about educating people on proper fish keeping.
You’re just so sweet and adorable!! You’re Mama Fish 🐠 🐟 the way you care about your fish just shows how big your heart is 🫶🏼
Hey I was wondering does the foam not harm the fish? Is there some sort of special kind you use? Thanks :D
Could the chemicals you're using in your fish tanks be causing the deformities.
I DO NOT KNOW how you can not make the fish bowls and all fall over while outside with live fish inside them,
No one else thinks the deformity issue might be due to the expanding foam?
Didn’t the internet lose their ever loving minds on Jenna Marbles when she used a round tank for her fish? Haven’t we been through this enough times to know that is extremely stressful and unhealthy for them?
I’m wondering if the chemicals in that foam stuff will have an adverse effect on the babies?
Bruh. Please don't put your fish in a spherical container. It confuses them.
I have one weird questions....
Are any of your fish....homosexual?
As a deformed (disabled) person myself lmao, I feel seen😂 Glad my mom didn’t euthanize me, I guess
Why keep deformed fish? Can they get better? How do you make sure they dont breed further?
Is that foam the same as the foam they use for ponds and waterfalls if so it’s totally fine if that’s foam found in hardware store then it’s more than likely a problem
"the deformed baby sanctuary" 💀
Well that’s part of the problem the foam as to why they are turning out deformed
You should never keep fish in a bowl. The need ends on their living space.
oh no not deformed babies. you better love em just the same. even deformed babies need love
Yeah, it’s all this chemicals that lead to the deformities.
