12:39 Katy’s family also mentions that Day of the Dead was to honor Katy’s late grandfather. This actually connects to Katy’s own character arc when she fights in the Battle for Ta Lo. Her tutor, Master Guang Bo, gave Katy her training during those three days and it was OBVIOUS they had a small bond. When they reunite in San Francisco with their disbelieving friends, she mentioned that her choice to hit the Dweller-in-Darkness’s neck was inspired by her grandmother’s voice (likely after seeing Master Guang Bo die). She was part of the vigil to honor Ta Lo’s fallen warriors (their Day of the Dead) and maybe thought of her grandfather(s).
Regarding the importance of the day of the dead, it is called Qingmingjie (pronounced: chingming) in mandarin, Shangchi's father actually did say that the path to Ta Lo will be open on Qingmingjie but for some reason that part was never translated...
@@DevouringOne32 I agree. Plus it's not as respectful in my opinion to force a name (Day of the Dead) from another culture (Mexico) onto the tradition in other countries (China, Hong Kong) who have been doing it independently for as long/ probably longer and already has a name for it. Anyway there's two days a year as well, so it is not just a single "day of the dead."
Katy is obviously going to taking over Happy's role in the Avengers. But I'll argue she'll be even better (with all due deference to Happy💕). She not only has an "Honors degree from Berkeley" but can drive just about everything better than Petty's & Gordon's love child, as well as land her comedic relief lines like a BOSS! I say she more than deserves a seat with the Avengers-- no matter how long she's been shooting a bow (which, btw- is what we have Kate Bishop for). 😏
The day of the dead (Qing Ming) is the day the entrance to Talo opened. So there’s the connection to it. Basically shangchi’s family got to go visit his mother’s home for Qing Ming
Okay so i watched this today and it exceeded all expectations! One thing though...after watching it, i kinda wanted it to be its own movie and not be part of the Marvels Avengers. Anybody else felt that way? I felt like i loved the characters too much to loose them in the whole Avengers plotline.
Just seen it the other day, and I loved it. Made me want to go home and play Jade Empire. On his outfit at the end though, he did have sneakers on. I mentioned to my buddy, I love his mixture of old/new generations.
No mention of how Razorfist is ripped from the comics pages, as well. Although, in the comics he has _two_ swords for hands, and they aren't retractable. I do believe, if they portrayed him the classic way, they would have a LOT of explaining to do, all the questions you can think of. (Go ahead, with NO hands- how does he eat, sleep, bathe, change clothes, ... poop?)
The best MCU origin story of all the time. Loved every moment of it, the dimensional realm reminded me a bit of Chinese mythology Qing Qiu the first time I saw the white nine tail fox. The martial arts met all my expectations, a bonus was watching Tony Leung. Huge fan of his growing up as a kid.
I enjoy it being pointed out that Jackie Chan is referenced and tributed. It does remind me of a Shang-Chi comics story where a side character tells him he fights like, or better than Bruce Lee. He carries on a bit of conversation with the man, and later comes around to ask him "Who is Bruce Li?" [sic] as though he really doesn't know, nor does he know how to spell an Asian name he has never heard before.
I still don't know who was the guy who had that entry scene with red BMW? Then he passed on the keys to Shang-Chi of his car. Any ideas about that? Also would love to see that scene again it was soo cool!!
Well with kattie becoming an "avenger"... I think of that like Pepper Potts... If u bring in one person "in the know".. You have to bring in the other... Just because they KNOW about what is "really going on".. Pepper as far as I know, never had ANY time working with her armor.. But showed up in endgame, because she KNEW what was going on. Technically everybody that shows up to fight in Endgame was an "AVENGER".. and that kinda set up that anybody that is participating in these "events" can/will be an Avenger. at some point.
I think the rings are calling Fing Fang Foom, and he is a bad relative to the Great Protector, since it was mentioned that the Great Protector came to Tao Lo
Bet it’s gonna be simple with Bruce Banner, a simple solution to put both characters in the frame and without having to pay for extra cgi-hulk-hologram. Nice breakdown ! Edit: waiting for the ‚without cgi‘ video for the scenes with Ben Kingsley !
Does anyone know who the guy in the mask was, was he just a really good fighter and there to setup how deadly the evil mini dragons were? Or was he a Comic charachter?
That's a good theory. It would make hulk a more effective fighter as the character who transformed into abomination was a mercenary and did hand to hand combat training. Future hulk may have more neater fighting style but possibly weaker strength over all.
Great tribute to Brad Allan. Btw, I'm surprised that you didn't pick up on a nice little reference in the movie at the end of the bus scene. Awkwafina crashes the bus into a garbage truck. On her TV show, Nora From Queens, Simu Liu played Awkwafina's grandfather, who was a garbage collector, in a flashback episode, "Garbage Boy" 😁
if you know yet shang chi actually used a move from a game while fighting his father he actually copied it from shadow fight 2 when he was holding the fire stick
I wish that they would have Done more fight scenes in the end and not the generic marvel power battle with the rings and the dragon and monster thing however it was still cool
Spoiler alert if you didn't watch Shang-Chi or didn't play Guardians of the galaxy game So I've watched Shang-Chi 2 times, one before I play GOTG and one after, and it changed my look to the movie a lot. After playing the game, I felt like the portal from the dark dimension in the movie and the "promise" that it gave to Shang-Chi's father was so much close to the promise concept in GOTG game, I wonder if Marvel's direction is to re-use the concept in future movies, but I enjoyed it a lot, both in movie and game.
Tell me they did not use the scene where the Dora Milaje literally detach Bucky's vibranium arm while talking about Katy singing Hotel California to "disarm" her opponents
What's your favorite Shang-Chi moment? (The Pitch Meeting does not count😂)
Kaiju Fight
The bus fight
Pitch Meetings are TIGHT
The scaffolding fight and all of Wen Wu’s eye acting moment!
the last fighting scene on dragon
Saw it today and it’s great! The family or personal connection villains are the best. Tony Leung is the MVP.
We couldn't agree more!

