drummers in these bands had such amazing tempo talent...the whole rhythm section is great... that is everything to me...how can you not tap your foot when you listen to this... R.I.P. Erol...
Well, this dude is cool and great, the first time I heard him was in 1977 in our bar. I was a student buying a lot of vinyl back then. Almost half a century has passed today. I'm glad to see you, sonorous dude forever. God bless you always. 🙋🏼♂️👍😇🇺🇸
Never met him or band back in 1970s but sure would STILL like to! Always sang to self in mirror as this is part of own funk collection of songs would love to share with someone special..ISO 65-75 .. Great guitarist..Bongo player still around too? Am in Southwest FL..Sounding great !! 💜😃😃
I was very skeptical about listening to the song 40 years later. Thought it would sound crappy. I was absolutely astounded by this performance. Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!
@@munter10 Haha. Same for me.. Totally agree! So many great musicians and solid bands. Hot Chocolate was one of my faves too…,way more great black bands/ artists back then too… loved to watch them perform on American Bandstand on Saturdays
@@jayh6997 I don't think so Jay. This may just be a repeat broadcast of an earlier telecast. The voice is unmistakeably Errol Brown. Kennie had a deeper voice. I've seen Kennie speaking during a British TV show, where he was interviewed first, before the TV host interviewed Kenny. And of course, they played this song. Also, the Errol on this taping looks like the man I witnessed on the TV show.
Who said only the 80s? another golden decade that marked the passage to the next two generations; 80s & 90s immortal songs, that's why they are legends.
It's apparent that most people commenting on this are unaware that these aren't the original band members from the '70's, with the exception of the drummer.
How many original Hot Chocolate members do we see here ? The bass player, yes, but also the fuzz guitar player ? Must say Kenny Simon is a fantastic substitute for Erroll Brown
Wait a minute. If Errol Brown, who was the original lead singer of Hot Chocolate and died on May 6th in the Bahama's, then I'm curious who this lead singer is... He does a great job, no complaints just wondering.
He’s my dad, his name is Kennie Simon , he took over in 2010, the majority of the band are still together just Errol who left so they asked my dad to step in
You know a singer is great when his audience is old and they applaud him because he still sounds as fresh as he did back in the day.
So sad RIP Erol your music lives on God bless you thankyou for amazing voice sheffield town Hall last time saw you
One of the greatest guitar riffs in history
Yeah... Sad the guitar guy kinda missed it... :/ :D
@@jonasjanda5562 Agreed. Seems to lack a little feel. The whole groove is off!
Absolut! LG
Yeah, but this one😂
@@jonasjanda5562 Mr Clown he is the original guitarist of the band. What are you prattling on about that guitarist. Harvey Hinsley, you muppet. 😂😂
He still sounds great! This song is a classic and will never die
This is not the original singer 😢
timeless classic. takes us back to our youth. rip, errol brown.
One of the best songs to come out of the 70’s….. I loved roller skating to this song🚀
I like the orchestra background and his voice is still amazing!! Still get goosebumps!!❤❤
This is not Errol Brown 😢
You never hear music like this anymore. Actual true artist
I once read years ago that he wrote this song for his wife who was feeling overwhelmed by his success. Such a great feel good song. I love it
Immortal song, I am 5 minutes back to 1970s, priceless.
Love this version with the symphony orchestra in the background...seriously grande.
I got to meet hot chocolate in Dubai when I was I kid in the very early 80s. All of them were really cool. Great song
Then they should have changed their name to Cool Chocolate!
❤
Was he as nice as he appeared to be? Get his autograph?
Bad guitar! 🎸 HE sounds INCREDIBLE!! ❤️!
Excelent and wonderful. 40 years later and same incredible and awesome performing. Everyone 1's a winner, forever and ever!!
Sure does look good even 40 years later
I wish he had worn his glittery outfit for this one
Everyone's a winner here . That's still the rule .
It was not Errol..😢
Ese cantante no es Errol Brown, quien se apartó de la banda en 1985 y lamentablemente falleció en 2015.
A first class effort , Kennie is spot on with his rendition , brilliant in fact
Agreed
man, that guitar seems neutered. It needs that punching fuzz that made it a hit!
i know.
@@bsquared4604 I agree
I noticed it right away too! Couldn't agree more!
Roland Synth guitar

How many song that come out today you think will survive for 40+ years? This song deserved this and its a big thing considering im a millennial
You are a man of good taste
Maybe one new song a year might be remembered by generations now back then there were tons per year that stand the test of time
Han pasado años y él con la misma voz. Ningún cambio en su voz. Una gracia de Dios. Me encanta oírlo y su música también.
Pero no es el mismo cantante ya que el verdadero murio en el 2015 y este lo sustituyo en los demas conciertos

More camera time for Errol Brown, jeez!! He wrote the song, he fronted the band, great voice, and an all time classic!
Errol passed in 2015 and this is a Dutch broadcast from 2018 so I would guess this is Kennie singing.
