How to make Lebanese Shish Barak

  • Shish barak is one of the best comfort food dishes in Lebanese Cuisine. It's super delicious, but does take a bit more effort. In this episode I'm showing you how to make the traditional beef stuffed shish Barak with laban (yogurt sauce.) I hope you enjoy!!

    Maha, I am interested to learn how to make Shish Barak, thank you for sharing the recipe. I want to teach my grandkids how to make not only Siberian pelmeni (I have been making them all my life) and ravioli but also other great dishes from around the World. About the mold, it is important to have a designed properly mold. If you ask how I know :), I have the same not properly made mold after losing my good one in moving. The mold you have doesn't have a deep enough border inside each opening and this makes it very difficult to take out the product. Meat makes on the bottom the form of a mushroom and we can't take it easy out as should in properly made mold. If the mold has deeper sides, we will be able to take them out by turning upside down the mold and the final product has pretty shapes and makes the process much faster than by hand.

      The minced meat is first cooked in a frying pan, then it is fried in oil (or in the oven) and then boiled in kefir... 🤦🏼‍♀️ Cooking the same meat 3 times in different versions is too much. There is no taste of the meat left. Siberian pelmeni are much tastier

    My Mom makes Shish Baraq too, but in the oven baked, and the Yoghurtsauce served cold.