Aaaa yisssss!!!!
It was mid
How you gonna miss the fact that Kung-Fu Hustle was on the wall because Yuen Wah was in that movie AND in this movie. He is a legend.
So that's why the old archer seemed so familiar!! Thanks for reminding me haha

the Extrimis soldier was also finding a Black Widow...it was even in credits. Actress played one in BW too
beat me to it... bahaha
Definitely soon as I seen the wrist gauntlets
“Although basic” he was FINE FINE in that dragon scales suit like DAMNN😍
Regarding the importance of the day of the dead, it is called Qingmingjie (pronounced: chingming) in mandarin, Shangchi's father actually did say that the path to Ta Lo will be open on Qingmingjie but for some reason that part was never translated...
I think a better way of describing it is "Memorial Day" versus day of the dead...

8:53 He did fight in sneakers and jeans. The dragon armour was just a top. You can see it when he started fighting his dad by the gate.
Wong is keeping that paper flow for those tuna melts he loves so much!

Awesome movie!!! Loved every single scene!! Simu Liu is such an amazing and charming actor!!!
He was able to Bring Shang-Chi to life ❤️
@@ScreenRant wow! Thank you for replying to me! I live in Brazil and I'm a big fan of your work!!❤

Not gonna lie, I would have loved to see Shang-Chi fighting in jeans for all the movie. Jeans are tight! Great movie and video🥰
So funny, as the narrator talked about a ton of hidden details, I see a friend of mine as an extra!!! Which I didn't notice before.

Nice video I like how you put so much time in your video's
I love seeing the mythical creatures so cool
In my view, the star of the movie was Tony Leung.
The fact that Abomination is now in the MCU canon makes me so excited
I just watched shang chi it's an amazing movie also i love the video
Glad you loved both the movie and our video! 🙌
Loved it been watching it over n over!❤️

They didn’t do Michelle Yeoh justice with a cinematic fight scene! She’s tiers higher than Tony Leung! Was a shame tbh
Loved this movie from the fighting scene to the storyline. I laughed and I cried. Best Marvel movie going so far.
Best weapon: Giant minigun
Best weapon for jackie chan: Shirt
The actor of "Guang Bo" is the Landlord in Kung Fu Hustle. That says how the director is influenced by Kung Fu Hustle
Absolutely amazing movie 💙💚
Loving you guys
Off topic: Does anyone wonder how Mantis would have fought during that all Female fight scene in end game?

Chefs kiss of a movie
Shang chi 2 will probably be "shang chi and the mystery of the ten rings
I mean with the vlogger he was in Spider-Man, they are in SF and Venom is in SF too right?
Big fan
I was an extra in Rush Hour 2 here in Las Vegas!
You missed the awesome fact that Ms.Chen from Venom appears in shang-chi
I still don't know who was the guy who had that entry scene with red BMW? Then he passed on the keys to Shang-Chi of his car.

Just a random Crazy Rich Asian, there to subvert expectation of Shang being rich.

Great vid, missed some stuff you mentioned but I don't miss Awkwafina lol
I saw premier access on this movie and loved it
I waited a month to watch these and just watched the film , there was some out of place parts but t was better than I expected
fights and stunts in this movie are on point
4:54 where's that clip came from??
I think the infinity war scene with strange making fun of wong having no money leads to that scene in shang chi where he is looking for money lol
I think the rings are calling Fing Fang Foom, and he is a bad relative to the Great Protector, since it was mentioned that the Great Protector came to Tao Lo
I love the Shang Chi stock images
The way you spoke in this video makes it seem like the movie was actually good😂😂😂

Can’t wait for the next Shang Chi movie
I love that vlogger guy!
There is a theory that the rings are from eternals since they are also 10, so 1 from each. That's why it is powerful.
Spoiler for Eternals!
Phastos also has rings on his fingers and they’re 10, they even have kinetic power so...
The woman who fight extremis soldier is actually a Widow, how cool is that
Loved it!
i think katie would be perfect as the avengers getaway driver
Does anyone know who the guy in the mask was, was he just a really good fighter and there to setup how deadly the evil mini dragons were? Or was he a Comic charachter?
That character is Death Dealer! He's a high-ranking warriors from the Ten Rings organization!
Can we give a clap for the growth of AWKWAFINA! She has been a Breakout Star these few years.
I'm convinced that the best Mid Credit scene from MCU is Shang Chi and his friend singing Karaoke with Wong!!!
3:54 did nobody notic that sumo Yama is right there fighting a karate or teakwondo guy
Truly enjoyed the movie... ❤️
Steven stopped buying metaphysical sandwiches for Wong so he had to get a side hustle.
3:35 i think hulk is done and thats why wong is training abomination as his replacement.
That's a good theory. It would make hulk a more effective fighter as the character who transformed into abomination was a mercenary and did hand to hand combat training. Future hulk may have more neater fighting style but possibly weaker strength over all.
Shang-Chi 🔥🔥🔥
What about the arm patch of the bus driver?
